**What do you like best about Linear?**

What I like most about Linear is how easy it feels to use. I work on technical projects and usually have a lot of tasks moving at the same time, so I really appreciate how quickly I can create an issue, update its status, assign it, or move it into a cycle without having to go through a bunch of extra steps.

The interface is probably my favourite part. It’s clean and fast, and it doesn’t feel overloaded with features. I also use the keyboard shortcuts quite often; once you get used to them, they make managing day-to-day tasks noticeably quicker.

I also like that Linear provides enough structure to keep development work organised without making project management feel like another job on its own. I can open it, immediately see what needs to be done, work through my tasks, and move on. That simplicity is what makes it useful for me.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

The main thing I dislike about Linear is that it can take a bit of time to get used to, especially if you’re coming from something like Jira/Devrev or a more traditional project management tool. There are quite a few features and workflows, and some of them aren’t immediately obvious when you first start using it.

I also feel that some of the more advanced features can be a little too much for smaller projects. When I’m working on something simple, I sometimes get the sense that I’m not really taking advantage of everything Linear offers.

Other than that, I don’t have many major complaints. The learning curve is the biggest issue I’ve noticed, but once you get familiar with the workflow and shortcuts, it becomes much easier to work with.

**What problems is Linear solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Linear, keeping track of development work felt a bit scattered. Tasks, bugs, small improvements, and follow-ups could end up in different places, and it wasn’t always easy to get a quick picture of what was actually pending or currently being worked on.

After moving that workflow into Linear, we’ve had a much clearer way to organise everything. I can create an issue, add the relevant details, link related work, assign it, and track it through to completion without much overhead. The interface is also fast enough that keeping things up to date doesn’t feel like a chore.

The integrations and overall workflow are especially helpful when working with a development team, because technical discussions and tasks can stay connected rather than being handled separately. Features like cycles and project views also make planning easier without overcomplicating the process.

The biggest benefit for me is the time and mental overhead it saves. I don’t have to keep remembering small tasks or constantly ask where something stands. I can open Linear and quickly get a solid sense of what needs my attention. The AI features are also handy for some of the repetitive organisation and issue-related work, although I mostly see them as a convenience rather than the main reason I use Linear.

Onboarding took a little time, since Linear works differently from more traditional project-management tools. But once the workflow clicked, it became something I could use naturally as part of my day-to-day development work.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

Initiatives are especially useful when several projects need to roll up into the same business goal. They let us review status, priority, and progress without opening every single issue, which really matters when HR is coordinating work that spans IT, Finance, and Operations. Team Initiatives make this even cleaner because ownership can sit with the team actually driving the work, while sensitive planning can stay inside private teams when needed. Linear Asks is probably the feature that fits HR operations best. Requests can come in from Slack, email, and, on Enterprise, web forms, and then land as issues that move through triage, assignment, and follow-up. We use it for things like team changes, access requests, letters, equipment, and other operational questions that involve more than one department. The practical win is simple: HR no longer has to remember which Slack conversation still needs someone to take action. For longer initiatives, Project Updates give owners a place to report health, progress, risks, and next steps, and those updates can also flow back into Slack. That has cut down on status meetings where half the conversation was just trying to figure out what was blocked. We also use Cycles in HR Operations, but more loosely than engineering; they help us limit how much work we pretend we can finish in the same period.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

The biggest limitation for me is that the most useful intake options are locked behind higher-tier plans. Slack and email intake are available on Business, but web forms are only included through Advanced Linear Asks on Enterprise. That distinction matters if HR wants Linear to function like a true internal request portal, rather than just a cleaner layer on top of Slack and email. In our case, the intake setup works well as-is, but I’d still prefer web forms on the Business plan, since that’s typically the point where HR can standardize requests without pushing employees into yet another tool.

**What problems is Linear solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Linear during the opening of a new office, when hiring, onboarding, payroll, laptops, access, local policies, and Finance coordination were all moving at the same time. Originally, each team tracked its part in a different place, so no one had a reliable view of the overall launch. We set up an Initiative for the office opening and broke the work into Projects for hiring, onboarding, technology, and documentation, with clear owners and explicit dependencies between them. Employee requests came in through Linear Asks from Slack and flowed through Triage, instead of disappearing into private messages. In the first week, we noticed several onboarding tasks were being closed before IT had actually confirmed access, so we added blocking relationships and tightened the workflow. After that, project owners started posting weekly Updates, which gave leadership a clear view of health and risk without asking HR to rebuild yet another presentation. Linear didn’t replace the HRIS or become the place where employee records lived. Instead, it gave HR, IT, and Finance a shared operational layer where dependencies, ownership, and pending work were visible enough that fewer things got lost between systems.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

