What is Dropbox, and what problem is it built to solve?

Dropbox is a smart workspace for people and teams, intended to help them focus on the work that matters.

What languages does Dropbox support?

Dropbox supports 20 languages, including Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Dropbox the best fit for?

The clearest fit signal is among small businesses, with positive reviewers also represented in mid-market and enterprise organizations. Reviewer industries span several areas, including software, information technology, education, healthcare, and financial services.
  • Small businesses: The most prominent company-size segment in positive reviewer feedback.
  • Mid-market organizations: Also represented across a range of industries.
  • Enterprise organizations: Positive users include larger organizations as well.
  • Industries: Computer software and information technology are recurring, alongside education, healthcare, and financial services.

What customer support options does Dropbox provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Dropbox offers chat and phone support, along with FAQs and forum resources; live-rep support is available 24/7. The support experience is mixed: users describe timely, helpful assistance and successful issue resolution, while others find it difficult to reach a person or get help when account access is a problem.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Dropbox from another tool?

The move from other cloud-storage and office-suite options, including Google Drive or Workspace and OneDrive, is described as a shift toward easier file sharing and more dependable syncing. Dropbox’s straightforward workflow, cross-device access, and handling of large files are cited as practical improvements; transitions from other collaboration or file-sharing tools are also described as simpler to manage.

What tools and platforms does Dropbox integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Dropbox offers 222 integrations. Users connect it with office and productivity tools, communication platforms, and creative or workflow applications:
  • Office and productivity: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Office.
  • Communication: Slack and Zoom.
  • Creative and workflow tools: Adobe, Canva, Quickbase, Scrivener, and Marq.
In daily use, these connections help teams work with files alongside the tools they already use, share materials, and keep collaborative workflows moving without as much app-switching.

What features or capabilities could make Dropbox even more useful?

Dropbox could be more useful with improvements to storage flexibility, finding and organizing files, and managing collaboration. Recurring requests include:
  • Offer more affordable storage and more flexible plan steps for people whose needs fall between existing tiers.
  • Make search more effective for large libraries, with better filtering and ways to organize files across complex folders.
  • Improve large-file syncing with clearer progress and status information and more reliable handling of interrupted uploads.
  • Simplify shared-folder permissions and access controls so collaborators can understand and manage access more easily.

Is Dropbox considered safe and secure for handling data?

Dropbox users often value the sense of control they get from secure file sharing, access permissions, backups, and file recovery. At the same time, confidence is not uniform: concerns include how well sensitive information is protected, the lack of default zero-knowledge encryption, and the need to reassure clients about security. For sensitive-data use, buyers may want to assess whether Dropbox’s security controls meet their own requirements.

"Easy Setup, Feature-Rich, Minor Security Concerns"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I use Dropbox to store all my files and share them with my colleagues. It really helps me stay organized and happy, solving my B2B cloud services needs and assisting with work. I like the management utilities, and I find features like Dash, SmartSync, and the mobile scanner very useful. Dropbox Paper is great for writing notes, creating task lists, and assigning due dates while embedding media. I also appreciate that I can handle PDFs and Dropbox Sign, which is really helpful. The ease of setup is another standout, as it was very easy, possibly the easiest thing in the world. Additionally, I like the name a lot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

File recovery, offline access, and I'm worried about security. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Keeping my workflow together so I can focus on my actual work"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I really like Dropbox as it is very intuitive and it is very fast. I use it to quickly share files across my teammates. It's made sharing design files feel less stressful. I also use its note/doc feature as it is very simple and intuitive and don't have lots of noise. It is super reliable which is very helpful in my workflow. The support is actually there at a glance so if you have any problems, Dropbox is ready to have some customer support for you. I like when you can also view some of the file types like Adobe files inside of it so you don't have to download it to view the creative file. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

The amount of storage isn't too generous. I understand their business model is different from the competitors. I hope they give more features and more value for what you pay for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Dropbox Frees Up Local Space and Makes Sharing Huge Files Easy"
4/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

The best thing for me is that I don't have to worry about the local storage filling up, as Dropbox frees the space on my local drive. Being able to send huge files over email with just a link is also a big plus for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

I sometimes need to manually sort the file duplicates when multiple users work on the same file. Pricing is also slightly expensive, as competitors provide more features in the same range. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple, Stable, and Reliable File Sharing with Dropbox"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

