I'm a QA tester for school district software and I'm in DbVisualizer Pro pretty much every day, mostly against our PostgreSQL & MSSQL databases for our internal services and our customers. A lot of my testing depends on having the right data before I start. For example, if I'm testing a report download screen I need a print file my test login can actually see. I just poke around the tables, write a quick query (autocomplete fills in most of the table and column names) and I've got what I need in a couple of minutes. After the test I run the same query again to make sure what the app saved matches what the screen showed me.

I use the software mostly for fixing payrolls for our customers. I can easily back up and back out data, which allows me to rerun programs to repost payrolls. I have used other types of DB softwares but prefer DBVisualizer. It's easy to use and user friendly in my opinion. I haven't used it for integrations yet as I haven't needed it for that reason.

Getting started was easy. I had it connected to our servers and was running queries the first day. Between the docs and the built-in help I haven't needed to contact support.

Performance has been fine for me. I leave it open all day with a few tabs and connections and it keeps up, even with bigger result sets. I love that I can adjust the number of rows of data display to help with performance as well.

I have not used the AI features in DBVisualizer yet, not sure if I will anytime soon. I mainly use external AI features to help in my daily duties.

We pay for Pro and I think it's worth it. Stuff I used to have to ask a developer to check, I just do myself now, several times a day. Grid editing and the export options alone make it worth it over the free version for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Slow on huge schemas. Loading the table list or the relationships view can lag on very large databases.

Dated look. It works well but looks older than some newer tools.

The ability to connect to multiple types of databases (MySQL, Athena, etc.) and color-code each one based on things like environment is huge. I also like that I can quickly view different features of a SQL DB through a simple, easy-to-use navigation system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It’s missing some basics, like a solid fuzzy search when I’m writing a query. Often I roughly know the table or column name, but I don’t always remember the exact prefix offhand, and it slows me down. On top of that, the pricing feels high, both for a first-time purchase and for renewals, especially compared with most competitor offerings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

DbVis's biggest strength in my work flow is the ability to connect to multiple database backends. The ability to name tabs without saving, the logging interface, ability to export results, and doing so while feeling snappy. It makes for a fantastic experience. I don't use the AI features as of now, but hope to dig into them when I finally have time. I've never had to reach out to support because the software just works - I've yet to find anything confusing, or anything that wasn't intuitive. Getting DbVis installed and connected took maybe 5 minutes, and I was writing queries. For the money, it genuinely can't be beat. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If I had to pick a couple of things I find to be friction points, it would be the aggressiveness of the auto-complete - though there may be settings for this, and the VIM integration. The autocomplete can get rather bothersome trying to guess what you're doing, and it doesn't stop. It would be nice if the timeout was per word, vs per initial autocomplete pop-up. The VIM integration is incomplete at best. I'm VERY glad it's there, it will be nice if they round it out add full functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The UI feels intuitive, and I really appreciate that it still runs smoothly even when I’m working with an enormous number of lines in a SQL Commander window. That reliability is especially useful for my day-to-day work. I also find the export options easy to use which is very useful for creating reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It will occasionally freeze when I’m running queries in several SQL Commander windows at the same time. When that happens, I’m forced to restart the entire application through Task Manager, which means I have to rerun those queries. I’ve also noticed that when auto-commit is turned off, it doesn’t clearly indicate whether a function run has been committed. I have been using DbVisualizer on a daily basis, both for my personal projects at home and for my professional tasks at work, and it has quickly become my absolute go-to database client.

What I love most about DbVisualizer is how incredibly complete it is. It handles everything I throw at it without feeling bloated or overly complicated. In fact, it is exceptionally easy to use. The interface is intuitive, allowing you to connect and start querying right away without a steep learning curve.

What I appreciate most is that I can actually afford it. As the owner of a small sole proprietorship, the license price is very accessible, yet I get a fully professional tool packed with powerful features.

In the last few months, the majority of my consultancy work has involved database migrations — from Oracle to PostgreSQL, SQL Server to MariaDB, and similar transitions. DbVisualizer shines in these projects. It connects seamlessly to virtually every database engine, and its graphical interface puts all the different database flavors on the same conceptual level. This makes data migration, type conversion, and schema mapping much smoother and less error-prone.

The modern connection panel is another big plus — it supports all the protocols needed for cloud databases without complications. Honestly, there’s nothing major I dislike. The only small things I noticed are that some keyboard shortcuts (like Ctrl+Enter) differ from other tools I regularly use, and a few definition generation templates are displayed differently than I expected.

These are minor differences that simply come from habits built with previous software. Once I spent a little time adapting to DbVisualizer’s logic and perspective, everything started to feel natural. In fact, overcoming that short initial adjustment period even helped me learn new approaches to my daily work.

DbVisualizer is a fixed hub of connections that always stay with you, and where you can manage sensitive environments (prod, staging) with individual banners (red, yellow) for warning and identification (to be warned to be careful before you execute the sql on prod). It has your back for mission critical sql, and it also has all db specifics in check (like showing you timezone specific date information / simulating a different time-zone for showing the time-zone specific data-fields, helping you with hard to research problems like transaction safety and deadlock situations by providing sql windows for concurrent execution of sql side-by-side, and many more things you need as database specialist of full-stack-dev). It provides you with a great history of your logs where you can search in to profit from your already learned experience. It has been a great support in my career as software developer for quite some years, and i especially like that it always keeps up with recent drivers and brings in new databases and the UI has also greatly improved with a modern interface, and it also works on Linux! Also great are its export and import capabilities. You will find great use in being able to export Table Schemas when you need to construct those tables again you SQL seed files, or similar tasks. You can even let it process long running big data imports from script files safely.

They also have specificaly good customer support, where you really get helped when having a problem with specific instructions and guide to help you get on track again with very fast answer frequency (often on the same day) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is not much. The only thing i can think of, is that the SQL History gets a bit slow over time if you like to keep everything! like me. Then it starts to slow down a bit when you click on the history and you need to wait until it shows up. Also the startup time of the tool can be a bit slow (in older versions). Being able to run multiple queries across different tabs, without worrying that I’ll lose them if I don’t save each one, is a great feeling. Having access to the history to quickly find and revisit previous queries is also really helpful. The ability to change how much virtual memory is available makes running long queries possible. I wish there were a way to wrap code and then collapse or shrink that wrapper, because it would make working with long queries much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I learned on MSSQL, any when I changed jobs to a company that used MySQL, this was much easier for me to have visual representation of my data layouts Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