Speed and keyboard-first design — Linear is built to be navigated almost entirely without a mouse. Cmd+K command palette, quick issue creation, instant search. It feels snappy in a way a lot of project management tools don't.
Clean, opinionated UI — Less clutter than Jira. Fewer configuration options, but what's there is well-designed and fast to learn.
Cycles and workflow structure — The built-in sprint/cycle model nudges teams toward a lightweight, consistent cadence without much setup.
Git integration — Linking issues to branches/PRs and auto-updating status based on commit or PR activity is a big time-saver for engineering teams.
Roadmaps and project tracking — Good at rolling up issues into projects and giving a clear high-level view without extra tools

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

Limited customization — Linear is opinionated by design, which is great for speed but can be frustrating if your team's workflow doesn't fit its assumptions. Custom fields, workflow states, and views are more constrained than something like Jira or Monday.
Reporting and analytics are thin — Built-in dashboards and cross-project reporting tend to feel basic. Teams that need detailed metrics often export data or bolt on a separate BI tool.
Not built for non-technical teams — It's optimized for software/product teams. Marketing, sales, or ops teams trying to force-fit their work into it often find it awkward.
Steep opinionation on process — Some teams that don't already work in cycles/sprints find the imposed structure more of a fight than a help.
Pricing at scale — Some users note costs add up once you're managing many teams/seats, especially compared to more all-in-one platforms.
Fewer integrations than incumbents — It covers the essentials (Git, Slack, Figma, etc.) well, but the ecosystem is smaller than Jira's, so niche integrations may be missing.

Cutting down on process overhead — replacing heavier tools like Jira with something fast enough that logging/updating issues doesn't feel like a chore, so more of the team actually keeps it up to date.
Bridging the gap between planning and code — tying issues directly to git branches/PRs so status updates happen automatically instead of manually, and engineers don't have to context-switch between "the tracker" and "the code."
Giving a single source of truth for product work — projects, roadmaps, and cycles all live in one place instead of scattered across docs, spreadsheets, and Slack threads.
Reducing meeting/status-update time — because issue status is naturally kept current (partly due to speed, partly due to git integration), teams can lean on Linear itself instead of needing a separate status meeting.
Making prioritization visible — roadmap and project views give leadership a clear read on what's in progress and what's next without pinging individual engineers.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

I like that Linear is fast and works well with keyboard input, which makes managing issues more efficient. The agent also works quite well, enhancing the overall experience. Switching to Linear from GitHub Issues was a great decision because GitHub Issues felt terribly slow and clunky in comparison. I also found the initial setup of Linear to be very easy, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, these aspects make Linear a product I highly recommend, giving it a 10 out of 10 for likelihood to recommend to others.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

The code diff feature in Linear feels a bit unnecessary to me. I prefer being taken directly to GitHub for code comparisons, as I find the experience there more preferable.

Linear helps me with triaging, managing issues, drafting and deduplicating them, and handling releases efficiently. It's fast and works well with keyboard input, unlike GitHub Issues, which is slow and clunky.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

It really helps me organise my projects, and it’s an easy way to interact with my team, especially on issues that need some back-and-forth. The AI is good, and the connection with Claude lets me upload issues directly to Linear, which saves me a lot of time. They also let you create plenty of issues before you have to pay for the service, so you have time to try it properly before going deeper. Thanks to linear our project is more organised and more efficient so we move faster. The support is present and useful in case of need. The design is really good and interface is easy to use even if I haven't use every aspect of it just yet. It's fast and have never encountered bugs so very happy with it.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

Not much to add, really. The platform is well made and helps many different people across different sectors.

It helps me stay organised and keep up with the follow-up on our issues. For me, that’s the most important part. For every successful business, you need good organisation, and this platform supports that a lot.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

Linear provides just the right level of features and performance, not bloated like Jira, but more robust than tools like Trello. The interface is slick and easy to use, and the keyboard shortcuts are great time savers. It also has excellent integration with time tracking tools like Everhour.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

It does seem that AI/agents is becoming a focus, which is something our company has no current use for, but fortunately it is still opt in for now.

