What do you like best about Memberful?

Memberful has been a life saver for our small business. Prior to Memberful, we were selling subscription-based homeschool curriculum through another platform and had a less-than-desirable experience. At the end of the day, running a business like this requires a lot of troubleshooting, and I understand hiccups will come up that must be navigated. However, the old platform simply did not provide the support necessary to equip us to run things smoothly. Enter: Memberful. From the very beginning, without any commitment yet on my part, they helped me feel so confident in my decision to move platforms. They response time was (and continues to be) lightnning fast, their interactions are warm and personable, and you can tell that they care. PLUS, they are so thorough! Every question I had already had a linked article dedicated to answering it. I am so grateful for the role that Memberful has played in helping elevate my business to the next level. What do you dislike about Memberful?

What do you like best about Memberful?

Memberful offers everything needed to start collecting subscribers: payments handling with accurate taxes, refunds, activity logs, income dashboard.

It's integration with Wordpress is a breeze. Having reviewed the code of the plugin they provide, it is just as simple and effective as it can be. It offload the membership registration, management and payment from your Wordpress code base, letting you focus on what matter the most.

I had to get in touch with their customer service for a domain-related cookie issue, and they could provide a quick and good answer: I had the feeling that I was really in touch with someone that knew the service and its technical operation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Memberful?

Even though its functionalities are great, Memberful pricing is quite high: the platform takes an amount slightly higher than most other platforms.

What do you like best about Memberful?

We've been with Memberful for years, and it is the glue that holds our membership operation together. The service makes it easy for us to connect our own custom, self-hosted WordPress website with our third-party newsletter-sending service and even a self-hosted forum setup. It handles all of our member payments and renewals and gives us the tools we need to make this wacky operation work. The customer service and support is also consistently exceptional. What do you dislike about Memberful?

The service certainly isn't cheap. But, considering everything you get for what you're paying, it ultimately pays for itself. And I've not seen any other comparable option that's anywhere near as simple, polished, and user-friendly — particularly for anyone with a self-hosted setup like ours, where connecting all the disparate pieces and bringing everything together into something cohesive and attractive is typically anything but easy. What do you like best about Memberful?

Memberful lets you build memberships on top of your own tech stack, so you can build your own WordPress site with subscriber-only content, create a members-only forum, integrate withi powerful newsletter tools such as Kit, and so on. It provides freedom and flexibility you won't get from the likes of Substack or even Patreon (which owns Memberful).

Customer support is also excellent—super responsive and it's always the same two or three folks that you'll likely get to know over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Memberful?

Increasingly Memberful's product development seems to be moving toward hosting your own content on Memberful itself. I disagree with this direction as it's not what I signed up for, and the resulting product is still far behind other site creation and newsletter tools. If I wanted something like Beehiiv or Substack, I would just use Beehiiv or Substack.

There's still plenty of room for improvement on the core membership side of things. Would love to see a way for members to provide guest passes for friends/family, targeted retention discounts based on survey results, the ability to pause a subscription, self-serve tools for group subscriptions, a rewards program for free referrals, a wider range of API hooks, etc etc. My concern is these things will be neglected as Memberful tries to turn itself into yet another Substack clone. Incredible customer service, always-evolving features, and an easy to use back-end. As a podcast company, they make serving subscriber-only audio a breeze. As time goes on, they also keep introducing features that make it easier to communicate with members vs. API-based strategies, which can be troublesome for small teams like mine. Memberful offers a simple and intuitive user interface, great options for building memberships, and the most amazing customer service I've experienced with an app like this. They really listen to my feature requests and have implemented new options based on my suggestions, which is so appreciated. It is very easy to set up and use, and my clients tend to find it easy to use. It integrates well with my email list too. What do you dislike about Memberful?

Sometimes clients can find it difficult to navigate the back end of their membership on their own, but usually I can help direct them easily to the info they need. I would also love to see features like creating a consistent date to charge folks or scheduling the start of a membership in advance, but overall it's a great product.
