"A Financial Vampire: How Magento Repeatedly Nearly Bankrupted Our Small Business"
What do you like best about Magento Open Source?

The thing I like best about Magento Open Source is that we are finally moving away from it. The absolute highlight of our entire experience with this platform is the upcoming date when we officially migrate to Shopify. Knowing that we will never have to deal with Magento or Adobe Commerce ever again is the only positive feeling I have regarding the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?

I dislike almost everything. It is a catastrophic drain on resources, acting like a blood-thirsty vampire that has nearly killed our business several times. We have been trapped in a cycle of never-ending technical problems and unreliable "security patches" that are both mandatory and ridiculously expensive.

These updates frequently break existing functionality, creating a "quicksand" effect where you are constantly paying developers to fix things that shouldn't have broken in the first place. The architecture is needlessly complex, seemingly designed to maximize billable hours for agencies rather than providing a stable environment for a merchant. "Magento2 : To choose or not for your e-commerce."
What do you like best about Magento Open Source?

Magento is a great tool to quickly set up your e-commerce online as the base for any e-commerce is already built.

It allows extending the frontend of your website according to your design needs with ease.

It allows easy integration of must-have e-commerce functionalities like Google reviews, customer rewards, Bulk price request, Affiliate marketing through third-party modules.

Best part is, we can also extend and customize the functionality of these third-party modules according to our requirement.

It gives great user experience for the admin side for your e-commerce.

Overall, it is a good open source tool to develop and maintain e-commerce with minimum developer requirement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?

From the point of view of performance, it is not as good to choose Magento, because many other frameworks are developed which are somewhat more optimised and performance friendly than Magento.

Magento2 is not good to choose, if someone is a fresher in development, as all the basic building code is already there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best Customize CMS for Ecommerce"
What do you like best about Magento Open Source?

I appreciate how Magento allows us to implement custom coding and the specific functionalities we need to incorporate, especially for an eCommerce website. The interface is easy to use and user-friendly. It has very good number of features we can integrate on our website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?

I don't like Magento because the maintenance costs are too high. Additionally, even for basic functionality or simple code changes, I need a developer's assistance. When it's time to upgrade the site, the website has to be put under maintenance, which is inconvenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Magento Open Source: Full Control for Developers Building Bespoke Stores"

Its unparalleled flexibility and customization capabilities.

Here's why:

Ultimate Customization and Control: Unlike many SaaS (Software as a Service) e-commerce platforms, Magento Open Source provides complete control over every aspect of our store. we have full access to the source code, allowing for deep modifications to fit highly specific business requirements, workflows, and unique customer experiences that simply aren't possible with more restrictive platforms. This is critical for businesses with complex catalogs, unique selling propositions, or intricate backend integrations.

Exceptional Scalability: Magento Open Source is built to scale. It can handle massive product catalogs, high traffic volumes, and significant transaction loads. This makes it an ideal choice for businesses that anticipate rapid growth or are already operating at an enterprise level. we're not likely to hit a performance ceiling with Magento, provided it's properly implemented and maintained.

Vast Extension Marketplace and Developer Ecosystem: The open-source nature fosters a massive global community of developers and a rich marketplace of extensions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
