**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Gem?**

Easy to find candidates, get their email addresses, and start outreach quickly. Automated follow-ups save a lot of time, while the CRM makes it easy to keep track of candidates and previous communication. The sourcing and AI features are also helpful when working on multiple roles at the same time. The interface is straightforward, and the integrations with ATS and other recruiting tools make the overall workflow much smoother.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

The pricing can feel a little high for smaller recruiting teams, especially with heavy use of email/contact credits. Some of the advanced features take a bit of time to learn, and the initial setup and integrations can require some configuration. Candidate information and AI suggestions still need to be reviewed before reaching out.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves a lot of time when sourcing candidates and finding their contact details. It also makes it easier to manage multiple openings, keep up with outreach, and focus more on connecting with qualified candidates instead of doing everything manually.

  ### 2. Product Potential - Implementation and Customer Success Fell Short

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony S. | Qualitative Research Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through LinkedIn

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Gem?**

Gem has strong potential as a recruiting CRM and sourcing platform. The interface is intuitive, and the automation capabilities are promising. Unfortunately, we have not been able to realize that value because the implementation and customer success experience fell well short of what was promised during our renewal process.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

We renewed our subscription after being assured we would receive a fresh implementation experience and dedicated Customer Success support. Instead, multiple requests for assistance went unanswered beyond automated responses, and ownership of our account was lacking. When we raised concerns, we were redirected to generic support resources rather than receiving the partnership that was promised. As a growing organization, we value vendors that follow through on their commitments. The product has potential, but the gap between the sales experience and post-sale support makes it difficult to recommend at this time.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We purchased Gem expecting an AI-enabled recruiting platform, but our experience has been that it's largely a CRM with light automation. The AI capabilities have not been compelling or materially improved our recruiting process. Without the implementation and partnership we were promised, the platform has provided little measurable value to our organization.

**Official Response from Henry Ngo:**

> Hi Anthony, thank you for your feedback.

We appreciate you holding us to a high standard regarding the post-renewal onboarding experience.

I see that you've recently been connected with the right leadership team here at Gem, and we are going to fix it. We are actively mapping out a plan to close the support gaps you mentioned and ensure your team has the dedicated partnership they deserve.

Thank you for working with us to make this right!

**What do you like best about Gem?**

Gem was mostly used by me during the recruiting process, where centralizing candidate sourcing activities, tracking communication, and organizing pipelines were the key concerns. My daily routine mostly consisted of analyzing the candidates' profile, following the sequence of outreach activities, and tracking follow-ups within my various hiring pipelines.

One of the operational conveniences of using Gem was getting the ability to see all of my candidates' communications history and their stage within outreach without having to track those manually through email chains and spreadsheets. While on hiring streaks, I would constantly check response activities, recruitment notes, and candidate pipeline stages to organize my follow-ups and prevent duplicate communications.

Additionally, I used Gem while coordinating sourcing activity on multiple hiring campaigns concurrently.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

The platform also requires some time to be configured appropriately, depending on the recruiting process flows in place. Initially, I needed to take more time understanding the interactions between sequence, candidate status, and integration since any slight variation in processes could impact reporting and candidate management.

Another problem associated with using the platform is ensuring that the pipeline data remains clean when several recruiters make changes at the same time. In the absence of proper workflow management, duplicating candidates or even out-of-date statuses may occur.

There are also some complex workflows for reporting and filtering that come with large recruiting pipelines.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to implementing Gem, candidate outreach and tracking was done manually through spreadsheets and separate email and recruitment communication processes, making it more difficult to coordinate pipeline management during times of active recruitment.

However, with Gem, the process of sourcing, candidate outreach, and interaction became much more coordinated and streamlined, allowing for better visibility into recruiter activity, minimized manual efforts, and more structured recruitment process management.

  ### 4. Powerful All-in-One Recruiting Platform, but Workflow Customization Can Feel Limiting

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arkajit D. | Chief Technology Officer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**G2 Icon:** Our network of Icons are G2 members who are recognized for their outstanding contributions and commitment to helping others through their expertise.

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Gem?**

One of my favorite things about Gem is the extent to which it consolidates sourcing, candidate management, recruiting analytics, and workflow automation, all in one system without adding unnecessary complexity to the recruiting process.

Gem makes recruiting easier and more efficient, especially in a rapidly growing organization, where hiring efficiency and the candidate experience have a direct influence on the company's ability to grow quickly. In my opinion, the main benefit of Gem is its visibility into the whole talent pipeline. By having one place to see and organize your sourcing efforts, engagement performance, pipeline health, and recruiting metrics, you eliminate the need to use multiple tools and manual methods.

As for the user interface, Gem is both intuitive and convenient for recruiters. Its workflow allows easily tracking candidates, sending out outreach campaigns, and coordinating efforts among various recruitment teams without creating additional administrative workload.

