## Constant Contact Reviews
  ### 1. Billed us through an ICU crisis & ignored refund requests

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carmen H. | Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I’ve used Constant Contact on and off over the years. The basic email builder and list management are fairly straightforward for a non-technical user, and it’s easy enough to import contacts and send simple newsletters. Whatever positives exist in the product, though, have been completely overshadowed by how the company handled us during a medical crisis.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

When my husband (the account holder) had a major medical emergency in early May and spent over a month in the ICU, Constant Contact’s handling of our account was appalling. Once I was able to get to his subscriptions, I contacted Billing, provided documentation of his hospitalization, and requested a refund for charges incurred while he was incapacitated and unable to manage online services. We were told in May that the request was “under review.”

Since then, we’ve followed up repeatedly — on September 8, September 24, October 7, October 27, and December 6. As of today, we still have no clear decision and no refund. The clear message is that they will keep charging a card even when a customer is in intensive care and cannot reasonably cancel. The lack of empathy, transparency, and follow-through from Billing and Support has completely destroyed any trust I had in this vendor.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Constant Contact for basic email marketing, sending newsletters and updates to clients and prospects and managing contact lists. It handled those tasks adequately, but any benefit we got from the product has been completely overshadowed by how the company treated us when my husband was hospitalized in ICU, unable to pause or cancel his subscriptions, and we asked for a reasonable refund, sharing hospital documentation.

**Official Response from RJ McLaughlin:**

> Hello Carmen, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We understand your frustrations and would appreciate the opportunity to further assist.

Although you shared more information with us, we were unable to locate an account with the provided email or phone number. Would there be another email address or phone number that was used when signing up for your Constant Contact account?

Please send an email to social_support[at]constantcontact[dot]com with your Constant Contact username, account email address, and a reference to this review so that our team can help you out.

  ### 2. Interesting Customer Retention Practices.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colin L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

The reporting of each campaign is useful.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

It is beyond belief that an E-Commerce business, where you interact with no one when establishing the account, requires you to speak to "the department that handles that." when you want to close the account.

Their own process outlined in the Q&A section, states that they will not pressure you into staying - not my experience!

They try to convince you that the reason they need to speak to you is to "ensure your security." However, there is nothing in that call that even resembles security, but there are many questions about how they may be able to help you better use the product.

For 2023, sales tactics that were the norm in 2013 show the actual maturity of this business. "wink wink".

It is actually pretty sad.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None really

**Official Response from RJ McLaughlin:**

> Hello Colin, I appreciate you leaving a review of Constant Contact and sharing your recent experience. I'm sorry that you found it unreasonably difficult to cancel your account, it's certainly not our intention to make things harder for our customers that find that Constant Contact is not for them. I'd like to apologize on behalf of our team and confirm that your account has been successfully cancelled. If there's anything further we can do to help, don't hesitate to reach out to our team at social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com.

All our best,
RJ

  ### 3. Customer Service is Non-Existent. They don't appreciate a 14 year client!

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manny S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

It's just a service that has seem to have lost it's sense of loyalty to it's customer. Basically, It's the lesser of all evils!

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

I've been a faithful user of Constant Contact for 14 years, maintaining both a Partner Account and a second account for which I paid a hefty $250.00 per month. However, my long-standing loyalty to this email marketing platform was severely tested when they made some abrupt policy changes in September. I found myself in a frustrating situation that truly highlighted the company's lack of consideration for its dedicated customers.

The trouble began when Constant Contact sent out an email notification regarding these policy changes, which I regrettably missed. Upon realizing the consequences of this oversight, I decided to reach out to their customer support for assistance. Little did I know that this would be an incredibly disheartening experience.

My initial call to Constant Contact's customer support had me waiting on hold for over an hour, only to get disconnected without any resolution. Frustrated but determined, I dialed their number once more, enduring another 32 minutes of hold music before finally speaking to a representative named John from the "partner team."

Hoping for some understanding and goodwill from a company I had faithfully supported for over a decade, I inquired if there was any possibility of receiving a concession for the two months of additional $18 billing I was being subjected to. It seemed only fair, given my 14 years of unwavering patronage.

To my astonishment, John's response was not only disappointing but also downright disrespectful. He displayed an unapologetically condescending attitude and appeared completely uninterested in addressing my concerns. At one point, he callously remarked that he was "just there to answer the phone," essentially conveying that he had no intention of taking any action to resolve the issue or offer any compensation.

This encounter left me incredulous and deeply disheartened. It's disheartening to witness a company like Constant Contact, with such a long history in the industry, displaying such blatant disregard for customer loyalty. The lack of empathy and willingness to accommodate a long-term customer speaks volumes about their priorities.

