## Poser Reviews
  ### 1. Great Software but needs more explanation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** G G. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Poser?**

Software is versatile and allows you to make animations--I just haven't figured it out yet, but once I do it will probably be used pretty frequently in my work.

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

It's a little more complicated and time consuming than I thought. Still trying to figure it out... I'm no animator, I'm in marketing but I can see the benefit for marketing purposed once I learn how to use this software.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It will allow me to create animations for marketing purposes.

  ### 2. Affordable Human 3D Animation with Poser Pro

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Animation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Poser?**

Poser allows the user to create complex, realistically rendered 3-D images and animations at an entry level price point far below that of most 3D modelling and animation systems. This is possible because Poser's open ended architecture supports a broad after market of figures, models, textures, and presets in a wide variety of subjects. While the marketplace can tend to be weighted toward the sci-fi/fantasy/superhero genres, there's a good mix of "real world" clothing, furniture, props, and scenery. Additionally, "morph targets" are available to modify the standard figures, and the application provides options for generating your own (with a bit of practice). There's also support for dynamic hair and clothing (that responds to "physics), a robust, multi-layer shader system, and export to widely supported formats like OBJ, STL, and FBX. There are several rendering engines, and output plug-ins to support export to higher end systems like Max, Maya, or Lightwave.

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

Poser's greatest detriment is that it's something of an orphan software. It's bounced around from one major software vendor to another without always having the best support or needed R&D funding. The most current owner is Renderosity, the largest of the aftermarket model vendor communities, but it's current development has slowed significantly. In fairness, though, this is likely to be the best place for it, since it's connected to the largest number of end users. There are few competitors, but it's a niche product. Adding more features to bring it in line with higher end systems will likely price it out of the hobbyist range it was developed for, and excels at.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using the software since version one. Originally it was designed as a digital system to replace the artist's mannequin or live models. Along about version three the ability to create content broke open the third party market and it became a powerful tool for actual art and later, rendered animation. I personally have used it to create corporate training films for Fortune 500 companies, illustrated advertising content, graphic novel and comic book work, and extensively for the original purpose of providing and artists reference. While I have not personally used it for the purpose, I know of several people who are creating 3D printed figures using it. I have also combined it with Newtek Lightwave 3D, and E-on Vue to produce short films for competition.

  ### 3. Poser is a great program for learning

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Poser?**

The library system is easy to use and find your content

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

The interface is clunky and hasn't changed in years, it needs an update to something modern but it is good for new users

**Recommendations to others considering Poser:**

While a bit clunky with the overblown graphic interface, poser is a great way to get into 3D. It needs updating as it hasn't changed in many years but the features will get you where you want to go. And tons of content is available either for sale or for free if you know where to look.
Create stunning images, and animations, this program has draping and other capabilities.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the buisness is creating content for this program, testing products for this program.

  ### 4. User-Friendly CG Studio

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Poser?**

- easy to use, little learning curve

- cheaper than Autodesk programs

- the newer versions support animation!

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

Since it is a simpler platform, there's not as much control over creating new parameters for joints or re-rigging items like you would in a more advanced program.

**Recommendations to others considering Poser:**

It's a perfect starter program. I've even recognized elements from Poser used in a Linkin Park video and some CD covers.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this for fun. For client work with quick turnaround, this was a good way to produce quick content with low render time and pre-made models.

  ### 5. Poser software review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arthur B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Poser?**

Poser is a handy software for people looking to experiment or integrate complete human body models in an intuitive and reasonably easy to learn interface.

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

I've used this software a while ago and it was very easy to create models and positions. On the down side the software tries to be more than it actually is, presenting a somewhat confusing render/animation interface and extensive 3D features that are commonly solved through more generic 3D software workflows (like 3D max, maya, Rhino and so on). Although the version I tried is probably outdated, I could spot some minor bugs and glitches, but I'm sure they've sorted this by now.

