"Can't do my job without it"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

Hybrid space for all database things. A highly customizable tool that allows you to get productive in no time regardless of the RDBMS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

Not much to dislike! If I have to be super picky, I would say that it will be great if it initializes a little bit faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"DBVisualizer after 1 year"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

As a mac user, it had fewer interface issues than its leading competition. Although the other product was free, the improvements of the DBVisualizer in the Mac environment is enough to justify the costt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

While I do like the product, there are a few areas in which it could significantly improve:

1) the import table feature is pretty clunky and very picky. Things that could be handled programmatically like dealing with special characters or spaces in field names pulled from the source are a pain. Data type forcing of the source data is also a problem and source of frustration when you are trying to import a table with 40 rows. Would make it easier to not force the data type of the source data and to either ignore the value or omit it when importing if it doesn't adhere to the destination field setting.

2) While minor, the file picker is very dated and unwieldy at least on the mac.

3) It seems to freeze relatively often requiring you to wait 30-90 seconds before you can do anything. This often happens when just opening a new tab regardless of whether that tab is presenting alot or a little data.

4) Any manual data updates are applied very slowly. Deleting 100 records from the data view of a table for example may take 30 seconds, when a script doing the same takes .3 seconds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"If you're more of a visual learner this is a great tool to paint an understandable view of your DB."
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

The "Open Visible as Spreadsheet" feature is very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

The auto-completion feature needs some work when writing SQL in the Commander Tab. Hitting the enter key auto selects the first suggestion. This makes creating new lines a pain since you have to escape the prediction before hitting enter. The setting I'm referring to is in Preferences > SQL Commander > Auto Completion > Auto Completion Popup List > Display Automatically. In my IDE you have to arrow down to a suggestion before the enter key will commit. Maybe there's a trick to this that I'm blind to. Other than this hiccup the auto completion feature makes writing a query much faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It does everything I need it to"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

The ability to have 3 different connection types active at once. It makes switching database easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

Specific to my system, the inability to upgrade as it 'cannot access servers'. However I've not tried to fix this either as it's not really an issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Most Useful Working Across Multiple Platforms, One Interface"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

Having only to have to learn & use one tool across multiple database platforms is the key benefit of DbVisualizer. Once you master the application for basic database work, you also find that there are many tools available that again work across all databases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

That the export feature is limited by the Max Rows and if this isn't set to more than the number of records expecting to be exported, the extract gets truncated. The Export functionshould export all results regardless of the parameter set in the GUI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

The ease of connection to different hosts and the quick and efficient possibility of generating queries and/or modifications to the data model. Excellent product, everything I need to work with multiple databases from different products and clients. Very well organized and the interface is very clear. The query history is very good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

"It should be easier to be able to make a backup of a database engine and restore it on another server, since for developers like me, it is a very common task." Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very nice! fast and sweet."
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

Fast to change connection between database. showing results number and the time spend for my queries. Editing data has never been easier. Getting DbVisualiser increased our production time by getting all information needed much more quickly! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

Some version are slower and some time I am loosing connection to the database(I need to click on reconnect, that's it...) but it's probably the configuration of the server. The other thing it's the driver for informix ibm needed to be installed manually on the computer, it doesn't come by default. The licensing was very dispointing 7 years ago, but like other things they just improve it, it's now fine! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The DB tool for cross platform development work."
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

DB visualizer has been the tool best suited for working within mixed data platform environments without having to manage different clients for different data platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

At times DB Visualizer can be a bit sluggish when working with larger datasets and the 'intelligence' is not consistent across data platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very good database client to work with MySQL and PostgreSQL"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

I started using DbVisualizer at first as it has a free version. I have been using it for some time to work on MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. I like it because it is very balanced in CPU and memory usage. Its graphical interface is very simple and it is very fast to execute the queries against the databases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

At the moment, we are only using the free version, so we cannot edit data in the database tables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