In conclusion, my recent experience with Constant Contact was nothing short of disappointing. Their indifference to the loyalty and trust I had placed in them for 14 years was a bitter pill to swallow. It's a stark reminder that some companies seem to have forgotten the value of customer appreciation and goodwill. If you're considering Constant Contact, be prepared for a tough and unsympathetic customer support experience when you need it most.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating with members and potential members about events and promotions. It's a way to reach members and community businesses...

  ### 4. Frustrated with the system and have to constantly refresh the screen to get buttons to work.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth W. | Communications Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

We use the product for our all staff weekly notes. We've made it into an interactive way for staff to know what is happening in the district. I use it every week throughout the school year, however, have thought about finding a different platform more often than not. I like being able to see how many people are interacting with our content.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Strongly limited to what you can do with design in the product. More often than not, I have to refresh my screen in order to paste something into a section because the right click to past won't come up. After refreshing it then works. Your mouse has to be in a very specific spot in order for the options for text to appear. We also use the poll as a way to interact with staff and you are very limited on the number of characters allowed in the poll. Lastly, often times the text changes style and size from what you put into the section.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Joining another platform that offers these options along with others is likely a better option. Compared to the functualitly of other demos I have seen, CC is much more "Old School".

  ### 5. Constant Contact Review

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

It's easy to upload an Excel sheet of contacts.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Creating an email takes me hours! It is very slow, difficult to move items, and takes me hours to complile 1 monthly newslettter.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to reach a large number of students.

  ### 6. Aging Platform with Limited Data Accessibility

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dina R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I like that Constant Contact is pretty simple to use.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

The general data analysis, dashboards, and data should be easier to review from every email without having to click through so many different things.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Constant Contact allows us to reach thousands of our constituents with weekly email newsletters.

**Official Response from RJ McLaughlin:**

> Thank you for your review, Dina. While it sounds like Constant Contact has been easy to use in helping you reach thousands of contacts with each campaign, we're sorry to hear that we've delivered a 0-star experience. If there's anything we can do to bring your experience to a 5-star experience, please send an email to social_support[at]constantcontact[dot]com with your account name, email address, a reference to this review, and any additional feedback for our team.

  ### 7. Affordable but Lacking Essential Features

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I like that it's cheap.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

The support is non-existent. Their pricing structure isn't clear, they lack some basic features and gatekeep others behind arbitrary paywalls that other products provide free of charge. The product is terrible.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It lets me send emails in mass.

**Official Response from RJ McLaughlin:**

> Hello there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. A rating like this tells us something went seriously wrong, and that's not the experience Constant Contact is built to deliver. We'd genuinely like to understand what happened and see what we can do to make it right. Please reach out — our award-winning support team is ready to help.

If you still need additional assistance, please send an email to social_support[at]constantcontact[dot]com along with your account name, email address, and a reference to this review so that our team can further assist.

  ### 8. Constant Contact Review

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I liked that it was easily linked to my website, thus allowing me to get my same color scheme and logo.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

I do not like their customer service and lack of professionalism. They also keep adding on more money as you need more products of theirs to fully function.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My benefits was using mass emails to send out to prospects I collected info on.

  ### 9. Can't cancel the account online

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim A. | CEO/CTO, Broadcast Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2015

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Easier than MailChimp for creating your own code. Switched to CampaignMonitor which is much better for my needs.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Thought I cancelled my account. Found out I was still being billed monthly. Can cancel through the web interface or customer service chat. They make you call billing services. Then you have to listen to the upsell to try to keep your account active. Even though they just billed my credit card today, They won't credit me for the month. I hate when companies require verbal contact to try to save you as a customer.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Let me get out emails. Their templates were not great. Always coded myself. They allowed me to add my own code.

  ### 10. Should spend more time on coding than marketing

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2015

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

OK if you know nothing and don't want much customization

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Support knows nothing. Using the latest Firefox and MacOS, and they tell me it's my browser. Try to use HTML and it really knows nothing. Very unstable code, does not display on devices as previewed, I could go on and on.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

If you want to look unique, and not like a Constant Contact template, DO NOT USE. Changing anything is an exercise in frustration.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

  ### 11. customer service

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Program Development | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Email production and creations- speed

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Constant Contact will sign you up excitingly telling you all it's wonderful features but then after you have expended the time and energy to put in the data, the individual e-mails and addresses they will pull audit if you have too many bounces ( because they assume spam) they will require you to go back over your list while they put an hold on your working account to do a review. Then after that review they will THREATEN you if it happens again they will cancel the account. This after all the work you have put in ..unbelievable.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Consider the effort of others and the possibilities of people changing e-mails or emails possibly typed in wrong ... Do really think we the people who have put in this work to make the e-mail don't care if the email gets to the right address .but if you are one person you don't have the time to go through all the bounces to correct them .. We do our best to make sure the emails go out properly. And to be treated to this is enough to make a person angry.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The emails help to keep people aware and focused

  ### 12. Terrible experience trying to cancel account

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

It's easy to use and reasonably priced. It's decent tool all around

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Customer Service to cancel the account was terrible experience

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Had a good experience fro what we used it but when trying to cancel there is no option on the website, tried chatting with a customer service rep online only to be told I MUST cancel by phone. I was on hold for 15 minutes before a CS agent picked up and it was sales pitch after sales pitch (free month, maintenance account, etc etc) before I was able to cancel.