We use Linear to organise both short term and long term goals for our team. It is easy for new starters to pick up and start using right away, while being flexible enough to be usable by both our software devs and our IT helpdesk team.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

What I like most about Linear is that it's simple but doesn't feel restrictive. I've been using it for over a year and the biggest difference I see to other tools is how little overhead there is to actually using it. With Linear’s import and sync options, you can transition existing work gradually, and I’ve seen firsthand how quickly teams onboard to the new workflow because of how intuitive and responsive it feels.

Issues, projects, cycles, triage, and roadmaps all feel like parts of the same workflow. I love how fast I can go from a Slack request or bug report, to a properly tracked issue, assigning ownership, adding context, and linking it to the actual engineering work, just by tagging the Linear bot. I also use the GitHub integration a lot because the issue, PR and development status stays connected without the engineers needing to keep the tracker updated manually all the time.

As more of our dev workflow becomes AI-assisted, it's surprisingly valuable to have requirements, discussions, ownership and related work organized around an issue. That context is something an AI agent could work from, rather than having to begin by using an isolated prompt. So Linear feels less like a traditional ticket tracker and more like a shared context layer for the engineering team. I don't have visibility into the organization's licensing costs, so I can't fairly assess the value against what we're paying. From an engineering perspective, though, the productivity benefits have been significant.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

The one thing I don't like about Linear is that its opinionated approach can sometimes go against you when a team has a workflow that doesn't fit nicely into how Linear expects you to work. I actually like this better than endless customization most of the time, but there are times I wish I could model something a little differently instead of working around the existing structure. I like that Linear doesn’t allow every team to create dozens of custom fields most of the time, but there are times when I want to attach one small piece of metadata to an issue and end up using a label or putting it in the description instead.

And when you reach a certain size in a project or an organization, it takes a bit of discipline to keep projects, initiatives, labels and views under control. Linear makes it super easy to build things, which is great at first, but teams can slowly develop their own ways and views.

**What problems is Linear solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Linear not only solves the problem of tracking tasks for us, it solves the problem of keeping context around engineering work together. Before you use it, the real state of a project might be all over Slack discussions, documents, GitHub, and people’s heads. The issue tracker would tell you what was being worked on, but you'd still have to work out the why, the relevant discussions, and what had already been decided.

Linear provides us a much better shared context for that. Instead of being separate bits of information, requirements, discussions, priorities, related issues and the actual engineering work can stay together. That makes cross-team work much easier because I can understand the state of something without having to ask different people or search through old Slack threads.

The difference becomes even more noticeable with AI-assisted development. Having the product and engineering context structured around the work gives an agent somewhere to start, rather than handing it a blank prompt and expecting it to reconstruct the context itself. That is the part I think differentiates Linear from a traditional tracker. The benefit is less time spent reconstructing context and coordinating work, and more time actually moving it forward.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

Their AI agent is one of the few that is across the board helpful, extremely easy to use, and accessible from any surface that I want it to be. 

The GitHub integration, those sort of table stakes at this point, is also so clean and easy.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

Only just recently, I've had a few issues with the agent. I can't tell if that's just because I keep giving it harder tasks because it's been doing so well, or if you've downgraded the model or amount of thinking or something to save costs.

An example is I pasted in my entire meeting notes and transcript to the agent and said, "Figure out all the tickets we talked about and add comments from the notes to each of those tickets." And it didn't do very well.

Team coordination and issue tracking, but in a way where I feel like I don't have to do that much annoying ticket management work

**What do you like best about Linear?**

Linear easily integrates with other tools like slack and GitHub to bring conversations into one central place for each ticket. It's available automations for ticket creation and assignees are useful as well and really help to streamline workflows.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

It is difficult to find things in linear. The default navigation shows only the ticket hierarchy for your team (I'm not aware of a way to change it) and there is no clear path to browse tickets from other teams. My most significant grievance is with the UI. The buttons to create new tickets are small and difficult to find. The default color scheme is very light and low contrast, with text being very difficult to read. Options to customize the colors exist, but the default settings should be a bit better out of the box.

Linear allows tickets to be created and tracked. It allows a ticket to act as a central point of conversation, and serves as a source of status for work that is in progress.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

I’ve used Jira before, and with Linear everything feels more intuitive and streamlined. It has a CLI and MCP built in, and it can integrate with Claude code or Codex. You can divvy up individual tickets into projects and organize them hierarchically, which makes it easier to keep work structured. You can add implementation details to the ticket itself in .md and that becomes the prd + design doc. Super easy to spin up agents using the linear ticket cause everything about the feature implementation is contained in the ticket. Overall, it feels like it’s built for agentic workflows.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

There isn’t much to dislike. The only thing I’d probably change is the way Slack conversations are linked to Linear. When I comment on Linear from a Slack conversation, it shows up in Slack as if it’s coming from a different user.