Integrations with other platforms is another significant advantage of Gem. As far as I am concerned, the platform integrates seamlessly with ATS platforms, LinkedIn, email sequences, calendar systems, and recruiting operations management systems, therefore minimizing duplicate administrative actions and ensuring higher consistency and visibility of recruiting metrics.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

The thing that I dislike about Gem is that even though the platform is quite powerful in terms of workflow management related to recruitment, there can be some limitations when it comes to the growing complexity and specificity of hiring processes.

For example, I sometimes found myself limited by how easily Gem allows you to customize its workflows and generate detailed reports about the performance of your recruiting process. The system has pretty powerful analytics tools in general, but when you work in a large recruiting environment, having highly specific KPIs for your recruiting process or complex reporting processes, it might be quite limiting.

In terms of UI/UX design, the platform is fairly easy to use in general, yet when it comes to large-scale campaigns and sourcing processes, there can be moments when it feels cluttered to navigate through all this information.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

However, one of the areas Gem has enabled me to resolve effectively is organizing sourcing efforts, candidate engagements, and hiring flows as we increased the recruitment pace and hiring volume for engineers, product designers, operations staff, and clinical roles within our healthtech company.

Without Gem, our recruiting operations used to be very disjointed. Recruiters would manually engage candidates via LinkedIn outreach, keep track of them in Excel or Google Sheets, send emails back and forth and make manual adjustments to our ATS to move candidates through the funnel. This proved particularly challenging as we increased our hiring demands, and recruiters needed to identify suitable candidates for complex technical and healthcare jobs.

For me, one of the most valuable changes that has come from using Gem has been the ability to organize candidate pipelines and improve recruiter productivity. The platform allowed us to consolidate all sourcing campaigns, outreach processes, candidate tracking, and analytics in one place. Thus, there was no need for recruiters to manually keep track of communication and engagement metrics anymore.

  ### 5. A Powerful Platform for Streamlining Recruitment.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Gem?**

I like best about Gem is its intuitive interface and how it brings sourcing, candidate engagement, and recruiting workflows into one place. The automation features save time on repetitive tasks, the analytics provide useful insights, and the integrations with ATS and other recruiting tools make it easy to keep everything organized and efficient.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

One area where Gem could improve is performance with larger candidate lists, as some pages can occasionally feel slow to load. There is also a learning curve when exploring more advanced features, and having more customization options for reporting and workflows would make the platform even more flexible.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gem helps streamline the recruiting process by centralizing candidate sourcing, outreach, and pipeline management in one platform. It reduces manual work, keeps candidate information organized, and makes it easier to track interactions throughout the hiring process. As a result, I save time, collaborate more effectively with my team, and can focus more on engaging with qualified candidates instead of administrative tasks.

Setting it up was straightforward, and it felt relatable to other ATS software with a decent UI/UX aspect.

Gem is only as good as the ATS that it sits on top of, so sometimes the data isn't always correct if the ATS isn't correct - and you can't update the data in Gem, you have to update it in the ATS. I would like if data could be updated in Gem directly.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gem helps create dynamic visuals of pipeline data and recruiter productivity.

**What do you like best about Gem?**

I find the sourcing capability of Gem to be really impressive. It automates sourcing and simplifies identifying candidates that match our criteria, which helps us connect with candidates efficiently. This feature saves us a lot of time because instead of doing it manually, we can do it on a large scale. It helps us identify top talent quickly so we don't lose them to competitors. Also, setting up Gem was super easy, which was very impressive as I've worked with many other tools that are complicated and time-consuming to implement.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

We have not had it long, and nothing stands out for us. It’s such an upgrade from nothing.

**What do you like best about Gem?**

I've been using Gem for about 8 months now, mostly for sourcing engineering and technical roles for our automotive clients. The talent rediscovery feature is useful in my opinion.
The upsides are, like scheduling is made easy, the AI ranking actually works, the chrome extension is useful. he learning of this tool took time but it was worth it.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

Lime I said the learning was little difficult and occasionally there are sync issues with our ATS and it is a tad bit costly.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gem saves me from digging through tons of emails and LinkedIn messages just to find one conversation. Everything is in one place now. I'm not losing great candidates anymore since Gem reminds me about people I talked to months ago. Honestly, it just makes my job less chaotic and helps me actually hire people faster

  ### 22. Gem ATS Is Too Early-Stage: Missing Core Recruiting Features and Reporting

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Gem?**

(This is all related to Gem ATS only, not their CRM tool).
They have an option for AI-powered resume review which helps identify best-matched candidates (although it's only as good as your own prompts).
Candidate profile view is good, you can easily see which other roles the candidate has applied for and what stage they are in etc.
Overall implementation was relatively easy but could also be because the features are lacking so you don't have to do much to get it up and running.

I am sincerely hoping that I see a lot of the improvements they promise in the next few months in which case I am happy to edit the review.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

Gem's ATS feature is as of 01/2026 still very-very early stage and they are missing several critical features that a typical in-house recruiting team needs. This is very disappointing given they charge the same as much more mature products. They have clearly built this very quickly without thinking about how various members of the hiring team across different companies might be using the product.