It's a shame about the exit experience being so bad since the use of the tool was decent

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Email

  ### 13. constant contact is a weak platform

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Umberto (Bert) S. | Entrepreneur, Restaurants, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I like nothing about it, its not user friendly and its way too expensive compared to other platforms.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

its not user friendly, the billing is twice as much as other platforms and they hold you to the contract so buyer beware!

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

There are way better platforms for much less money, I would not sign with CC.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We signed up for it so we could stay in touch with our customers only to realize there are far better platforms out there with much less expense and NO CONTRACT.

  ### 14. Absolutely a pain for anyone who knows HTML

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Some of the free templates aren't bad and look nice on mobile, and the drag and drop interface is nice when it works correctly. Users that are not technically inclined can use the drag and drop interface to make emails that look OK. Nonprofit discounts.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

No way to edit HTML in text boxes. Sometimes formatting gets stuck in a text area (weird fonts, colors, sizes) and there's nothing you can do about it except try the WYSIWYG buttons. No way to fix the line height issues that always happen when copying from another source. No Undo button when you delete something (text or block) by accident. No way to search your campaigns if you want to make a new one based off an old one - you have to click through each page of your campaigns to find it. The font sizes on the Reporting tab are so gigantic it's a pain to review on the page, and again you can't search or designate a date range. Can't change very many items on the unsubscribe/subscribe pages - we wanted to make a page where users could sign up for different segments and change them on the fly, and it seems to be impossible. FINALLY reporting for the percentage of mobile/desktop views per email was added, but years after competitors added this - their capabilities are really behind other ESPs by years.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

I would tell them to run far, far away and please consider Campaign Monitor or MailChimp instead. Other ESPs have far better capabilities for creating emails and reporting. The only thing that Constant Contact potentially does better is have a better deal for nonprofits.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this to send email for a nonprofit client. The free/low-cost options for nonprofits are very nice and provide a greater savings to nonprofits than other ESPs we use. However, I would not recommend them to anyone but a nonprofit.

  ### 15. Recent Changes in June 2017 Make Constant Contact Awful!

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

The Social Share feature is better than Hootsuite

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

The recent changes to the organization of emails and events is outright dumb and useless. You can't see your events nor emails in order because they don't sort by date! It's crazy to think that you don't need to have your events and emails in order of date. I need to be able to see at a glance what events are coming up and what emails are scheduled! It's driving my staff crazy to have to weed through our dozens of emails to find the one's they need to work on!

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Events have increased in attendance since we started using CC Events.

  ### 16. As an email designer, this is not my favorite Email Marketing System

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer K. | Founder, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Unfortunately I don't like much about this system. I suppose I'd say it has good customer service. I've found their customer service polite and well-informed.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

I cannot code custom email templates for my clients that are editable visually in Constant Contact. This means that I rarely work with Constant Contact and I recommend to my clients not to use this system. I much prefer MailChimp as MailChimp allows me to code very clean and easy-to-edit email templates. MailChimp is much more user friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

I wouldn't recommend use of this program if you're looking for a more customized and brand-specific email design.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am an email designer and coder. I provide my clients with reusable email templates that are modern, responsive, and brand-specific.

I have not received any benefits from the Constant Contact system.

  ### 17. Constant Contact

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2017

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Flexible, easy to use templates, good management of mailing lists

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Almost everything goes to SPAM! We wanted analytics, but we learned quickly not to trust them since a "bounce rate" didn't include email going to SPAM. And the unopened percentage wouldn't couont if no one had the email in their inbox in the first place!

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Make sure you are testing a lot with regard to SPAM filters.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. Too few recipients receive our emails, so we can't trust that the message is going communicated.

  ### 18. Outdated

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Not much at all. It wasn't very modern or useful.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Outdated. The data and reporting wasn't ideal.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reach

  ### 19. Out-of-date software

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Performing Arts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

All Constant Contact features are out of date and clumsy to use. I would not recommend this to anyone.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

-Lists are difficult to manage and Constant Contact does not provide a list management structure that's conducive to cleanliness and organization.

