What I like best about Prophix Software is that it has made our closing process more efficient, allows us to centralize all of our data (not just financial), and that the support team has been excellent. The tool is very flexible for customizing the software to our business needs and even if we need to rebuild the structures and data cubes. The experienced Prophix consultants are a pleasure to work with and very knowledgeable. The budget can be housed within Prophix rather than within multiple spreadsheets.

Other highlights are Multi-tiered Allocations, great at Variance Analysis, helps with budget streamlining, its flexible for building reports on almost anything in any format and staying powerful with analysis of huge volumes of data. Dashboard aspects is still a little weak, and graph editing could be better on the advanced graph editing; as excel is still more capable of that. This is powerful and flexible software that can report on almost anything! It can pull data from multiple sources and compile, present, and analyse it in an almost infinite number of different ways. Use it for reviewing variances year on year, or any other period(e.g. quarter, month) or budget vs actual, or generate your annual financial statements- name your reporting requirement, this program can do it. There's also lots of options for creating graphs and charts. Interactive dashboards and workflows can be set up to formalise and streamline processes. They have great customer support and a community of users with a dedicated forum for questions. They are constantly seeking feedback from their users and adding new improvements to their product. Like any other new software, this represents a huge investment in time, training, and supplier relationship. There is a great deal of software-specific jargon, although they are constantly working to simplify this, and improve the training available to users. Some steps can take a long time for the report to load. Some reports may be very difficult to build. That said they can help you redesign the report to run faster. Almost anything is possible with the right approach. They are based in Canada with a limited presence and customer base in Europe, and sometimes can feel very North-America specific. Prophix is user-friendly and intuitive enough for the non-tech savvy end user, yet powerful and flexible enough for creating robust, dynamic models and reports. It integrates seamlessly with existing tools and allows for a finance-focused structure that can adapt to the company's value stream and workflows. Automation and workflow management are a breeze; our budgeting and forecasting cycles have been streamlined so that we're able to focus more heavily on analysis, strategy, insights, and scenario/sensitivity testing. It's also remarkably scaleable so we're confident that the tool will grow with the company without any hitches. With automated reports and processes, my team can now focus on leveraging our data to drive the company forward instead of churning through piles of manual reports. Prophix quickly became an integral part of our daily workflow.

There's also a very involved and knowledgeable community that's able to provide ideas and insights on creative and obscure solutions to even the most complex use cases. The sales, implementation, consulting, and customer success teams are all extremely capable and friendly and it's clear that the entire Prophix team is dedicated to and motivated by your company's success! Because Prophix is meant to be a universal tool, it can take some creative problem-solving to adapt it to your needs, based on your company's complexity and data structure. It's a great addition to a reporting tool suite, but is not a replacement for tabular models like Power BI, for instance. As an example, Prophix uses a year/month aggregation for time data, so reporting and filtering data by day is not feasible outside of the Drill Across function. Implementation was over-promised and under-delivered. EDIT: this is now my second implementation of Prophix and while this statement still stands true, this second implementation did go better than the first. Prophix is powerful and intuitive. Which is not always something you see in one software. It makes finding data super easy with the slice and dice feature and you can build powerful templates to keep other stakeholders in the business informed about important financial data. Prophix is easy to use, easy to learn and doesn't need IT to be involved heavily for implementation. Customer support has been top notch and there is so much easy trainings to learn.