**What problems is Linear solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Agentic workflow and effort tracking are both central to how we work. We depend heavily on agentic coding, and Linear enables us to iterate faster and stay focused on building features instead of worrying about effort tracking and work attribution.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

I think the clutter is very less compared to everything else that I've used. It's like you can figure out what you want to see, or like, you can open what you want to see in very less amount of time. It's very clean. It's very fast. It's also very easy to use. The entire process or the entire feature where we can create a project with multiple issues and then track them together is great. I also appreciate the connectivity with GitHub, which allows tracking PRs and status updates automatically. It makes tracking things easy without manually having to close issues and projects.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

Not much to be honest, I used to face a bug where it refused to update but that has since been solved.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

I love how Linear balances simplicity with power. The clean interface makes it easy to keep track of progress without getting overwhelmed by a bloated tool. I appreciate that it's super fast with no lag, which is a huge plus. I find the integration with GitHub incredibly helpful, keeping code changes and tasks connected seamlessly. The keyboard shortcuts in Linear are huge, allowing me to access everything like creating issues, assigning tasks, or navigating between views quickly. This means I can spend less time clicking or switching tabs, leading to a smoother, more frictionless daily workflow.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

One thing that can be a bit limiting is customization. If you need really complex workflows or advanced reporting, it's not as robust as, say, Jira. Also, sometimes for larger teams, the permission settings could be more granular.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

I love the Linear experience as a whole; it's so easy to use. It has redefined what software looks like for me. I love the AI features, the keyboard shortcuts, and the ability to ingest a lot of key insights that I historically had in different places. I'm now able to see everything in one centralized manner. The keyboard shortcuts are the biggest thing I value, allowing me to zoom in and out of initiatives, projects, and issues very quickly. I also use the Linear Agent, especially its Slack integration, to directly create issues with context from threads. I appreciate how it integrates with different sub-agents, helping my team and I execute on the tickets created. I also find the modern software keyboard shortcuts and the quality of the product itself very appealing.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

Right now, the thing that doesn't that the area with Linear that is a little bit challenging is understanding the scope of responsibility per person per week. It seems like it handles projects well over extended periods, but not every single person assigned to a project will be working on it actively at all times. So, I'd love to see a breakdown that allows for week-over-week visibility on individual responsibilities. Also, getting adoption from non-EPD teams like go-to-market and operations is difficult, as Linear is very specifically tailored towards EPD.

I find that Linear helps me solve organization issues and accountability for deliverables, as well as planning and gathering inputs from customers and teams.

They’re constantly innovating and releasing new, cutting-edge products. Their customer support is also top-notch.

There’s a small learning curve at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s really not too bad.

Understanding what people are working on in a large organization is difficult, but with Linear it’s much easier to get visibility. I can quickly see what’s happening through the Pulse view. Another feature I really like is the Reviews tab, since it means I don’t have to leave the ticketing system to do PR reviews, which is genuinely helpful. It also integrates easily with Slack and other areas, which helps improve overall product efficiency.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

The compatibility between Linear and AI agents has been a big plus for us. We’re able to integrate Linear with Claude, Granola, and Slack, which helps us manage different aspects of our workflow in one place. The UX is very clean, and overall it feels developer-friendly.

Linear performs really well in terms of connectivity and gives quick responses when creating tickets through Slack or Claude.

The new Ask Linear chatbot gives a better perspective on tickets, and it’s also useful for standup updates.

We were previously using a different tool that became very expensive for a team of 9. With Linear, we’re paying less on the business plan while still having the major functionality we need.

Support has also been solid: we got quick responses from the Linear team whenever we needed help, especially while we were newly migrating to Linear.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

It doesn’t have AI automation that I can apply to tasks. That’s not really a deal-breaker, but it would be a nice feature to have.

Unable to create a gantt chart, though it is in the making but good to have.

**What problems is Linear solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Triage has been one of the best things to happen for the project. Handling customer requests while continuing development tasks used to be really hard to manage; now we’re able to prioritize triage because the product owner has a clear picture of where and how to log tickets.

Another great addition is MCPs, where we can summarize and create tickets in bulk using AI tools.

