I have been using iClone for more than 5 years now, its so wonderful to make animation. , the best thing is it has its own pipeline, like using CC4 with iClone. That actually helps it to be better. **What do you dislike about iClone?** A little expensive product definitely, as every single addon or thing in the pipeline is sold seperately. Runs very well on an 'average' computer, whereas animations apps typically require gaming-type-computers or high-end devices to adequately run the software. Huge libraries of animations; cool interface; but the greatest asset or tool of all is the Character Creator software which easily allows a user to generate a limitless number of standard or 'wild' avatars or characters. A great way to let the imagination explode ... Cameras and the interface to quickly edit a vid is awesome! And all of this and a very modest price. Interfaces well with other animation apps. (Professional support is extremely good, being fast and very helpful with accurate replies or workarounds.) Over the years the interface has vastly improved. Whereas the product may not be as well known as some of the other 'big names' it is a hidden super-tool with considerable opportunities for speedy production of many, many different types of projects. I find increasingly that I am using iClone with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator; they synch well together, though it is obvious that many users haven't recognised all those likely benefits. Overall it is quite a tool to stimulate creativity, and (relatively) easy to use. Like all graphics apps, takes a lot of practise. **What do you dislike about iClone?** The Human IK is a bit too basic and too often gives faults for non-standard characters. There are possibilities to edit one's way around the faults, but it becomes time consuming. The clothing conform can also be a bit frustrating for non-standard figures - which shouldn't be because iClone Character Creator just begs for wild creativity. **What problems is iClone solving and how is that benefiting you?** There are a number of decent animation apps on the market, but I preferred iClone because the entry level costs are not great, and you can buy add-ons in line with the skill-sets acquired over a period of time. It's easy to use, and the program is way more straight forward than any other 3d animation software that I've tried to use. **What do you dislike about iClone?** I wish that it was more universally compatible with more operating systems and computers. I'm not able to use it on my own personal laptop, only my work computer because I don't have all of the proper system requirements on my pc laptop. **Recommendations to others considering iClone:** It's a really good program. You can just jump in and start animating. Rendering is fast and efficient. **What do you dislike about iClone?** The import process for character creator could be a lot better. **What problems is iClone solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ability to rapidly blend prebuilt animations has become absolutely essential in our preproduction phase. Iclone gives us the ability to turn out a motion storyboard in a matter of hours and iterate on it until the client is happy. ### 11. Best in Class Model Designing **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Stephen L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2018 **What do you like best about iClone?** Iclone uses GPU rendering when most of the other 3d rendering engines use traditional CPU renders which are slower. there are few features in iclone which makes it best in the world with designing. first of the build in animations makes it very easy to animate your character like walking, speaking and running. another option is the motion capture, you can work with motion captures to animate your created character it opens up a lot of possibilities. for designing the character import feature is stunning, you can easily import files from other software or from build-in the library and even there is a marketplace for you to buy them. there are several specialised models too like hair, shoes, dress and all to customize the character in ways you can dream. the rendering engine is really good and it uses PBR so the quality of output is exceptional. there are also tons of other addons and inbuild elements such as textures to match the scene that you want to create. the software is also good for creating entire scene from base. the lighting options are another tool in iclone which is much better than its competitors, with which you gets great control over foreground and background lighting. **What do you dislike about iClone?** the software is not cheap with a market price of $400, you always have a free trial to test out the product. the software needs atleast GTX 700 series card so that is costly. **Recommendations to others considering iClone:** iclone is a great software if youre interested in 3d modelling. anyways the software isn't cheap so you have to check your budget before going for it. **What problems is iClone solving and how is that benefiting you?** iclone is a 3d modelling and rendering software and one of the best in its field. the rendering engine is really fast. ### 12. Poor Rendering **Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Ryan T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2018 **What do you like best about iClone?** This is one of the best platforms to design 3d characters, there are tons of tools available for you get the perfect design, the control you get with them is actually better than other software in this class. there are also many elements are available on the web as character creator format which can be directly imported into the software for editing. you can also import 3D models from other designing software such as Autodesk Maya and 3DS Max. multi-window editing is really cool and get you multiple perspectives about the model and makes it easy to create your character. the animation is another great feature in this tool you can easily draw paths and animate the character through that path which is much easier than conventional keyframe animator. there is also keyframe animation options if you prefer old school. the interface of the software is great especially the timeline, you can easily edit individual parts of the model without much trouble. **What do you dislike about iClone?** the software needs a lot of memory to work fluently. the rendering options in this tool are not at all good comparatively. **Recommendations to others considering iClone:** When you consider character modelling this software stands at the top with other elite software but i don't think this is the best option for the overall design. this software is packed with tons of features so make sure you check it out. **What problems is iClone solving and how is that benefiting you?** iclone is a 3D editing, animating and rendering software for pc. this is one of the best software to use for character creation whether you work for movie VFX or gaming or whatever it is. the animation options are also great and give you great control over the parts to get the smooth movement. ### 13. iClone 7 Great For Personal Or Business Use **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Dominique G. | Digital Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2017 **What do you like best about iClone?** I really like the fact that making animations is no longer needed by a team of animators. Now, anyone with a computer can do it on their own. I also enjoy 3DXchange where I can tale characters or elements of a scene and import them into iClone from a different format. This has been extremely helpful and allowed us to reuse older characters. **What do you dislike about iClone?** I like that iClone 7 comes with a character creator. However, I feel there are not enough clothes. In addition, I also feel the character creator should allow you to make custom clothing. Older versions of iClone allowed users to make a 3d character from a 2d photo. This can still be done however you are required to use another Reallusion software called Crazytalk 8. I was not a fan of this because Crazytalk 8 is not a free program. I feel this is a feature that iClone and the dedicated character creator should already have without relying on another program. **Recommendations to others considering iClone:** If you look at the grand scheme of things, it is well worth the money. Look at our situation, we spent thousands on animations for our marketing efforts. Once we purchased iClone 7, we had 2 people learn the program and master it. Once they did, we never spent another dime on outsourcing animations. Having said that, we were also able to put out more animations with a quick turnaround. **What problems is iClone solving and how is that benefiting you?** iClone allows my company the ability to make professional 3D animations for marketing or social media. Before we acquired iClone, we would have to outsource animations that were always very costly.
