Our company loves how much information Semrush makes available to us. It’s been extremely easy to use, and it genuinely feels like there’s something new to discover on the platform each day. It also integrates well with GA4, so we feel confident our data is accurate, and we’ve had almost no issues with the product’s performance letting us down. The pricing is a bit frustrating for us, because there aren’t really good ways to bundle only what we actually need for our account. As a result, we end up paying for some products we don’t ever use. On the plus side, at least we know they’re available in the future if we end up needing them. It's also been hard with the development of AEO/GEO that they have their AEO abilities and AI searches separate from their main platform, but it goes back to pricing. Love the new AI Visibility, especially the Perception and Narrative Drivers as it has allowed me to created really useful new FAQs and content that LLMs can pick up on with pre-training and inference. I've connected it with Google Analytics and it makes it a joy to use. The Performance is terrific and snappy between sections; and I've dealt with the SEMrush team directly earlier on in the year to give them my views on AI integration and expansion. There’s a real learning curve in figuring out where specific tools are located and how to use them effectively to get the most value from the platform. More guided onboarding, along with role-specific learning paths, would help users ramp up faster and feel confident sooner. The interface is generally well designed, but certain reports and dashboards can come across as cluttered, which makes it harder to quickly surface the insights that matter most. Customization options do help, but I’d still like to see more streamlined workflows for common tasks so it takes fewer steps to get to the key takeaways. From a pricing standpoint, Semrush is a significant investment. It delivers a lot of value, but smaller businesses and solo marketers may struggle to justify the cost, particularly when access to some features is locked behind higher-tier plans. I’ve also noticed that some traffic estimates and competitive intelligence metrics don’t always align with actual performance data. Because of that, I treat them more as directional indicators than precise figures. Improvements to data accuracy, along with stronger AI-driven recommendations, would make the platform even more useful for strategic decision-making. Semrush has helped us improve our SEO across the board. It provides weekly insights into our website’s technical performance through Semrush’s Site Audit, and it also supports our keyword research while helping us analyze our articles. Semrush's new AI Visibility Overview has also been a welcome addition to the platform. Before switching to Semrush, we had to review articles manually, figure out which keywords mattered most, and check how our content compared with our competitors. For users with less of a technical background, Semrush is a very beginner-friendly way to get clear, actionable insight into potential improvements for your website. I don’t really see any downsides, but I do think there’s still some room for improvement when using an international version of Semrush, especially the SEO Writing Assistant. We’re a Dutch platform, and while Dutch is supported, the assistant sometimes flags words and sentences as being too difficult for our audience when, in reality, they’re terms that every Dutch person would understand. For example, the word “American” gets flagged quite often. It’s a minor detail and it doesn’t affect my article, so I usually just ignore the suggestion. Still, looking ahead, I’d love to see a model that understands our language a bit better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you? Before Semrush, I had to rely heavily on our developer to make changes that would improve our website’s technical performance. More importantly, I depended on him just to spot potential issues in the first place, because I didn’t really have visibility into what was going on. Semrush—especially the Site Audit—has made it possible for me to identify the technical problems we’re dealing with and come away with helpful suggestions for improving parts of the website that need attention. The SEO Writing Assistant has also been very useful for identifying relevant keywords and for comparing our work with that of our competitors. Site audit, a one-stop solution for starting the seo optimization, With all Excel breakdowns of issues, notices and normal warnings. As compared to Ahrefs, it is simpler and has better crawlers. The backlink spam score, could have been better so that normal links don't come under its radar. A rehaul of the spam algorithm would be an improvement I would like to see. The rank tracker is also always a little off in its approximations; for e.g., if my rank is 7 in a real-world scenario, it will show as 10-11. a +-10% variation is fine & workable, but not more. Also, why I should pay extra to unlock certain features like AI, one price should contain all features, it only when I need detailed reports or insights, then you may ask me to upgrade. The all-in-one dashboard is super intuitive to use, and we can set weekly crawls to keep us updated on the progress. Value for the price. I've used SEO software that cost over 40 thousand a year and I feel like I'm 90% equal with Semrush without breaking the bank. The UI is intuitive and offers a lot of options. I love that you can monitor different domains without any added cost. When it comes to performance, there hasn't been anything I've wanted to do that it wasn't able to handle. The only downsides are when you are working on a project and you reach a point where some of the add-on features would be helpful. Semrush saves me significant time on SEO and AEO research and benchmarking - I can quickly see where my site stands against competitors, and the specific opportunities I have to improve. What do you dislike about Semrush? My main issue is the limit on the number of downloads per day - this is a limiting factor when I want to synthesize reporting in other tools. If the Semrush MCP included AEO data, this would be a non-issue - but it doesn't at this point. Otherwise, the only thing I'd say is that there is a lot of data to comb through and sometimes it can be difficult to pull together into a cohesive report for others.
