It's inconvenient, slow, and terribly ugly. **What do you dislike about NWEA MAP Suite?** - They force you to change your resolution, which messes up the sizing and the font for everything and makes it blurry and impossible to read. Some devices don't even allow the user to change the resolution. And on a tablet, it won't let you exit out of the app. - there's always some sort of glitch when people are trying to get in, so it takes the class an hour to try to get in and 8 minutes to actually do the test. -The program doesn't even let you see the number of questions there are. It won't let you go back to check on or review previous questions either. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, CONSIDERING EVEN THE SHSAT AND THE STATE EXAMS LET YOU GO BACK ON QUESTIONS. - It is a pain in the arse and extremely infuriating for students and teachers to use, especially if on a school iPad or chrome book. - JUST USE PUPILPATH INSTEAD, ITS MUCH FASTER, IT LETS YOU GO BACK TO PREVIOUS QUESTIONS, AND IT DOESN'T RUN ON AN IRKSOME POP-UP THAT FORCES YOU TO CHANGE YOUR RESOLUTION. **Recommendations to others considering NWEA MAP Suite:** DONT DO IT PUPILPATH IS BETTER **What problems is NWEA MAP Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?** No problems are being solved, and no benefits are being made. Get ready for every single one of your students to have a resolution error message. Make sure all of your teachers are familiar with how to adjust resolution on a Chromebook, because that's only the first of many issues you will encounter. I hope that your school has an amazing tech support team, one person won't be enough. If your school assigns a Chromebook to each student like mine does, then good luck is all I can say. You're not going to like this test. If your students mostly have their own PCs, then it should be somewhat smoother. **Recommendations to others considering NWEA MAP Suite:** Again, if you're using Chromebooks, I'd look elsewhere. For instance the Reading test will tell me how my students did with nonfiction type reading, with vocabulary, and with fiction reading. The tests adapts to the student unlike the other standardized tests we give.This is so critical for my elementary students. There is a huge achievement gap amongst my students, but this test pushes them only as hard as they are able to handle. **What do you dislike about NWEA MAP Suite?** The only thing I don't like is the way the test appears on the screen can be hard to read especially for the 2nd and third graders that are used to a larger font. The recommended computer settings keep the font pretty small. You can not change that once you begin the test. **Recommendations to others considering NWEA MAP Suite:** This is a great software for testing students. The reports are helpful and broken down into meaningful strands. You can find our what skills the scores represent therefore it helps drive instruction. There is a built in goal setting report that helps you make this score more concrete during student goal setting. Our system had children take the test 3 times a year so by the time they leave 5th grade at least 15 times plus in kindergarten 2 times. Too much testing and a waste of valuable teaching time taken away with this test. Way too much time reviewing results to place children in certain areas for individual instruction and then planning all of this out. **Recommendations to others considering NWEA MAP Suite:** Don't waste students time testing them 3 times a year. As a former 1st grade teacher, this age group doesn't need to be tested 3 times a year. Seeing children crying, and telling you they can't read and all I can do is to tell them to do their best. Breaks your heart. Do not give 2nd graders multiplication because they are just guessing. Then their score goes down the next time they take it and it gets frustrated. I also like that for older students, we can still get a reading level, which is not something you can always get with testing software as many of them end at the middle school level. It is nice to be able to search students and see their whole test history. **What do you dislike about NWEA MAP Suite?** The test results at the high school level seem unreliable as there is a growth norm of one to two points in each year of high school, but the margin of error on the test at these levels is three points above and three points below the score achieved. In addition, the writing and language test is not a writing test really, but it is a very term-specific grammar test. The growth projections for students end at tenth grade, so our juniors and seniors have no growth projections in the reports, which means all data has to be calculated by hand. **Recommendations to others considering NWEA MAP Suite:** I would suggest that you try taking a sample test yourself before submitting the tests to the students. Teachers can pull up a variety of reports that can be used to guide and evaluate instruction. The data provided is much more helpful that the state mandated standardized testing data that we receive. **What do you dislike about NWEA MAP Suite?** Reports do not generate instantly. Rather, you must wait a few minutes, or even longer, at times. Also, data is not available the same day a test is administered. I like it because it has the reading and the math MAP scores together when I run a report. That is important for the IEP and helps parents understand the data better. I also like that I can save test sessions, so when I want to come back to a session, all the students are still there and my test session name is the same. **What do you dislike about NWEA MAP Suite?** I don’t like that the password changes everytime I quit the test session. Sometimes I need to test students throughout different times of day, so having the password reset is inconvenient. The ease of administration (setting up tests and proctoring the session) is great. Even teachers who are late adopters have found the web based version of the test easy to handle. **What do you dislike about NWEA MAP Suite?** The tests seem to always take longer to complete than the company recommends. **Recommendations to others considering NWEA MAP Suite:** If data is your thing, NWEA does it really well. Students were able to test login quickly and as a school we are able to have flexibility testing schedule due the ease of the test. Lockdown browser worked well and the ability to create a test session was also easy. **What do you dislike about NWEA MAP Suite?** When student did not appear in list it was cumbersome to create the student and make sure they were in "Awaiting Student" category. The Action drop down menu was not always clear (it would be helpful to perhaps be able to hover over each action and get a quick note on when to use or function) **What problems is NWEA MAP Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a school there are not business problems that we deal with - more how to serve our students well and be sure teachers and students have the technology and instructions to use it. ### 32. It could be more visibly pleasing to younger kids. **Recommendations to others considering NWEA MAP Suite:** Make sure to thoroughly prepare students for the actual test taking time. It's challenging, but not so much that it discourages students. **What do you dislike about NWEA MAP Suite?** The test can be much, much too long. So many questions all at once can really wear the students out, or even discourage them from trying their best on the test. I can see this with students of all ability levels. **What problems is NWEA MAP Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a way to check the student's progress multiple times a year so that we could determine their specific needs. ### 35.
