Embrace Reviews & Product Details

Very few businesses value customer service like Embrace. Their responsiveness to districts' needs is amazing. We purchase their IEP, 504, MTSS, and Medicaid programs. Each program is simple to use, is supported equally by its customer support and integrates seamlessly with other educational software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I can honestly say, the only thing I dislike about embrace is that it is not supported financially by our state board of education. ISBE gave millions of dollars to private contractors to develop an IEP system that no one in the state uses. I am not sure why ISBE and Embrace were unable to work toward a common solution. I can't say this is the fault of embrace, but they have not come forward and discussed why ISBE would not contract with them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like many things with Embrace IEP. I like how PowerIEP shows clearly when the student's next 3-year evaluation is due. On Easy IEP, it did not show this. I also like how it is easy to add and take away forms when writing the IEP. I also like the drop-down options for the educational placement section. On the minute's page, it is extraordinary how the special education minutes are automatically totaled for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don't particularly appreciate how more than one person can't be on the same page simultaneously. We often work on the IEP together, and one of us can't get into the page. We are an educational team and usually collaborate on all of our students, which hinders our collaboration. If the program doesn't let us be on the same page simultaneously, I wish there was an option to approve another teacher to join the page with you. Many of the data fields are organized and labeled as expected. It's easy to click and scroll between sections in the same document. Word, name and phase prediction based on previous use is very helpful when accurate. As a school psychologist who writes 10-20 page reports, the evaluation report format prompting input in very short sections, or evaluation components, makes writing the report less daunting, and suggests logical starting/stopping points as you are working through a report (great for those of us prone to hyperfocus or have a hard time stopping 'in the middle' of something). Where do I start?

Full disclosure: I am here reviewing Embrace fresh from an 'incident' that is going to cost me a good hour of my life. I was finalizing the longest section of a report, which described and analyzed a particular student's performance in a subject area. Somehow, I accidentally deleted the ENTIRE SECTION. I have no idea which unfortunate sequence of keys I inadvertently struck to cause such an unwelcome event, but do you think Embrace could have asked: 'Are you sure you want to delete this section?', considering the fact that there is NO UNDO button. You read that correctly. In Embrace, you are expected to be perfect. You may not make mistakes, big, little or otherwise, or you will pay. With your time, with your energy, with your heart; with your tears. You may not click UNDO. There is no UNDO in Embrace.

This is not by any stretch the only issue with Embrace, not by a long shot- but it's all I have in me after what I have just been through. My intent is that you directors of special education, of technology, or whomever else might be considering purchasing Embrace right now, might give pause. Perhaps you could dangle your not-yet-signed contract to the Embrace powers that be, demanding that the above described and other Embrace idiocies might be fixed before you strike your deal. Your district psychologists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and IEP writers will thank you, from the bottoms of their collective hearts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Really, not too much. The only thing is that you have to down load the file if you want to see the whole IEP in it's entirely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

You can easily write iep goal and track the student's progress right on the site. I work for a private schools but we serve the public schools. Therefore, it is critical that we maintain good communication on their student's goal progress. This makes the process much easier that tracking goal on our our forms, printing them, and then mailing them out,as the districts have access on embrace. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

You used (when it was PowerIEP)to be able to upload additional data related to a students present level of preformance right on the present level page. This made for a good presentation on the printed IEP. Now you have to upload it under additional documents and it prints out at the bottom. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The thing I like most is the copy button for IEPs so you are not typing the same thing over again. For billing, being able to drag down previously entered information is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I do not like the automatic saves without a history or undo button. It would be beneficial to be able to see previous versions as sometimes people make mistakes and they are already saved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The features are easy to navigate and I really like that when setting up a new iep you have the ability to add only the pages that you need Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I would like it if there was a “next” button that would allow you to move forward to the next document instead of the drop down that would list everything out. Sometimes working on several ieps you forget where you are Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
