For example, even though most projects I work with are English-Spanish, I have to set up the proper quotation marks every time. I have used it with different clients and the results have been good. The quality of the MT output was quite accurate. The preview mode and the filter are very useful. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** Personally, I find the appearance a bit distracting. There are some parts of the screen I'd like to hide. It offers every functionality I need and both the online and offline versions always work reliably. I have used other software in the past that was way too complicated and even caused hours of work to be lost, but that never happens with Phrase. Once you send your work to the server, you can rest assured it was saved safe and sound. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** Honestly, it's hard to find fault with the software. Every once in a while, there will be functionality I need and can't find, but the online documentation always leads me right to it! The only issue I can think of (and which might be technically insurmountable) is the problem that tags can cause when using the find-and-replace function (if there is a tag next to or in the middle of the text you want to change, the tags can prevent the text from being found). There are usually easy workarounds for this though. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is hands-down the best software for managing translation and proofreading or editing projects. It is easy to upload and download files and set up/accept/complete projects. ### 6. It helped to streamline our development process in so many ways. It made the working lives better for frontend, backend, design, UX, marketing, etc. It saves a lot of time and head-scratching. It removed text/copy-writing as a bottleneck; in short, as long as the key is in the code and the language file is part of your repository, you're good to go. For UX Writers/Content Designers, the interface brings focus and removes all the annoying administrative work that came before. Auto-translation/Pre-translation rocks. Selecting your own preferred translation service (Google Translate, Deepl, etc) and combining that with the termbase we set up in Phrase saves a lot of time. It opened up the possibility to easily add another language to our products, which made our customers very happy. Access to the Phrase API made it possible for us to set up a workflow where we auto-export every day, which creates a merge request in Gitlab. A bot we built auto-approves the Phrase merge request and merges it. No developer involved in bringing improved texts to our users. Price/quality is insanely good: competitors who might be better are 10x more expensive (and marginally better). I've done both the integration/admin part and also using it as UX Writer myself: it's wonderful from all those perspectives. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** Getting accustomed to the interface took a while, and getting to the desired page can take some clicking around. We made a big order via Phrase and paid quite a lot of money, while in turn the term base was not used. Apparently, it's better to use the Advanced Textmaster integration. A heads-up would've been nice before placing the order. We didn't receive any apologies or refunds. We won't be ordering any translations via Phrase anymore. We split up our frontend in several projects, which makes syncing of keys not ideal. Figma plugin works nicely, but it took a while. It doesn't handle bulk actions; auto-detect which key should link with an existing text layer (even when content is exactly the same) is not available. Other solutions do this better but haven't spent the same time with them as with Phrase. It's not that big of a deal, just make sure you start with Phrase right after creating a Figma file. It's worth the time investment when you start copying designs and handover to development. Over the Air feature for mobile apps looks cool at first impression, but it has more downsides than simply pulling the latest language files when building a new release (and with our weekly release schedule errors are fixed quickly). **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** Removes bottlenecks: design adds a Phrase key and placeholder text in Figma designs, development can continue by already implementing the key and doesn't have to wait until the UX Writer has completed the final texts in Phrase. It auto-translates to all the available languages in our products, which saves time and removes it as a bottleneck. ### 9. Since its implementation our localization processes have run smoothly - we used to dedicate many hours and people to process new translations, with Phrase we have significantly reduce the time invested. Phrase was simple to implement, it's easy to use and has great customer support - anytime I have a question I get a quick and well structure answer. Worth to mention, with machine translations our translators process new translations quickly and effortlessy. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** The "excluding keys" feature could use some improvements. You could place comments and discuss the options inside the product - Auto-suggestions of the translations used for similar terms in other parts of the products + dictionary - Branch logic – you need to create separate branches to merge changes. You could review all the changes before merging. Still, you could look up the current translations in the current master branch **What do you dislike about Phrase?** - Figma plugin to push the screenshots to the copy keys doesn't work well – our designers have to attach screenshots for new copy keys manually - Jobs are deleted straight after merging the branch in which they are created. Why could we see which jobs we finished? - They have only integration with Jira Cloud and we use Jira Server – so couldn't take advantage of this. I had to get some technical support from experts. If it has any downside probably it's that the early stages of the setup could be a little frustrating. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest problem that we translators face especially in such big translation projects as what3words is the problem of coordination. When multiple people work on the same project the likelihood of committing errors increases. The development team is also alwasy responsive when there are issues. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** One thing I dislike about Phrase is that the functionality is very limited for translators working in Phrase under an agency's license. However. it would be great if the system could process pdf files (though it might be a restriction just for academic license users). **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** I teach CAT tools at the university. To me. Phrase is an ideal instrument for familiarizing translation students with cutting-edge technology and simulating lifelike environments for translation project management. ### 26. It is very easy to onboard all the country locales and add the keys and the values. The changes we make in Phrase instantly reflect in the application, there is no need of deployment. Everything is on the flow and ready for testing. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** I faced issues with the initial setup and integrate with our application. Our application was a java application and the jar was not available in the maven repository. The jar was made available after raising the ticket to Phrase support. It doesn't offer as many options as other tools, but unless you're tyring to do something very specific, it has pretty much everything you need. I particularly like the fact that you can check the TM results for other target languages, as it can be very useful to ensure consistency and see different approaches to translate a sentence. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** It has limited personalization options and the UI is rather dry looking. The new design hides several options that used to be more visible. The search tool could also be improved, as it's difficult to find results when you search several words, even when you use quotation marks. Occasionally, I encounter an error in which the text cursor and the part of the text where you're actually typing don't match. It would also be fantastic if error messages looked visually different. Me and many colleagues have clicked on "Complete" on a task after a QA check only to find out days later that the client never received the file because Phrase didn't show one single QA issue and the file couldn't be submitted. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's a basic CAT tool that works for most jobs. The fact that it's online it's quite convenient, as you don't need to manage files. It's not my favourite tool, but works well and it's a fine option. ### 28. The translation memories and term bases are well programmed and function extremely well. This is quite helpful, but what is even more practical are the double blue arrows which show which segment in the job is the first one of the repeated segments, which can be needed when wanting to change a whole series of repeated segments by making changes to just one. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** At this point, I cannot recommend any changes. It is easy to integrate with APIs and Connectors. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** Showing matches in the CAT tab sometimes becomes confusing and the Search function would need some refinement. The interface is straight forward, clean and the tool itself has all the necessary options to make your job easier. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** There is very little negative to say about Phrase TMS as a CAT tool but if I have to make an example it would be that it's options bar is very short and could have been extended more to the right and filled with more buttons thus saving the user some time which he would spend seraching through drop down menus above it for the action he needs to do. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** Phrase TMS is currently helping me with my work, tasks and homework as a student.
