But the kicker is Nuxeo Studio, the proprietary configuration engine. Much of what may get customized in Nuxeo can be done "headless" via the APIs and this is how I have approached its use to date. While there are some use cases where access to documents and/or content via Nuxeo's Web UI would be valuable, our user-base is best served by knowing as little as necessary to do their jobs. This means transparent API driven approaches using the existing UI they already work within. **What do you dislike about Hyland Nuxeo?** While Nuxeo remains a flexible and powerful platform from which we can manage a wide variety of electronic content, and its future is bright, the one drawback I have noted is that the process of custom development takes some getting used to. Native libraries for frameworks such as the Spring family of frameworks would go a long way to simplifying integration work. **Recommendations to others considering Hyland Nuxeo:** Nuxeo has a decent stand-up time. Its architecture is significantly more extensible and friendly from an integration standpoint than others we reviewed in our selection process. While Nuxeo's underlying platform is Open Source Software (OSS), and also built on predominantly OSS components allowing it to be used at minimal cost … we found that the Nuxeo Studio configuration engine rather significantly enhances the deliverability of Nuxeo based solutions. Finding that Nuxeo does almost as much as OpenText and other top tier competitors, and the rate of feature adds and expanded capabilities is proving to be very fast. 2) Documentation and training is very good (with a caveat, see below) -- there's digestible training for all levels 3) Nuxeo presents a very modern design. Modeling your new digital workplace is easy with the right tooling. Nuxeo delivers that without the burdens of its own previous designs (more on this below too) BONUS: Search option. Wow... I mean what a great opportunity to do real federated search. **What do you dislike about Hyland Nuxeo?** 1) There's a bit of a learning curve for tech teams. If you've been deep in your legacy apps, this one is new. Training content is available and the support folks are great, but some thing you just got to get your hands dirty with. Plan for a longer ramp up period if doing the heavy lifting in house. 2) The transition to Nuxeo has been a little harder to communicate to legacy stakeholders. The hardest part of any digital transformation is getting user/stakeholder and, frankly, most of our IT team to think beyond the paper-paradigm and the "it's a big database". Transition goes much easier with a good taxonomist, evangelizing the lifecycle management (the record is the asset, DAM'it!). **What problems is Hyland Nuxeo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Compliance, records, workflow. We prefer this over other available databases as the advance search option provided out of box, or we can say is an inbuilt feature of Nuxeo, are very robust and efficient. Here say if we have small amount of data to be dealt with, there we can easily use Nuxeo Studio. Also the major advantage of using this tool is that we can fire SQL like queries to fetch the data, which provides an ease to the user for data retrieval. **What do you dislike about Hyland Nuxeo?** The major thing which creates a problem for a user is the setting up of nuxeo studio on the machine. The setup is very complex and should be done with very precision. So it is expected that one should have proper training before setting up Nuxeo, or else debugging the problem for the failure of setup is very difficult. So for small medium size projects offer a limited version of studio because sometimes we do not utilize everything on nuxeo studio. **What problems is Hyland Nuxeo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Document, Case, Web Managements. The platform is extensible and provides a feature rich set of APIs for integration. **What do you dislike about Hyland Nuxeo?** The account management has been poor at best. The pricing model has been completely changed with no communication to the client. Our account rep left and we were never notified and introduced to our new account rep. This only happened because an invoice showed up that we were expected to pay and we reached out for information. There was no proactive communication about the change in account management or the pricing model changes. We are a platinum customer also. **What problems is Hyland Nuxeo solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are centralizing our digital assets and improving the workflow automation around our digital asset process. **Official Response from Grant Spradlin:** > Thank you for your feedback.
