# Which academic advising platforms keep student records intact when requisitions are reopened or reclassified?

Reviewers do note that an audit trail sometimes requires a third-party integration rather than being native, which is worth knowing before you rely on it for compliance.</li>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/ellucian-student/reviews"><strong>Ellucian Student</strong></a> is the broader Ellucian SIS platform and handles student records at scale. With 263 reviews, there's more signal here about how it holds up in complex institutional environments.</li>

&lt;p&gt;I’d also test what happens to downstream decisions tied to the old status. Preserving the history is one part, but a reclassification may affect eligibility, advisor assignments, requirements, or prior approvals. A strong record model should show both what changed and which dependent records were recalculated versus intentionally preserved.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The key thing for me would be preserving a clear history of every status change rather than just showing the latest record. If reclassification or reopening overwrites prior data, you lose the audit trail needed to understand what changed and why.&lt;/p&gt;

Plenty of systems will show you a student&#39;s classification today and still have no clean way to show what it was in March and who changed it, which is exactly what you need when a reopened application gets questioned months later. Achieve looks strong there, given how consistently reviewers describe notes and history travelling with the student across departments and advisors. Jenzabar One helps for a different reason, since a record can&#39;t drift out of sync with a second system that isn&#39;t in the picture.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