It feels great to use—very snappy and clean. It’s easy to learn and straightforward to use. It also works really well with MCP for Claude and Codex. I was able to jump right into work without spending days trying to figure things out; it’s very intuitive.

When issues are moved by automation (for example, via a connector to GitLab), they still leave a notification. I’d really like to have a toggle that lets me opt out of these notifications.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

It feels intuitive overall. The information I want to find is (mostly) right where I expect it to be, and the Slack integrations are saving me some time.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

Navigation sometimes confuses me. When I’m working through a long list of tickets in a project and cross-referencing them with tests in TestRail, I can easily lose my place because hitting back takes me to the top of the list instead of returning me to where I left off when I opened the ticket.

Something similar happens when I’m writing a comment (a QA finding) that turns into a ticket. If I open that ticket to add more info, I’m forced back into finishing the comment with the “discard or continue” prompt. Why can’t I just save from that modal, or open the ticket in a new tab?


I also don't like to use the mobile app, because I prefer to have my homepage set to the current cycle and my own queue, but I don't see that option for Android.

**What problems is Linear solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira feels clunky and has far more functions than we actually need. Linear feels more focused on our workflows, and searching is easier. It’s not really solving a specific problem for us, but my new manager has more experience with Linear, so we’ve switched to using it instead. I enjoy it more because it doesn’t feel like I have to work around the tool, and managing it doesn’t turn into a whole new workflow on its own.

The level of attention to detail, especially around the app’s UI/UX, is insane. As a software engineer, I really appreciate how easy it is to copy a branch name directly from a ticket—it’s such a nice touch, and a QOL boost for me.

More “global” roadmap views have historically been challenging for me to use because of how much scrolling I naturally have to do. I wish there were a way to view everything without needing to scroll left to right so much.

The guest/external collaborator model is too restrictive for teams working with contractors or client stakeholders. Reporting and analytics feel underpowered for any meaningful leadership visibility. There's no native docs layer, so you're always stitching Linear to Notion for specs and PRDs.

Linear eliminates the overhead of traditional project management tools — no more bloated Jira workflows, endless configuration, or status meetings just to know where things stand. **What do you like best about Linear?**

I like the ability to set up different views based on ticket types. We have two main boards: the main ticket board and our bug board. Having engineers jump in and quickly pick up the highest-priority items is really impactful. We also have it fully integrated with our GitHub and Slack, so we can create tickets that get reported in customer channels as well. We’re working on getting more of this to be automatic, with a fully custom workflow on our side to generate plans and have AI automatically execute on customer tickets. The real-time and quick updates and the collaborative nature of the text boxes are also super important.  For the price, there is no better tool and i wouldnt even consider Jira anymore.

**What do you dislike about Linear?**

I don’t like that there aren’t custom fields, although we can kind of work around it by using custom labels. Still, I really wish we could set custom dropdown options beyond just the status.

Linear keeps our engineering and product org up to snuff, and it helps us execute quickly. The full integrations with Claude and Slack also keep everything connected, so we can keep moving as fast as possible.

I like that Linear is very easy and convenient to use. Everything in Linear is customizable, and I can create new issues and have access to create multiple ones. I really love the AI feature that Linear provides, as it is really helpful for clarifying and describing the progress of a current project. The integration with Slack is also very convenient; I can easily add or manage tasks from Slack without needing to go to the Linear application. This makes task management flow smoothly within our company.

Okay. So some of the things which I don't like about Linear is that initially, when I started to use Linear, I found it a bit confusing. The layout was a bit confusing at the beginning. After a few weeks, I got used to Linear and figured things out. Also, when I try to assign any issue to some of my friends, the issues also come under my issues. I find it difficult to filter out my own issues which I created for myself only and also to differentiate the issues which I created for someone else. So these are some areas which Linear can be improved.

**What do you like best about Linear?**

I use Linear for development task organization and project completion. It really helps by showing the status of all development tasks and allows us to add priority for each task, add comments, and lets the entire team see the progress of company-wide projects. I like that Linear is a simple organization tool that doesn't overcomplicate work. Other systems have too many bells and whistles that confuse everyone, but with this tool, I've seen more completion of tasks and correct status handling. The initial setup was very easy.

It is easy to use and the the insights are easy to build in Linear. The customer is auto tagged in linear showcasing the potential duplicate ones are awesome. The triage feature is also something I like and export of the tickets to external platform and ease to integrate to external platform.
