By using Lokalise we no longer have to manually handle the nightmare of having multiple language files with with multiple translators in parallel. We have had so many human errors in our past. Now, we simply invite our translators to the platform and assign tasks to each one of them. Branching, mobile SDKs, and integrations with Bitbucket makes it so easy to deploy the translations to all our platforms without having to sorry about conflicts messing up our translations.
From our translators perspective, having screenshot available with the tasks is the absolute best feature. The design tool plugins (Adobe XD in our case) allows us to generate screenshots early in the development process, in ordet to get translations done fast, and to review the designs in all our target language.
All in all, one of the best investments we have made to upgrade our design, development, and sales process and strategies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At first, the price tag for the PRO plan was a bit hard to digest. However, we use volunteers for our translations, and keeping them happy will save us a lot of money in return. Yet, the number of included seats is a bit off compared to our requirements. We're a small company with under 10 target languages. It will take some time for us to get the full value of the 15 included seats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My startup prototyped a localization solution for 11 languages using Lokalise and we found it easy to use yet highly scalable for the future with Github and Figma integration. We liked the UI as it was easy to see the translations and also identified data entry mistakes in our previous solution. We ordered a few batches of translations, which were done within 2 days and seemed to be of good quality thus far. The sales and customer service teams were very friendly, responsive and helpful in answering questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For a smaller team, we would have liked to see more flexible pricing options for a fewer number of seats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Thanks to Lokalise we could in an easy way get our mobile app, webapp and automatic emails to be translated. We really appreciate the fact that it sends out tasks to our internal translators in order to quickly get the work done.
Now that we upgraded to pro because we needed to localise our help center, there has been plenty more benefits. We use or plan to use localise wherever we can: websites, blog posts, Figma.. You name it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If I had to say something negative, it would be that it is sometimes hard to know the context of a translation when it is just a short string in localise. Even though you can figure out through the link, the translators might not have that extensive product knowledge that they understand what it stands for.
We have had some trouble with our own words in the product like "wallet" which translated literally would sound a bit funny in swedish for example. For that we needed to create an extensive glossary which is a bit time consuming. But it is great when set up properly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The core product covers the most I need from the localization platform. And it has even more to surprise you. Some things are not tailored for the all use cases. But the support team carefully listens and helps you with current solution. As well developers are working on the most requested feature set. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is hell expensive. I don't know any other platform that is not so affordable for the small business.
With the popularity of the system the feature request will take ages now unless it is also request by many others.
I'm missing also general recommendation how to handle translation process. It is probably impossible but I would except at least some use cases and tips.
Some use cases are not covered, for example a gradle plugin is missing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lokalise has a very user-friendly interface, the filters and tags are extremely helpful in keeping everything organised and the in-line editor which synchs in both directions is a very neat little tool. Even just being able to attach screenshots to provide context has been a huge timesaver. Overall, Lokalise does exactly what it's supposed to do and the constant development has improved the software already so much over the time I've been working with it. However, the most noteworthy thing is the outstanding customer support that deals with questions and issues in record time.
EDIT 12/2020: I just wanted to emphasise again, how great the support is. They recently helped me clean up the translation memories for our various projects, something I wouldn't have been able to do on my own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'll happily award all the stars when Lokalise provides better contributor stats and cost tracking. We're working mainly with external translators and need to be able to easily keep an eye on those metrics. CS has already informed me that this is on their radar and I can't wait for this to be implemented - Lokalise will be the one-stop solution for localisation and translation management then.
EDIT 12/2020: It is now possible to download CSVs that split up each task into contributors and match percentages which helps with cost calculation after translation. I can now track costs outside of Lokalise in a separate spreadsheet - obviously, it would be more elegant if this was also integrated in Lokalise itself. Now that I have created a large number of tasks with it, I'm hoping that the task management will be improved in future (maybe into a Kanban-type format, added search) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Developers love that
* They have cli tools and sdks that are open source
* slack integration
* support for plurals multiplatform
* support for placeholders multiplatform
Designers love that
* You can attach photos on every key
* figma/sketch integration
Copy writers love that
* they own the content because they no longer rely on developers
* search tool is amazing
Overall, Lokalise empowers the content creators and reduces the work for developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lokalise has so many great features and I hope that they can provide more pricing options e.g. you can get discount for not using some features Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have to say, that I enjoy Localise in general.
The simple, clear interface, a lot of supported languages. Localise is also easy to set up and use!
And I just need to tell that I love their customer support, never failed us! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is no way to update translations on the web right away, you will always need to deploy your changes. But if to be honest, I do not think that any toll can offer this feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We just migrated to Lokalise.com and the whole team enjoyed the experience. Lokalise's Customer Success Managers enabled us to transition to the platform within just a few days by being very responsive and flexible. We are working in a corporate business setup where approvals for new software can take a lot of time. With the help of Lokalise we could quickly resolve concerns regarding GDPR and invoicing / payment which greatly improved our onboarding time & experience.
Other highlights:
- Very good integration into our development flow
- High quality translations (including legal documents like privacy policy and terms of use)
- Always delivered on time (we right away needed translations for ~15.000 words in 16 European languages within 3 business days)
- Amazing team behind the product that truly wants their customers to succeed. Big, big plus. :-) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
... nothing really (we use the service for roughly 2 months now).
If there is one feature that I would love to see it would be to be able to invite native speaker colleagues to review the translations but without requiring a payed seat for doing that. Zeplin has a similar concept for giving feedback on designs by inviting "Aliens" to specific projects only to comment - we think this would suit this type of product as well and would make Lokalise.com stand out from the competition. And it should not actually hurt monetization of the service.
