"Helpful for financial reporting, but implementation can be challenging"
What do you like best about Datarails?

Datarails helps us organize and analyze financial data more efficiently, especially during the monthly close process. I mainly use it to analyze budget vs. actuals and to extract and structure data from SAP in a more convenient way.

It allows us to turn raw ERP data into clear and user-friendly reports and share financial insights with relevant stakeholders across the company. The ability to structure the data and present it in a way that supports decision-making is very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

The implementation process was quite long and sometimes complex. Many configurations cannot be done independently and require support from the Datarails team, which creates a dependency during the setup phase. We also experienced several technical issues during implementation.

In addition, we expected a more complete integration with banks. In practice, when working with different banks not all the data is available for extraction, so the functionality is still limited compared to what we initially hoped for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible, Excel-Based Single Source of Truth That Transformed Our Reporting"
What do you like best about Datarails?

The biggest strength of Datarails is its flexibility. Once you understand how the product works, it becomes incredibly powerful. It has enabled us to build a genuine single source of truth across CRM, finance, and HR systems.

The Excel foundation has been a major advantage for us. Rather than forcing significant change management, we enhanced an environment the business already understands, adding automation, control, and governance.

From an efficiency perspective alone, we’ve saved at least multiple days of rework per month — realistically close to one FTE’s worth of effort in a business of our size. But the bigger impact isn’t just time saved — it’s accuracy and insight. Having connected, structured data in one place has allowed us to generate insights we simply couldn’t before.

Most importantly, it has accelerated the maturity of the business. Instead of spending weeks pulling together one-off reports, we now have readily available, consistent performance data driving conversations in real time. That shift has been transformational. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

While the functionality is strong, dashboards are not the most user-friendly or dynamic compared to dedicated BI tools. That said, it is positioned as an Excel-based product, so this is partly expected.

The AI features are still in their early stages and not yet as impactful as they could be.

Board-level presentation output (e.g., pushing data into PowerPoint) could also be more developed and streamlined. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Datarails Makes Monthly Reporting and Budgeting Seamless"
What do you like best about Datarails?

The product makes my monthly processes a lot easier. I hold management account meetings once a month and it allows me to pull numbers from the system with ease. We have just gone through our budget process using datarails and it has been one of the easiest processes. Everything gets consolidated automatically and we can do review of the figures very easily which makes things a lot more seemless. I also like how the older versions of the files are all hosted on the platform which means if theres a mistake you can roll back the file very easily Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

There are a few quirks. nothing that is system breaking but you definately need to learn how to use the systems before you have a full grasp of all the features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for Organizing Financial Data and Standardizing Excel-Based Reporting"
What do you like best about Datarails?

Datarails is a great tool to organize and report on the financial data of your organization. I appreciate how it can integrate with Excel so well. It has a multitude of helpful features, and I'm looking forward to using it to expand and standardize the reporting for my organization. Aggie has been a wonderful expert and teacher for the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

Because of how in-depth the reporting can get, there is a bit of a learning curve/a significant amount of upfront time investment to learn the platform and validate the initial reports created. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"From Skeptic to Believer..."
What do you like best about Datarails?

The platform's ability to centralize multiple data sources seamlessly. We integrated two EHR/ERP systems, Paycom for HCM, and two other applications, and Datarails was able to crosswalk our chart of accounts historically to connect financials and aggregate data without losing anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

The UX sometimes gets glitchy when utilizing the 'Storyboards' narrative tool if you don't size or format the visuals to the board's native architecture. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Chanel Itzhaki Ganor of Datarails

Thank you Stephen for the great review! Going from skeptic to believer is quite the journey, and we're glad Datarails delivered on all your needs. Integrations are one of our specialties!

We appreciate the feedback on Storyboards, and please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team if you run into any issues.

"Datarails Transforms Financial Analysis with Powerful Data Mapping"
What do you like best about Datarails?

Previously, I worked at a company that had not invested in an FP&A tool, so I had to develop a complex mapping system in Excel to analyze month-end results and support better business decisions. Datarails has proven to be incredibly helpful in building that kind of mapping system, and with the right integrations, I am able to organize and examine my data exactly the way I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

The only consideration is getting buy-in from your non-finance users and having them properly understand what datarails is. What pieces of info are real time and what needs an asterisk next to it until the month is finalized. What is the difference between an FP&A tool and a data warehouse, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Annie Miller of Datarails

Thanks for taking the time to share, Joseph! We’re glad Datarails is helping you build the kind of flexible data mapping you need and giving you more control over how you analyze your results. It’s great to hear it’s reducing manual work and freeing you up to focus on high-impact FP&A work instead of repetitive tasks.

