## Firefish Reviews
  ### 1. Great platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikki P. | Senior Recruitment Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Firefish?**

It's incredibly easy to navigate and I got to grips with it very easily from the start. I also really like the fact that FF are constantly improving the platform, listening to their users and introducing new features regularly. I particularly like using Quil and look forward to this specific integration improving further down the line.

**What do you dislike about Firefish?**

The reports still need some work and the new Leads feature could use some additional work for example being able to add details about specific roles such as using a link from job boards or the company websites to provide info on the lead itself.

**What problems is Firefish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Firefish helps me to keep track of my jobs and candidates. I also feel that the integration with Quil helps me to provide a better service to my clients and candidates as the follow up material demonstrates that we have listened.

Nothing I dont like to be honest - always helpful and efficient and love the ease to add data

**What problems is Firefish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

recently I added a new arm to the business which required logos and content, they talked me through it all and also put the image on for me.

  ### 4. NOT state-of-the-art software! Poor user experience & slow workflows. Bound to 12 month contract. :(

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linus H. | Co-Founder / Director Sales & Partners, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Firefish?**

The sales representative was very friendly. The LinkedIn integration works well for contacts and candidates.
Basic recruitment and ATS processes are okay. But the generic and crucial CRM-functions feel very outdated having previously worked with state-of-the art CRM systems like salesforce, dynamics or HubSpot. Teh customer support was also very freidnly - and that the software is outdated is not his fault.

**What do you dislike about Firefish?**

Having previously worked with state-of-the-art CRMs e.g. salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics - firefish feels very outdated. We expected is would be easy to use and a bit self-explnatory - like other systems. But it is not. It is outdated and very nested.

Specifically standard generic processes are outdated and slow. e.g. for an address for candidates or organisations/contacts there is now map service embedded.

Every house number and street are a single entry. Standard customisations standards aren´t met. You cannot add as many customised fields to e.g. an organisation as you like. Also, the options of what the field should display are limited e.g. address, picklist, phone number ....

Then the note tracking is very inadequate. When you add a note to a contact it won´t show up in his/her organisation. Which is crucial for sales teams. Then it goes into details that you cannot even customise your activities that you want to log. You have a few set activity types and that is it.

The search functionality is very outdated. 1. I doesn´t show you your recent searches. 2. you cannot search the whole data base, you need to first e.g. go to "people" > "candidates" or "contacts" before you can search for a person. Instead of just entering a name and the search brings it up, doesn´t matter what object type it is. Like all other systems do it. Just like google search. The firefish process just takes too long. And there are many other things alike that just take too much time.
Furthermore, we have experienced significant loading delays for some not all workflows.

We tried to use it on a daily bases in the beginning but everything was just too outdated and slow that we jumped back into excel and are now looking for another CRM system.

To summarize after using the system for 2 weeks we realised it is just not for us and we cannot invest any time into further when we want this to be rolled out for many employees in the future.

Unfortunately, we had to sign a 12 month contract to get access to the system. We have laid out our reason and asked for a early termination but they said no. It is definitely no customer focus – the rather want to money.

The setup was okay. But we had to sign the 12 month contract first before we got the first access to the system.
Overall, I cannot recommend firefish at all and I highly recommend to test the system for 1-2 weeks before signing at 12 month contract.

**What problems is Firefish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We initially thought Firefish could solve issues related to contract project recruitment as well as permanent recruitment.

We expected to use it as an ATS and for client and candidate relationship management.

However, it is not useful for us as it feels outdated, not state of the art anymore, and the workflows feel very stiff. With other systems its even good fun to work with them, here it just feels that everything takes ages, it is complicated to navigate to the next required object or field.

Furthermore customisations are very limited, making it not enjoyable to work with. So, it is not solving our problems.

**Official Response from Amy McLaughlin:**

> Hi Linus,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations, but we’d like to clarify the situation from our side.

Unfortunately, we were unable to complete your onboarding process despite making multiple attempts to reach out and assist you. During our discussions, you acknowledged that more thorough questioning from yourself during the sales process could have provided greater clarity.

While we understand that circumstances may change, we must note that a contract was signed, and it's disappointing to receive this review without your team completing onboarding and fully experiencing the powerful features that Firefish offer.

We're always here for further discussions and would be happy to assist you in getting the most out of the system should you reconsider.

Kind Regards
Team Firefish

  ### 5. Excellent Customer Support and continually improving product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve M. | Owner/Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Firefish?**

The excellent new plug in for LinkedIn enable you to register new candidates AND upload a pdf profile (CV) direct to the CRM. It's very user friendly, it'seasy to manage in all aspects of the recruitment process, has a great dashboard for your to-do list, and now you can call direct from the CRM and it will also flag up a 'call' tab for your notes.

**What do you dislike about Firefish?**

It could be slightly more flexible or adjustable in the screens you see. I know these do get periodically looked at and some implemented.

**What problems is Firefish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The entire recruitment process, recording all stages and keeping track of what's happening have all made so much easier. In addition I can keep track of how my staff are performing.

  ### 6. Great service and features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James K. | Owner / Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Firefish?**

I've been a customer of Firefish for almost 7 years now, but the reason for my review today is after a client update call with Scott McFarlane and Scott Sorbie, who gave me some support and guidance on some of the really cool features that I've not been using, such as LinkedIn parsing of candidates, Chat GPT creation of candidate profiles and logging emails from Outlook. They're also helping me tweak a couple of other things on the CRM to allow better candidate suggestions for my jobs. Great customer service and features!

**What do you dislike about Firefish?**

I'd like to be able to have a feature which allows you to stay on a page (such as a candidate list) while opening up a new page in a new tab, which Firefish doesn't seem to be able to do, although I have a work-around for this.

**What problems is Firefish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They're giving more support to be able to use all the features.

Great UI, easy to pick up for those new to the recruitment world or anyone moving over from another CRM. The Number of features and releases has increased massively over the last 12 months, with AI being integrated into the platform for advert writing, candidate profile writing and others on the way.

**What do you dislike about Firefish?**

We've used FireFish for almost 10 years and whislt we have sampled other CRMs in the market which may have some new features or being at the forefront of the industry, this is always reflected in a massive price difference, you get an oustanding amout of features and use out of FF for the cost.

**What do you like best about Firefish?**

I like being able to search by niche technology as it filters CV's for keywords, has helped me make a few niche placements. I like the UX also, it has a clean feel to it that makes it easy to use and well thought out. I like the fact you can add quick notes for candidates.

**What do you dislike about Firefish?**

Thought it could be a tad slow at times and a little bit clunky in some areas like when downloading a cv from the database,

**Recommendations to others considering Firefish:**

I think its a really cool product and a lot better than a lot of CRM's I have seen. Can be a bit on the pricey side but it is as good as you're going to get for a reasonable price.

**What problems is Firefish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use FF as a database where we store CV's and advertise jobs,. Without FF we would struggle to make placements as we are pretty much wedded to t at this stage

**What do you like best about Firefish?**

It isn't an overly complicated system - it does the vast majority of things that a normal SME recruitment business would need.

**What do you dislike about Firefish?**

The nature of SaaS products means that changes that could be useful for us either don't get implemented or are slow to progress.

**Recommendations to others considering Firefish:**

If migrating from another platform then you need to have someone in-house that understands the structure of the data. If not then use an external consultant to help you during the migration process.

**What problems is Firefish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Good use of CRM is a massive problem in recruitment businesses. I like Firefish as the ease of use means that there is no excuse by our team not to use it. Additionally the basic marketing automation it provides is outstanding and has resulted in substantial increases in revenue from direct applications.