Another minor complaint would be that SSO (SAML) is considered an "enterprise feature" whereas nowadays every company regardless of size would want to make use of this. At least adding this to the PRO plan as well should be something being considered by the Lokalise Team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
First and foremost, the team are extremely communicative and helpful. Every question we asked was answered in minutes and they gave us fantastic and friendly assistance to get us onboarded swiftly. 100% awesome.
The QA feature found literally thousands of errors throughout our translations — we had missed these for *years* using our previous tool.
We export our translations for use in an iOS and Android app — there are variable placeholders in several files and Lokalise makes it super simple to define these so they are exported to the correct format for the target platform; no need to write scripts to convert from iOS "%@" to Android "%s" etc...
Additionally, we love the platform-specific features; being able to specifically disable a key for export on iOS or Android, or change the name of the key when exported, so that it can match that platform's conventions.
The pricing model is sensible, you are charged on translation keys and not penalised for adding new languages. Again, this is way better than other solutions on the market.
When importing translations, Lokalise is intelligent and recognises the language.
All the modern (and obscure) localisation formats that we needed were available.
The web interface is intuitive and easy to learn, you can tab across navigate quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing really, this has been a real upgrade in process and quality for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Since we use Lokalise as our translation tool we saved a lot of time (and miscommunication) among all teams. Our Product, Marketing and Customer Success team is using it for all kind of translation tasks, from long blogposts to short applications texts, we add all our content. Due to the review tasks, we have less error-prone and the e-mail notifications make sure everyone delivers in times.
And last but not least, besides the tool itself, you get personal (and very quick) support for all your questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not all the new Pro features that Lokalise added have matured yet. But they take feedback very seriously and do updates regularly so I am confident we can start using them soon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have been most impressed with the level of support offered by Lokalise staff, from the chat team to our account manager who has always been very responsive and helpful and took the time to explain things in detail at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't identified anything that I can say I dislike about Lokalise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lokalise is such a powerful tool. I almost don't know where to start and where to stop...
First maybe all the integrations, from git to Figma. The later allows us to see in the mockups directly if the localised versions are looking nice and not, as before, in the preview app version.
It allows me as l10n manager to keep track on the workflow and tasks of so many projects, languages and contributors. And it is a tremendous support when it comes to QA, starting from consistency providing support with glossary and translation memory and ending with QA filters for missing placeholders, whitespaces and URLs.
I also allows for screenshots to give the contributors a lot of context.
Apart from all the lovely features, they have a super nice and fast customer support! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I tried to include a double child task with English proofrading as first task, that triggers then a please translate task, that, once completed, triggers a please review task. This is unfortunately not possible yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Powerful and reliable product: it has anything you need to ease the localization management.
- Picture context (a must for us): will improve the translation quality.
- Great bulk task options: tagging, verify translation, clear translations, pseudolocalize, fill with Translation Memory, restore the last TM.
. Many import & export options (build to your system / download files)
. Great internal localization service: high quality, very reasonable delivery times and prices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing really, If I had to say something, I would say that some PRO features, such as TM management (related to the translation management), could maybe be Essential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lokalise is always one step ahead of you. Every time I realize that I need something, I discover they already implemented it. The platform is super intuitive yet powerful, saves you a ton of time and perfectly streamlines the entire localization operation.
Integrations are super useful. Plus awesome instant support... you can't wish for more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing comes to mind, the platform provides everything I need.
Perhaps integration to Microsoft Teams would be nice (similar to the existing Slack integration), I guess it's on the roadmap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Working with Lokalise is simple, smooth and clear. The interface is intuitive, you just can't do anything wrong or "break" the system. Smart translation memory, statistics module, export/import tools, customizable filters are among our favorite features. You can create a translation or proofreading task in two minutes – it's as simple as that. Also we are super excited to start using the Figma plugin with Lokalise which should increase the efficiency of our team.
On top of that, Lokalise customer support is always responsive and very helpful. Highly recommend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some minor visual bugs, nothing serious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Permissions management for internal and external users, collaboration tools between translators/ verifiers, etc.
Machine translations and automations tools to accelerate translation process.
Great customer support and success teams to provide technical advice and best practices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Have not found anything yet, all looks good Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We weren't happy with our old localisation tool and therefore switched to lokalise.io a few years back and it's so much better. It's intuitive and easy to use and the integration is seamless. All the features you would need are there even for more complex projects and processes. Can only recommend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only improvement suggestion I have is for comments being enabled on translation level per language too, and not just on the key itself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lokalise is truly customer focused company. The customer support is amazing. The support team is very responsive and the communication is very clear too. Our account manager (Alesya) went above and beyond trying to understand our specific API integration use cases and provided clear responses to each of the item of feedback we had.
Localise UI is amazing in my opinion and offers very good translation experience. It's very intuitive and it's very easy to use as well.
Service prices are very "democratic" and are affordable even for small companies with complex localisation needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We missed a couple of small features that we previously saw in another provider. Those features were specific to our custom logic and our very custom API integration workflow. On the other side Lokalise provided some unique features that our previous provider didn't have before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lokalise product rock, it is user friendly, with the right amount of complexity and simplicity. It's perfectly build to be use for the most basics reasons but also has the right advanced tools to achieve more complex structure and processes. Customer support is great, they really know their product and have solution to almost anything, they go beyond the sole availabilities of their features and try to think outside the box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bug fixing turnaround time could be improved. Consistencies across same action being triggered through different streams (UI, API, CSV upload) needs to be improved. Visibility on outstanding bugs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
