Combined with Odoo studio, you can configure the already great purchase module how you want. I currently can see not only the current stock requests on a request for quote, but also the forcasted quantity, the quantity on hand, and how many we sold last year. The chatter keeps employees up to date on the latest goings on and eliminates the "water cooler" chat we used to need to stay on top of things. 1. In the document status you have three stages, RFQ>RFQ Sent>Purchase Order. I wish there were a fourth stage "PO Sent".

2. The status "Fully Billed" displays even when there are open items waiting to be received on a PO.

3. Vendors don't always reply to your PO's and this can break up the chatter, but that would be true in any system.

What I don't like is that when you need to make a credit note or a discount to the invoice, many times it does not accept the tax receipt number and you have to wait for it to be synchronized or to call support Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The user interface is my favorite part of Odoo Purchasing. I've found most business software looks like windows 95 with tiny text and bland menus. It may seem like a small thing, but having an intuitive interface with color coded buttons and larger text makes working with the software so much easier. And it doesn't dumb it down at all to get that clean interface. The software is capable of managing all of your purchasing needs with a lot of flexibility to fine tune automations. There is a little bit of a learning curve to get the software just how you want it, but this is pretty typical from my experience. You might need some work arounds or small customizations to the sofware in order to make it work exactly the way you want it. But once you get it implemented it runs very smoothly. Purchase makes it easy for me to manage and place orders with vendors. The first steps is to create and RFQ in the event I need a quote. If there is a standard price list, I can convert that to an order right away and send it to them. Because it integrates with other apps, I am able to turn order from the Sales app into purchase orders right away using the Drop ship feature in the Inventory app. Super slick! Carrying out the purchasing process is simple and straightforward. The workflow can be adapted to each organization, starting from the execution of purchase planners (according to the replenishment rules established in team/warehouse), which creates a supply request that quickly turns into a budget and then into a purchase order, all with just a few clicks. Once the purchase order is confirmed, it opens in two ways: supplier invoice (where it pulls all the purchase lines and you only need to enter the invoice number and a few other details) and the delivery note to receive the goods into the warehouse. While different values from different suppliers can be set for products and even the currency can be selected for each case, the handling of multiple currencies could be better, especially when generating product lists where it would be convenient to have separate columns for each currency. The purchasing application integrates well with Inventory and Accounting. The biggest thing you need to realize with Odoo is that it is transactional, meaning that when things change they do not always propagate. Let me explain.

When you create a PO and you confirm the system creates a receipt based on the purchase. First shortcoming is that you cannot have multiple receipts for a PO, for this you use a Blanket Order which creates multiple POs (not great). You actually can have multiple receipts, it is just that you create backorders for remaining qty. I wandered, sorry. If the PO changes you actually need to cancel the PO, change and then reconfirm. This then cancels the first receipt and creates a new one.

Another trait of Odoo is that everything is based on locations. Transactions are created to move items from one location to another. There are virtual locations (vendor, customer, inventory adjustment, scrap) and actual locations (warehouse, or whatever location you want to define) Remembering this and the previous paragraph makes understanding Odoo much easier.

Please also note that although this may seem critical and technical, I absolutely love working with the Odoo application. It is the easiest, most user friendly ERP I have used in my 25 year career. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is easy to make mistakes and not always easy to clean up after the mistakes. This is part of what makes Odoo great actually. The ease of use makes users bold too quickly, then they forget to think about what they are doing and make mistakes. This is not a huge issue, we have maybe 1-2 mistakes a month on thousands of transactions.

Second, don't use Odoo for support. Use a third party. We use a US based company and are very happy with support, but we started out contracting directly with Odoo and they are overwhelmed and slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

You're not allowed to modify the changes in the purchases process, i.e., receive a product and return it to receive again, i.e. a warranty or refund request, it's impossible to perform, also credit slips have a weird behavior because if you mark to refund in inventory it works differently than in sales module, and when you generate a credit slip is very confusing.
