When there is an unusual payroll transaction or situation, it is not always clear how to handle it in the system and I will need to call customer service. Auto-calculations are a really good feature as well when you want to work backwards and figure out a take home pay amount **What do you dislike about SurePayroll?** Not always confident that workers compensation reports are being filed in a timely manner. There are no notifications that this was even done on behalf of my company.I have had to follow-up a few times after repeatedly getting notices from my state. The reporting features are really lacking. It would be great if we could at least export the raw data to CSV or Excel so that customers can build their own metrics. Not a lot of the features are automated yet. Some still require contacting customer service. And so this can be frustrating for a simple 1 or 2 person small business. I especially do NOT like the monthly minimum fee if no payroll is run. It is really high relative to other services especially if I only run payroll once per year. WaveApps.com is only $5 per month fee for inactivity. **Recommendations to others considering SurePayroll:** Make sure you have a really good business accountant that can walk you through everything **What problems is SurePayroll solving and how is that benefiting you?** My business is focused on solving various technology computing problems for companies working with Big Data. As a one person business owner that is primarily consulting, SurePayroll is really helpful in alleviating calculations for payroll and also submitting workers comp numbers to the state. But it seems like the entire process is not yet automated. ### 3. I used to spend at least two hours every week processing payroll and writing pay checks. With Sure Payroll I enter the hours and I am done. Employee pay is direct deposit (which they love) all tax, and unemployment money is deducted and it takes me all of 15 minutes. quarterly and yearly forms are a breeze. Adding a new employee is as easy as entering some data and done. **What do you dislike about SurePayroll?** Really nothing. I had some concerns with the home screen but the new dashboard solved that. **Recommendations to others considering SurePayroll:** Thing about the tome you spend on payroll, the potential for mistakes with governmental forms and the cost of Sure Payroll will seem like a bargain. **What problems is SurePayroll solving and how is that benefiting you?** So many including, suta, futa, fica, w2s, etc. Year end tax paperwork used to be something I dreaded. With Sure Payroll the whole process takes less than an hour. ### 4. I receive email updates every pay period giving me my due date for submitting. Team members supply me with their data, I enter it, and it takes me 10 minutes at most to complete a task that used to be a very detailed, long and hated task. The subsequent payroll reports are easily accessed and easy to read. I then enter those reports into my accounts payable software. At the end of the year, my CPA is pleased to see a seamless integration which he can then use. The pricing is reasonable and well worth it. **What do you dislike about SurePayroll?** Entering the payroll data has a small learning curve, but I don't see that as much of a problem as customer service was available to help me out at a moments notice. As such, I rarely have to call customer service. **Recommendations to others considering SurePayroll:** I have been so happy with Sure Payroll, that I don't know or care what their competitors are doing, as I have no need to switch. **What problems is SurePayroll solving and how is that benefiting you?** Minimal time devoted to payroll entry, and subsequent Quarterly Reports and of course yearly W-2s The main benefit is that I don't worry one bit about the timing and accuracy, and leaves me more time to take care of my patients and run other less well integrated aspects of my business. ### 5. Most useful has been their help in filing most necessary state and federal tax forms. The reporting is pretty useful, and the Customer Service is responsive. **What do you dislike about SurePayroll?** The whole experience feels a bit dated compared to something like ZenPayroll, especially from the employee's perspective. We've thought about moving to something else, but I can't imagine trying to pull out all of the data Surepayroll has; we're kind of stuck there. **Recommendations to others considering SurePayroll:** Keep in mind that once you're in, it's tough to switch to anything else, so make sure it's what you want. **What problems is SurePayroll solving and how is that benefiting you?** Solves the huge problem of not needing internal resources for much of the business accounts in different states. The dashboard has nice graphics and is easy to read. **What do you dislike about SurePayroll?** I do the payroll twice a month and I liked that the other version had a feature that you only had to check those people that were getting paid instead of having to delete default info for those not getting paid for that period. **Recommendations to others considering SurePayroll:** The support team is very helpful and they have great follow up. The follow up is done both by phone and email with knowledgeable, and courteous professionals, and all problems are tracked with a case number which helps when you have to refer back to the problem with another customer service person. **What problems is SurePayroll solving and how is that benefiting you?** Running reports for end of the month and quarterly is very important, and SP does that easily. ### 7. Inputting employees hours, vacation time, and bonuses is very straightforward (couldn't be simpler, really). Direct deposit is a breeze to set-up (less than a minute per employee), and in over 5 years of using SurePayroll I haven't had a single issue with anything payroll tax related - they handle it entirely and they handle it very well. When I do run into a snag, I've called and chatted with the customer support who are always excellent. **What do you dislike about SurePayroll?** I don't like that I lose all of my payroll data (i.e. hours and bonuses entered) if I need to update an employee's information, such as their pay rate. **Recommendations to others considering SurePayroll:** Give it a shot - the customer support alone is worth it! **What problems is SurePayroll solving and how is that benefiting you?** Time! Before using SurePayroll I would lose an entire day, or more, to running payroll and making sure I had all of my ducks in a row with quarterly filings. It was so complicated that I couldn't remember from one payroll to the next exactly how to run payroll! Worse, it only supported Windows. This was amazing considering it was a web application! When I discovered Surepayroll, it was a breath of fresh air. It takes me 5 minutes to do our payroll and it works from just about any browser. They have their own mobile app too so I can do our payroll from my iPhone if the need arises. Lastly, their staff is extremely helpful and they have been around for a while. Payroll is one of those things that has to work every time. You can't find out the app isn't working or is off line or the their business model didn't work out so they are out of business. Surepayroll is a company you count on. **What do you dislike about SurePayroll?** I'd like them to modernize the website. It looks like it's 10 years old. However, they have very recently updated the payroll app itself. Once you login, it's quite modern. **Recommendations to others considering SurePayroll:** If you have less than 100 employees I think Surepayroll is the right choice. Seriously - that's all it takes! **What do you dislike about SurePayroll?** Once a payroll has gone through the approval lifecycle and is approved, it requires manual intervention by SurePayroll staff to stop/cancel it or to make changes. Of course, as a user, I've been warned of this but that requires that I truly know what I will want to do in about 10 minutes after I've finished. **Recommendations to others considering SurePayroll:** Make sure you have employee adoption for the concept of using a different payroll service. SurePayroll is owned by PayChex, so there is a big name behind them. They typically do everything electronically, which is great for those of us comfortable with technology. Reports are electronic and it might take a bit of time getting used to completely electronic forms. Oh, read the notices from taxation agencies. While SurePayroll does their best to keep up with various updates, they do not receive the notices on behalf of customers so it is the customer's responsibility to forward them ton. **What problems is SurePayroll solving and how is that benefiting you?** SurePayroll has made my payroll fast, easy, and completely electronic. We can write checks, but choose not to. Everything is done electronically and the reports are very easy to read.