**Recommendations to others considering Poser:**

Poser deserves as much respect as any other specialized 3D software developer. If you have the business resources and need their models/software/features for a job or project, do the right thing and support their team. Community support is the only way small businesses like this can survive and evolve to greater versions, considering they have to put up with an extremely unbalanced 3D software market, dominated by some very big companies out there.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wasn't sorting any business problems, just working around human manequin, bodies, hand models and etc so I could export the models into some academic-presentation purpose scenes. A quick and easy way if you don't want to model each human part or body for 3D compositions.

  ### 6. My experience with Poser

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chester H. | Graphic Designer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Poser?**

I used a lot of 3D programs when I was back in college, and I loved the way how the program works. It is very convienient for me as a user. I used to work with a lot of characters in my art work, and I just don't want to model an entire character from scratch, it just takes too much of my time, in order to shorten my time, I tend to utilize Poser a lot, I modify a lot of the character features in Poser and export them to obj then import to Maya.

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

I thought the user interface was a little confusing, maybe it's just for me.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time management, saved lots of my time when I use Poser.

  ### 7. Intuitive and easy to get hight quality characters

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Poser?**

The best thing about Poser is the capacity to build quickly and easily complicated human positions. So, It is very useful for my work as a graphic artist in the editorial area, where time is money and at the same time you need careful graphics.
The program is very intuitive so you can use without any knowlegde. The different cameras are very helpful too to have a better control.

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

It is a complementary program, that I don't use so often as Ilustrator and photoshop. So, sometimes I feel frustrated when in the torsion of one arm, for example, ends completely deformed. The lighting are tricky too. Anyway, I must confess that I still am a basic user.

**Recommendations to others considering Poser:**

I hightly recommend to graphics artist that need quickly and quality characters for their graphics. Furthermore, it is a good option to work with other 3D programs as Cinema 4D.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I get personalized characters in the positions I need for my graphics. Besides it offers different kinds of render options from the traditional 3D to the drawing style, so it better adapts to the style of your production.

  ### 8. Best posing software for my illustration works

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maciej F. | Freelance illustrator, Arts and Crafts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Poser?**

Quick posing and export to lwo (Modo) for more enhancement

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

Accuracy of model deformation (Poser 10)

**Recommendations to others considering Poser:**

You must try a trial but this is a tool which you can learn fast and start serious work "immediately"

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Verry quick solution to not build human models from scratch, pose them quickely and integrate in scenes in external 3D software. Clients love to have quick previews to respond on them and have corrections.

  ### 9. Very happy and impressed with Poser software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan S. | Chief Operating Officer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Poser?**

I liked that the marketplace was full of items as well as the finite details available to customize little things.

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

This isn't a knock on the software as much as my own hardware but the rendering time for me often took serious time and I couldn't upgrade my hardware then to help.

**Recommendations to others considering Poser:**

Take your time to learn the software inside and out so understand some of the underused features available.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was doing it for fun but currently have not been doing Poser for a few years.

  ### 10. Base pose/model creation

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2016

**What do you like best about Poser?**

wide variety of models, library of poses, easy to morph bodies

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

User interface is a big problem of Poser, hard to control poses, very hard to navigate, a bit too slow,
final exported models are not perfect, required a lot afterwork in other 3d modeling programs

**Recommendations to others considering Poser:**

I would recommend Poser if you need not very detailed models of humans and animals
with possibility of easy to change poses

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Result-i can get generic human 3d models in poses i need in short amount of time

  ### 11. Thinking about Poser

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Poser?**

Realistic representations are very important in design concepts. As of to understand human dimensions beside the product. Poser id a good tool to custom this matter whithout depend of photomontages.

**What do you dislike about Poser?**

I think that Poser's person position os a little bit unnatural if you are bit a proffesional with experience in this software.

**Recommendations to others considering Poser:**

Spontanity faces. Post production pictures.

**What problems is Poser solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With this tool, I have been capable to represent a human use of my 3D projects. The pay of my projects were the literal benefit.