Since my college days, Dropbox has been my go-to application to share files with my colleagues and family. Simple, intuitive, and very stable. The transfer quality is very good as well. Overall, it’s a reliable platform that makes file sharing and cloud storage effortless, both for personal and professional use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

One small downside of Dropbox is that the free storage space is a bit more limited compared to some competitors. However, the platform’s stability, ease of use, and reliable synchronization quality still make it a great option for file sharing and cloud storage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless File Sync and Team Collaboration Anywhere"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I can store and access my files anywhere, anytime. Dropbox also makes it easy to share files across teams when I’m working on a project with other team members. No matter which device I’m on, I can still get what I need, and the UI is straightforward and easy to navigate. I simply drop files into a folder, and Dropbox automatically syncs them so they’re available across all my systems. It’s also great for collaboration: I can share website logos, images, and other documents with my team, and everyone can access them, leave comments, and review everything in one place. If I accidentally delete something, I can restore it in Dropbox. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

Dropbox is really convenient and generally easy to use, but the free storage space is pretty limited compared to other cloud platforms, and the paid subscription feels a bit expensive. I’ve also found that when I need to upload larger files, the process can slow down, which can be annoying when I’m trying to finish something quickly. Also many features such as offline access feature and collaboration feature are limited to paid version only and managing duplicates shared folder sometimes become confusing. "Reliable cloud storage with smooth file collaboration"
5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

What I like most about Dropbox is how simple and reliable it is for storing and sharing files. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, and syncing across devices works smoothly, which makes it convenient to access my files from anywhere.

I also appreciate the collaboration features, such as shared folders, file links, and version history. Integrations with tools like Google Workspace and Microsoft Office help streamline workflows, especially when working with teams. Overall, it saves me time and keeps my files organized without requiring much effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

One thing I dislike about Dropbox is that the pricing can feel a bit expensive compared to some alternatives, especially for users who need larger storage plans. The amount of free storage is also somewhat limited, which makes it harder to rely on for long-term use.

I’ve also noticed that syncing can occasionally slow down when it’s handling very large folders or a lot of files at once. And while the interface is generally simple, some of the more advanced sharing and permission settings could be more intuitive and easier for new users to understand and manage. "Clean, User-Friendly File Sharing and Sync Across Devices"
4/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I like how Dropbox offers a clean, user-friendly experience that makes it easy to upload, organize, and access my files. The file-sharing feature is smooth and fast, and it lets me share large files without any hassle. It also syncs across multiple devices, so I can stay up to date wherever I am.

I feel confident that my important files are safe and easy to retrieve whenever I need them. I use Dropbox often to access my files. The customer support also good as it resolve query withing 24-72 hour. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

What I dislike about Dropbox is the limited storage compared to other cloud services, and the pricing plans feel expensive for individual users. Uploading files can also be slow at times, but my main concern is the 2GB free storage limit, and the upgrade plans are very costly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Collaboration, But Pricey"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

I really like how easy it is to share large files and folders via simple links with Dropbox. The seamless background syncing across all my devices is fantastic, and it makes file syncing a breeze. I also love the collaboration feature, as it allows me to work seamlessly with team members on shared documents. The initial setup was very straightforward and took only a few minutes; the desktop installer did all the work, requiring me to just download the app and sign in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

I find Dropbox's subscription pricing high and its storage limitations restrictive. The lack of default zero-knowledge encryption for data is concerning, and the desktop apps use a lot of resources. There are frequent conflicted copies, confusing Smart Sync indicators, and limited direct human support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Dropbox Smart Sync Makes File Storage Feel Effortless"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Dropbox?

The best thing about Dropbox is how it just stays out of the way it feels like a regular folder on my computer rather than a bulky app i have to manage. Its "Smart Sync" is a total lifesaver because it can see all my files without them actually taking up space on my hard drive until i click them. Plus, the version history is a huge safety net for me for "oh no" moments when i accidentally delete something or mess up a draft. It’s basically the most reliable way to keep everything synced across my phone and laptop without having to think about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dropbox?

The main frustration with Dropbox is that the free version is basically useless since it only gives us 2 GB, which fills up almost instantly. It’s also annoying that there’s no middle ground for pricing; once i run out of space, they force us to jump straight to a massive 2 TB plan that costs a decent amount every month. On top of that, the app has started feeling a bit bloated with extra features like screen recording and AI tools that most people didn't ask for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
