I see Semrush as a sales partner. Working in the online marketing industry, SEO can be a veritable minefield. If you want to sell your service, you need hard facts and solid numbers, and that’s exactly what Semrush does for me. I can compare a customer’s SEO against their competitors, which gives me a huge advantage, strengthens my pitch, and ultimately improves conversion. It’s easy to use, and the graphs it provides leave no room for doubt. As an agency, it’s well worth what we pay for Semrush, as it has paid for itself hundreds of times over. I love the AI insights it provides, and its performance is smooth and fast (who’s got time to wait for number crunching to happen?). It’s so intuitive and straightforward that I’ve never had to contact support for assistance, so I can’t review that side of their performance. I probably use only about 1% of what Semrush can do, and I really wish there were a super-easy way to learn my way around its features. As someone with ADHD, a gamified learning tool would be awesome. Even something like a “Daily Deep Dive” pop-up that highlights one specific function each day would help a lot. It would be even better if I could click “next” when I have spare time and go through a couple in one sitting. Right now, it just feels like a lot to take on when trying to learn everything Semrush can do. There isn’t anything I truly dislike—more that there are areas I simply need to learn better. For example, I’d love to integrate it with our Podio, since that’s where we keep client information. Having a section in Podio that pulls in data from Semrush would be really helpful. One place I can see room for improvement is the SEMRush One offering - for a higher price point I expect more actionable recommendations - the features/insights that have to do with AI don't have great structure, there are irrelevant suggestions, and it's not easy to export or view high level info on prompts/topics by brand. Since implementing Semrush, we’re able to manage listings, track keyword rankings, and monitor visibility all in one platform. The proprietary names they use for their tools can be counter-intuitive, and the way they organize those tools in the menu doesn't necessarily align with what I'm trying to do. For example, I'm the PPC specialist at my company, but all the tools I use regularly are in the "SEO" section, and I usually click the wrong menu item multiple times before I actually find the tool I'm looking for. Developer-focused LLM engines like Claude Code or Claw are missing from citation/mention report. Adding sub-domains for LLM health review are too hard, making documentatin or developer SDK pages not a part of the process.
