## About PikeOS
PikeOS is a real-time operating system (RTOS) and hypervisor developed by SYSGO, designed for safety-critical and security-critical embedded systems. It combines the capabilities of a traditional RTOS with the flexibility of virtualization, enabling multiple independent applications—each potentially with different safety and security requirements—to run on the same hardware platform. At its core, PikeOS uses a partitioned architecture, meaning that each application or "guest operating system" runs in its own secure environment, isolated from others. This ensures that a fault in one application does not affect the operation of others, which is vital in industries like aerospace, automotive, industrial automation, railway, and defense. Each partition can run its own operating system or runtime environment, including Linux, Android, Windows, POSIX, AUTOSAR, or even bare-metal applications. PikeOS is certified or certifiable according to various safety and security standards, such as DO-178C (aerospace), ISO 26262 (automotive), IEC 61508 (industrial), and Common Criteria (cyber security), making it suitable for deployment in environments where compliance and assurance are essential. In addition to its robust technical foundation, PikeOS is supported by a comprehensive toolset, including the CODEO IDE for development, debugging, and configuration. This enables developers to efficiently manage complex embedded systems throughout the entire development lifecycle. By integrating real-time performance, virtualization, and strict partitioning, PikeOS offers a future-proof platform for building embedded systems that demand high reliability, safety, and security.

## PikeOS Reviews
 ### 1. Reliable Partition Hypervisor Built Specifically for Safety-Critical Industrial Equipment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Epoch M. | Embedded Safety Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about PikeOS?**

The pre-verified ISO 26262 compliance documentation is my top favorite feature. It saves our team weeks of work each project, as we don’t need to create audit evidence from scratch. The hard separation between software partitions also gives us huge peace of mind. Any crashes in background logging or monitoring services never leak into our core machine control code, so our industrial hardware maintains steady, predictable operation under all load conditions. Running safety and auxiliary software on one unified board also cuts our overall hardware costs noticeably.

**What do you dislike about PikeOS?**

New low-power industrial chip support releases at a slow pace, forcing us to manually port most peripheral drivers ourselves. Debugging cross-partition communication latency is cumbersome too; the native tools have no intuitive visual charts to pinpoint bottlenecks. Worse still, there’s no graphical interface to tweak CPU and memory allocations for partitions—all configuration must be written manually in raw text files, which is prone to human error.

**What problems is PikeOS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

 ### 2. PikeOS: Secure Mixed-Criticality and Real-Time Virtualization in One Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vijaysing P. | Test Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about PikeOS?**

The most interesting thing about PikeOS is that it is able to provide mixed-criticality systems within a single platform without compromising the isolation, reliability, and security required. The combination of real-time characteristics and virtualization makes it very suitable for use in safety-critical sectors like aerospace, automotive, and industrial control.

**What do you dislike about PikeOS?**

nothing to add this time from my side everything seems fine

**What problems is PikeOS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PikeOS resolves the issue of executing both safety-critical as well as non-critical applications together using one system while still ensuring isolation, security, and real-time capabilities. Some advantages of PikeOS include the reduction of necessary hardware, ease of system design, better resource usage, and compliance with safety standards.

 ### 3. Great experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew O. | Technical Writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2026

**What do you like best about PikeOS?**

Its robust separation kernel and real-time performance make it a great fit for safety-critical applications. I also appreciate its support for mixed-criticality systems and the ability to run multiple guest OSes.

**What do you dislike about PikeOS?**

The documentation can be quite dense, and the learning curve is steep for new users. Toolchain integration could also be more intuitive.

**What problems is PikeOS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PikeOS addresses the challenge of running mixed-criticality applications on a single hardware platform by ensuring strong isolation and real-time performance. This reduces hardware costs, simplifies system certification, and enhances system reliability for safety-critical environments.

 ### 4. PIKEOS PRINCIPALS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey K. | VICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2025

**What do you like best about PikeOS?**

ONE OF THE KEY FEATURES OF PIKEOS IS ITS ABILITY TO EXECUTE APPLICATIONS WITH DIFFERENT SAFETY AND SECURITY LEVELS CONCURRENTLY ON THE SAME COMPUTING PLATFORM. IS WIDELY USED IN EMBEDDED SYSTEMS IoT.

**What do you dislike about PikeOS?**

COMPARED TO MAINSTREAM OPERATING SYSTEMS, PIKEOS HAS A LIMITED ECOSYSTEM, WHICH CAN MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO ATTAIN COMMUNITY SUPPORT WITH COMPATIBLE SOFTWARE LIBRARIES.USERS FIND THE LIMITED APPLICATIONS AND STORE OF PIKEOS CHALLENGING FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND COMPATIBLE SOFTWARE AVAILABILITY.
