Having used the bookkeeping features since 2020, I've seen the product evolve. It's regularly improving such that I'm hard pressed to think of anything I don't like about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that MonkeyPod is a one-stop shop for nonprofits, bringing fundraising and accounting together in one place. Fundraising and donations are pulled into accounting without me having to log them separately, and I don't have to pay for a separate fundraising database or CRM service. I also like its way of showcasing grants and that it includes a CRM. The direct integration with Gusto is really useful, and setup was really easy and simple. I love that MonkeyPod is easy to use and keeps everything together, allowing many people to access information as needed. I also appreciate how the MonkeyPod team took care of everything during the setup and walked us through the decision-making process required for the chart of accounts, email automation, and best practices. Some of the reports that our accountant would like to see are not supported in MonkeyPod. Specifically, being able to attach Statement of Activities information to individual accounts. MonkeyPod's team feels this is unnecessary, but the accountants still want to see it. We have found a workaround with MonkeyPod's tag system, but it does add more work and require more discipline than is ideal. Every single transaction is now tied to a bank account by using internal tags. This is working well in the accountants' eyes but requires significant discipline to keep accurate. We have other software such as ShelterLuv and WIX.com that are not connected to MonkeyPod, which requires manual movement of information between the systems. The accounting is strict to ensure that small nonprofits adhere to GAAP, but in some cases are so strict that an experienced bookkeeper has to jump through some hoops to make adjustments or corrections. I like that MonkeyPod has many different systems built into one - making it easy to do everything under one site instead of paying and utilizing multiple.
