What do you like best about Aleph?
Dashboards are where Aleph really shines for me. I manage our finance dashboards for financial statements and headcount, and I built a side-by-side comparisons of our different forecasts and plans. The differences show up right on the page, so I can spot what changed without digging through spreadsheets. Even with multiple pages and large data sets, everything loads quickly, so I’m not stuck waiting during month-end.
The Aleph bot has been a great addition too. It gives insightful answers, and our leaders can ask it questions directly instead of waiting on finance to pull the numbers. They get what they need quickly, and my team spends less time on one-off requests and more time on actual analysis.
Aleph has also become our go-to tool for cleaning up messy data. I use it to standardize vendor names, approvers and payment types, and the Excel integration makes it easy to update hundreds of entries at once instead of one by one. I also use it to tidy up our headcount data and confirm each month’s staff updates came through correctly. Before and after any big cleanup, I can quickly check our key numbers to make sure nothing broke, which gives me confidence in what we report.
Aleph has more than paid for itself. The data cleaning work alone, standardizing records across thousands of entries, would have taken countless manual hours. Add in access to so many data integrations in one place, and we’re getting far more value than we’re paying for.
When I have a question, I start with the Aleph bot, which usually gets me an answer right away. If it can’t, I reach out to the support team, who have been responsive and helpful. Between the two, I’m rarely stuck for long, and getting up to speed was straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Aleph?
Honestly, there isn’t much I dislike. When something doesn’t work the way I need, I feel comfortable submitting a feature request, and the team is open to feedback. A few things I’d love to see improved:
A geographical map to help visualize location based items (personnel locations, customer locations, etc)
Tables using "Format as Financials" can get long when accounts and sub-accounts are both shown: Both levels are often needed, but not always visible at the same time. An accordion-style collapse/expand control on these tables, scoped only to the rows/columns already defined in the block (distinct from the existing Drill Down feature, which pulls in underlying transaction-level data rather than toggling visibility of defined hierarchy levels). Is there a way to let users collapse/expand account groups (e.g., hide sub-accounts under a parent account) within a Financial Statement table, without needing to drill down into transactional detail.
When exporting a block to PDF or connecting it to PowerPoint, tables that exceed a certain length don't pull in fully. Instead, the connection shows a note like "view full table in Aleph." We understand size limits exist for performance reasons, but this means a full P&L can't be exported or connected in its entirety, which limits how far we can take this feature for our board reporting needs. Is there a way to raise (or provide a way to configure) the row limit for PDF export and PowerPoint connections so full-length financial statements like a complete P&L can be pulled?
Dashboard Block Comments: Comments on dashboard blocks anchor to whatever filtered value was showing when they were written, with no record of which filters were active. If someone later views the block with different filters (or unfiltered), the comment appears against a different number with no way to tell the context it was made in. Is there a way to show the filter state (or value) active at the time a comment was created, so it's clear what the comment refers to regardless of the viewer's current filters.
A way to clear the trigger automations. I created one without realizing what the feature actually does. Now, we have a trigger that cant be deleted.
Our dashboard users view dashboards on a range of monitor sizes. On smaller screens, the amounts in table block columns are clipped or hard to read. As far as I can tell, column widths on table blocks can't be adjusted, so the only workarounds are widening the block, changing number formats or removing columns. Request: Let dashboard editors/viewers set column widths on table blocks. Ideally this would include: A manual width per column, An auto-fit option that sizes columns to their content, and/or Widths that hold up across screen sizes Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
