We just used the admin account to send out invite links to all of the users, and then sent them a few short instructions on installing the software and moving their files into the cloud-protected folder. **What do you dislike about Datto Workplace?** We had a really hard time migrating data from old servers. Quite a few clients needed to move away from physical servers and wanted their files on Datto Workplace, but moving terabytes of files into the cloud was a little tricky with the latest version of the software. My team ended up finding the trick to doing this, is to install the older version, which allowed you to point to an existing folder and sync that. (The new version creates a folder in which you had to drag the files into, but it capped out at syncing 25GB at a time or something like that. My use last use was early summer 2021, so updates may be in place now.) **Recommendations to others considering Datto Workplace:** Datto Workplace is a great option for anyone considering migrating their files away from a physical server. If you also want to give your office the flexibility of a hybrid work environment this is a great option. I have not personally tried DropBox Professional, so I only know how this product compares to DropBox Personal license, and Datto Workplace blows it out of the water. The best part about Datto as a company is that they've always had top-notch customer support. You can call in and get a live rep in minutes, and every single one I ever talked to was very well trained. **What problems is Datto Workplace solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used Datto Workplace from around 2018 to 2021 at my previous employer. We helped many local businesses go from physical servers to Datto Cloud Storage. This eliminated their need to replace and maintain a physical server in perpetuity and eliminated the costs thereof. You can easily set user permissions, password protects your shares, require validation, expire access after a set amount of time or number of downloads, and require users to log in for auditing purposes. The system automatically captures access logs, as well as usernames and IP addresses. We have an easily accessed record of who accessed files when we do external shares, which has saved us a lot of back and forth if someone claims they never received something. **What do you dislike about Datto Workplace?** We have two companies sharing several folders, and the on-premise server sync tool for one of the companies has a consistent error because we can only grant folder ownership to one sync agent at a time. The files still sync, and the end-users don't need to make changes to those folders. But if they did, we would need to figure out a workaround for the folders shared between companies. **What problems is Datto Workplace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our client has dozens of small locations that need to sync data back to the on-premise Corporate headquarters server. Workplace lets those locations drag and drop their files into a file folder, and the system automatically syncs it back to the server. This has saved me a ton of time searching through our server for a document that I forgot where I saved it. **What do you dislike about Datto Workplace?** The only thing I miss is being able to edit a document and just click save to overwrite the old document. I have to download the document, edit it, then re-save it on Datto. Small price to pay though for having a secure server. **What problems is Datto Workplace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Datto automatically backs up our server, so we no longer have to pay another company to back-up our physical server in our office. We no longer have to worry about the server crashing, which it did once before. This created down time for our firm, and luckily our IT department was able to get us up and running again. ### 24. It’s important in changing files and accomplish the capacity to feel not to worry around my oeuvre. The positive thing is that I can get behind the group of files in a folder at once and last but not least our electronic signature constitutes an effort to feel us worry-free. Moreover, an application with strange storage capacity and messaging service along with a good scope of synchronization is treated in itself. **What do you dislike about Datto Workplace?** Synology made a real good software meeting all the expectations, but there should be more help available to understand its broad functions. Sometimes the internet can make a hurdle in configuration and that’s not a great mess. You can set various setting in Autotask such as multi-factor authentication, locked files, Office 365 online editing, and even central management. It can be used to sync users and servers, and has version copies you can access. I've encountered a few disconnect and locked file issues, but they are rare and minor. This is also the place where you would create other customers accounts and user accounts as well as setup a company wide share if you wanted to.