"Datarails is an excellent tool for automating financial reporting package"
What do you like best about Datarails?

Datarails offers a seamless integration with Quickbooks online. It allows me to have complete access to all of my financial accounting information directly in Excel, as well as on the web-based portal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

Nothing of note, it's a great tool for enhancing and automating reporting. The only feature I would like improvements on is speed and nimbleness of drill down functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent Support and Real-Time Reporting with the Excel Add-In"
What do you like best about Datarails?

The customer experience at Datarails has been excellent. From initiation and data integration to going live, I have found our contacts have been very helpful and responsive whenever we have a query. Always fixing, recommending a fix or directing us to Datarails education sources which has been very beneficial.

Datarails has enabled us to do real time updates on our reporting really easily through the excel add in. This has sped up all of report generation and presentations to management.

The drill down function has been particularly helpful as any questions raised, using this functions allows us to get to an answer quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

At times, I found the initial data input a bit confusing. As datarails wants to show everything in a format that is 'positive' on the balance sheet, the concept of the multiplying the liabilities by -1 to get to this was a bit difficult initially and also meant it was a bit difficult to tie back to internal reports as the signage was changed. However, I do understand why this is being done for presentational reasons. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Chanel Itzhaki Ganor of Datarails

It is great to hear that the implementation process went smoothly and that our team proactively helps answer questions as they come up. We love that the Excel add in and drill down capabilities have helped speed up reporting and make it easier to answer questions in real-time.

Regarding the balance sheet signage, we get it. It can take a moment to get used to the positive presentation and the use of the -1 multiplier when first working with the data. We do our best to keep the experience as close to Excel as possible, though there are a few technical constraints behind the scenes that require this approach. Luckily, most teams find that once they get used to it, it becomes second nature.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback and experience!

"Flexible, Excel-Friendly, Great visualization with Helpful Drill-Downs"
What do you like best about Datarails?

I like the flexibility and familiarity of Datarails, especially since it works seamlessly with Excel sheets. Being able to drill down into the details without having to log in to a different system—both from the dashboard and directly in Excel—is really helpful. I also appreciate that it comes with illustrations, which is a great touch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

Sometimes Datarails has downtime, or what seem like bugs. When that happens, I have to close all the files and restart my laptop to get things working again. It would also be great if Datarails had customer support and a developer team based in Asia, so it’s easier to connect with them and resolve issues more quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Chanel Itzhaki Ganor of Datarails

It's great to hear that working in Excel and being able to drill into details from both dashboards and spreadsheets has been helpful for your workflow.

Regarding occasional downtime or issues, we appreciate you mentioning this. If something like this happens again, your Customer Success Manager or our support team can usually help troubleshoot quickly.

While we may not always be in the same region, our Customer Success and support teams work across multiple time zones, so there is almost always someone available to help. Thanks again for taking the time to leave a review!

"Real-Time Multi-Source Sync with Flexible Outputs and Strong Excel Integration"
What do you like best about Datarails?

I am enjoying the syncing of multiple data sources and having access to them in real time. The option to output data in multiple formats such as visualizations, reports, and storyboards is great. Lastly, the integration with Excel is unlocking powerful leverage from our data and combining it with the functionality of Excel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Datarails?

The pricing structure of seat types is challenging. I would love viewer seats in bulk so outputs can be distributed without limiting workarounds. On the foundational side, it’s challenging that changes to data mappers are not automatically updated through out existing dashboard and reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Chanel Itzhaki Ganor of Datarails

Thank you Stephen for the thoughtful review! We are glad to hear that real-time multi-source syncing, flexible outputs, and the Excel-native integration are making a real difference for your team.

If you want to distribute outputs to non-viewers, Datarails has a solution for that. The recommended option is Export as Values, which converts the sheet to static values so it can be viewed without platform access. Check out the link below for details, and if you are not seeing that option, your Customer Success Manager can quickly show you how it works.

We would also love to connect on the Data Mapper feedback, as there may be some dashboard settings around automatic date updates that could resolve this. Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager and we will make sure you are getting the most out of the dashboards.
