Best workforce software for productivity tracking

Hey G2 community, I’m curious. What do you think is the best workforce software for tracking productivity across teams? I’m trying to build a quality list based on first-hand experience. If you’ve used any of these tools or have others you’d recommend, drop your thoughts below. I’d especially love input from anyone using ActivTrak, Hubstaff, or Time Doctor in a hybrid or remote work environment.

  • ActivTrak: ActivTrak is a workforce analytics platform that helps teams understand how time is spent across applications and tasks. It offers dashboards for focus time, productivity trends, and workload balance. Managers can use real-time activity tracking, goal benchmarks, and alerts to identify burnout risks or performance issues—without invasive monitoring.
  • Hubstaff: Hubstaff offers time tracking with screenshots, app usage, and productivity metrics. It’s ideal for remote or field teams who want visibility into hours worked and tasks completed. Hubstaff also includes GPS tracking, project budgeting, and activity level scores, making it a strong all-in-one tool for productivity and accountability.
  • Time Doctor: Time Doctor provides in-depth productivity insights by tracking time spent on websites, applications, and tasks. It includes distraction alerts, project tracking, and customizable reports. Time Doctor supports integrations with tools like Asana, Trello, and Slack, making it a seamless fit for teams already using project management tools.
  • Teramind: Teramind offers advanced monitoring and behavior analytics for workforce productivity and security. It captures keystrokes, sessions, and app usage, helping organizations detect inefficiencies or insider threats. While robust, it also allows for customizable privacy settings to ensure compliance and transparency.
  • Insightful (formerly Workpuls): Insightful focuses on helping businesses understand productivity at both individual and team levels. It tracks time, app usage, and idle time, with auto-generated reports that visualize trends over time. It’s especially useful for scaling companies looking to optimize workflows and resource allocation.

What do you think of these suggestions? If you've used them or have other productivity tracking platforms that worked well for your team, let me know!

There are lots of productivity monitoring tools, such as Intergurd, Apploye, and Desktime, that you can add to your list. I am personally using Apploye. It does not complicate tracking productivity with vanity metrics, such as activity score percentage. And its dashboard is more effective for comparing the productivity of the employees. I did not personally use the tools you mentioned. So, I can not give you insights about them.