For example, there is no candidate survey right now;
As a hiring manager, you can review profiles but 1. in order to get to that view, you have to navigate through the recruiter view which is not intuitive at all and 2. you have to type in your feedback for each profile reviewed, there is no easy "Pass/Fail" scorecard;
Notifications are severely lacking (about candidates moving into different stages, for example) and still being built;
You cannot just enter offer information without having an offer template in place as Gem assumes you would be generating and sending out the offers through Gem.
Even if you do enter offer information, the actual reporting is lackluster -- you cannot download basic information about the offers made such as salary (!).
It forces you to send no-reply emails via Gem's own gem.com email, you cannot set up a company domain which is again just a sign of product immaturity.

Overall, the dashboard, help articles and reporting are all still heavily centered around the CRM, the ATS is an afterthought.

For a lot of it they now say it's "in the works" but this was fully misrepresented at the time of decision-making.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This review is specifically for the Gem ATS and not for their CRM tool.

Overall, it saves me time and lets me manage hiring activities in one place without things slipping through the cracks.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

Sometimes Gem can feel slow when it’s handling large amounts of candidate data, and a few features take some time for new users to learn. I also think certain integrations and reporting options could be more flexible, as well as more user-friendly overall.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gem helps solve problems related to candidate sourcing, follow ups, and recruitment tracking. It keeps all hiring activities organized in one place, which saves time, improves communication with candidates, and makes the overall recruitment process more efficient.

**What do you like best about Gem?**

I use Gem for recruitment purposes, and it helps me to understand niche skills. I really like its UI, which is particularly valuable for sourcing and tracking visibility. The initial setup of Gem was very easy for me.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gem for recruitment to understand niche skills, and its UI is great for sourcing and tracking visibility.

**What do you like best about Gem?**

I like the visibility that Gem gives you into what is and what is not working. As a recruiter I am in-mailing candidates and setting them up in email sequences which helps me provide consistent follow up on candidates who may rarely check Linkedin. They also do a great job of finding emails, as well as tracking and giving a real look into the data behind your in-mailing metrics. I use this daily in my current role and have recommended it to my old company.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

I dislike how Gem adds a few extra layers into the in-mailing process. To be able to accurately track my activity I need to save candidates to a project in Linkedin, save them to a CSV, upload to a project in Gem, message them in Linkedin, log the outreach, and then add to a sequence. I wish it had a way to better integrate the chrome extension with less clicks.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gem provides valuable insight into the data around messaging activity, as recruiters looking to fill roles with passive candidates in a short amount of time while also finding top talent data is everything.

  ### 46. Streamlined platform that simplifies recruiting workflows

**What do you like best about Gem?**

Gem stands out for its ability to bring together outreach, tracking, and pipeline management into one seamless platform. The interface is intuitive, making it easy to use even for someone new to recruiting tools. I particularly appreciate the analytics and reporting features — they give clear visibility into outreach performance and help identify what’s working and what needs adjustment. The integrations with LinkedIn and email are smooth and save a lot of manual work. Overall, Gem reduces time spent on repetitive tasks and makes candidate engagement more structured and data-driven.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

While Gem has been very helpful overall, there are areas where it could improve. The reporting dashboards, while detailed, can feel overwhelming at times and require some trial and error to fully utilize. Customization options for email templates are somewhat limited, and expanding them would allow for even more personalized outreach. Additionally, the mobile experience is not as strong as the desktop platform, which can make it harder to stay productive on the go. Finally, the pricing may be a bit high for smaller teams, which could limit accessibility for organizations that would benefit from the tool.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gem has helped streamline the recruiting process by centralizing outreach, tracking, and candidate relationship management into one platform. It reduces the manual effort involved in sending and monitoring candidate emails, freeing up more time to focus on meaningful conversations. The analytics tools make it easy to track pipeline progress, measure team efficiency, and identify areas where diversity recruiting can be improved. Integrations with LinkedIn and email systems also eliminate duplicate work, helping maintain accuracy and consistency across candidate interactions. As a result, our recruiting process has become faster, more transparent, and more data-driven.

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Gem?**

Gem nails the balance between power and simplicity — it’s intuitive enough to use daily without a steep learning curve, yet feature-rich enough to cover everything from sourcing to analytics. Implementation was smooth, integrations clicked into place without drama, and their support team actually feels like an extension of my recruiting desk.

**What do you dislike about Gem?**

While Gem streamlines sourcing beautifully, it can feel a bit boxed in when it comes to customization and integrations. Some features are incredibly powerful but lack the flexibility to adapt perfectly to unique workflows, which can slow things down when you’re aiming for a truly tailored recruiting process.

**What problems is Gem solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gem bridges the gap between sourcing and relationship-building. It keeps all candidate touchpoints, follow-ups, and pipeline data in one place, so I’m not juggling spreadsheets, email chains, and tracking tools.
