What do you like best about Databricks?

Before exploring Databricks I had worked on many tools & their integration to make Data flow simpler but Databricks is doing wonders in this space by unifying Data + AI at one platform & also giving smooth UI to Intereatc & get your job done in a simplified manner Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Databricks?

Although my experience is really good but what I have observed is that data bricks is doing wonders with Azure most of the time, I think they introduce Databricks as PAAS with other platforms like AWS especially. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Learning curve - for users unfamiliar with Apache Spark there may be a learning curve to fully utilize platform capabilities.

Complexity - managing and optimizing large-scale data workflows can be comples, requiring skilled data engineers and administrators,

I really appreciate how Databricks Lakehouse Platform merges the strengths of data lakes and data warehouses, creating a unified space for handling data tasks. It’s like having the best of both worlds which simplifies data management and analytics significantly. The collaborative notebooks are a cherry on top, fostering teamwork and making iterative development smooth among our data teams. What do you dislike about Databricks?

The initial hill to climb in terms of learning can be a bit steep, especially if you're new to big data platforms. It felt like a slow start, but once past that hurdle, things started to click. The cost factor can be a bit of a pinch, especially for smaller setups or projects on a tight budget. While there's a decent amount of guidance out there, the documentation can sometimes leave you wanting more, especially when you hit complex or unique challenges that require a deeper dive to navigate through. What problems is Databricks solving and how is that benefiting you?

Databricks Lakehouse Platform is tackling the headache of juggling between data lakes and data warehouses. It's kind of bundled the two into one neat package, making data management and analytics way less complicated. This fusion is cutting down on the tech pile-up in our projects big time, making it simpler to switch between data engineering and data science chores. When it comes to number crunching, the platform's speedy analytics is making queries quick and data sharing reliable, which is big for our decision-making. The collaborative notebooks are a cool feature too, they're encouraging teamwork and making back-and-forth on development ideas smoother among our data teams. There’s a bit to chew on initially learning-wise and the pricing can sting a little, but the payback in simpler data operations and better teamwork is solid. "Best all-in-one Data Platform environment"

What do you like best about Databricks?

By providing a fully-managed, highly performant and customizable Spark environment along with regular top-tier productivity features, Databricks is undeniably the most complete Data Platform in the market. My favorites features would be :

* Unity Catalog that provides colum-level lineage and a centralized access right management service

* Delta Live Table that provides easy to implement Data Quality control and monitoring

* Extensive CLIs that gives freedom in chosing your CI/CD platform

What do you dislike about Databricks?

The offline development can be improved. The recently release of a VsCode Extension and also Spark connect are steps towards this but still needs more features to be satisfying. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Databricks solving and how is that benefiting you?

Databricks helps us develop and deploy Data Products and train Machine Learning models more successfully in production, in very short amount of time, a secured environment and with controlled costs management.

Its compatibility with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform also allows us to easily reproduce our standards accross multiple instances.

Databricks has been developing an excellent product with new features being added constantly. ETL/ELT, dbt integration, integration with external sources, and many more features make it a product that is versatile and highly effective. Managment of permissions is also extremely easy. "Beast When It Comes To Data On Cloud"

What do you like best about Databricks?

1. ACID compliance on Data Lake which saves not only cost for storage but makes queries faster.

2. Customizable as per budget (by use of correct cluster sizing and other ways)

1. Clusters often take up a lot of time to start up.

2. Many bugs were encountered personally on the new Unity Catalogue feature.