-Drag-and-drop design tools are not competitive with current state of email technology

-Until the time we discontinued use of Constant Contact, they did not provide mobile-friendly templates, which is unacceptable.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

I would highly recommend choosing another product that's more competitive in the field, like Mailchimp. Your brand needs to look modern and competitive in the inbox, and Constant Contact does not help brands achieve this.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Constant Contact to stay in touch with our constituents, providing news updates and event announcements.

  ### 20. Technical support could not solve a basic problem after ~2 hours

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2015

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Good contact import tools
Easy to contact customer support with reasonable wait
Cheaper than Mail Chimp

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

I requested help from 3 tech support people and spent approximately 2 hours on the phone. On the third (last) call, I was on the phone for over 50 minutes and the technician (Mike A.). At the end of this call he didn't know what was wrong and asked if he could call me back after doing research. After ~20 minutes, he called back and said it worked. He said an advanced tech had to program the link himself. When I sent the email it still didn't work. When I called and asked for a refund, I was told I'd have to wait on the phone until they'd researched the problem and found it was an error with their system.

I am sure Constant Contact has a system that will work well for most users. But, the customer service I recieved couldn't solve my issue in a reasonable amount of time.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

If you are sending a basic email. Search for a coupon and use Constant Contact. I found a 30% off coupon. But, if it is an advanced email and you need tech support, try using the free service to test the service before purchasing it.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am trying to send an email to all companies currently using our service requesting that they revisit their existing profile and update it. I wanted to add a dynamic company name and profile url pulled from my contact list. The company name was to be the anchor text and the URL was to be the link (destination address). This critically important link is where I found a issue with Constant Contact's system and needed help.

  ### 21. needs improvement, big-time

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc A. | Graduate Student, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2015

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

it's nice to have the ability to streamline access your stored contacts

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

is it user friendly? does it offer photo editing that actually grabs your eye and impresses you? Is constant contacts design savvy? In my opinion it's not so great. It is, precisely, technologically ho-hum. It needs work, guys and much improvement especially in this day and age.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the benefit of staying in touch with contacts; hence the name of the company.

  ### 22. Old and Clunky Platform

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

The best part about Constant Contact is that it's free!

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Clunky and time consuming. Difficult to make visually pleasing. Seems made for beginners

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Low click rate, goes to spam folders

  ### 23. Constant contact thoughts

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

There are a lot of functionality features that work really well such as client email databases.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

It is a hard tool to learn. It also can be challenging to create a good looking email blast when trying custom design.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

If you don't have design experience and you are happy with templates they provide, then this is a much simpler tool than if you want to create a new design.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sending out mass emails to promote your brand

  ### 24. Hard to use and limited functionality

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

The ability to sort people into losts and target emails to specific groups, optimal time to send

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Outdated interface, laggy website, buggy when trying to edit email components, default advertising of constant contact at the bottom of the email

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Consider another provider

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Good for automation of emails to targeted lists and analysis of conversion rafes

  ### 25. Clunky but Works

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roger C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

If using a familiar template, it is fairly easy to send a newsletter.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

It is not pleasurable to use, because it is ugly and not particularly intuitive.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Explore alternatives, such as MailChimp.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We send monthly newsletters to help keep our audience engaged.

  ### 26. Very Basic - Good if you don't understand coding or segmenting

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Constant Contact has a very basic system and user interface, which can be good for newbies.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

It's incredibly difficult to segment your lists and there's no built in systems for testing your subject lines or email content.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

If you know anything about email marketing, dont use this software. In fact, even if you dont know anything, dont use this product. For less money you can use mailchimp and get as easy an interface but which much more sophisticated features.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None - I left constant contact because I thought it wasnt as sophisticated a product as our business deserved.

  ### 27. Constant contact

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

The options available. For use for the administrator. I feel like there has got to be more though

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Not the most user friendly and expensive, I feel like there has got to be more information or analytics you should be able to pull from this.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reaching out to large groups quickly

  ### 28. Extra services not worth a fraction of what I paid

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Nothing. Did not work for me. Good if I want to everything myself.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

I was talked into paying $750 for 3 month service for a representative to put together multiple emails for our company. Basically had to provide everything as if I was doing it myself. Then, the emails that the rep put together were probably worse than I could have done myself. Total waste of money.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Ok if you want to do everything yourself. I definitely would not recommend you paying anything extra for them to do anything for you since it's a waste of your time and money.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A good email program

  ### 29. Like Mailchimp Much Better

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Really the only thing I liked about Constant Contact was the ease of switching over to MailChimp. We just exported everything as lists and template and voi-lah!

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

I felt there were not as many features and functions as there are with other platforms like Mailchimp.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were solving eblast issues using Constant Contact. The reporting feature was also kind of nice but again, not as detailed or intricate as other platforms.

  ### 30. Not Up to the Task

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph B. | E-Learning Production, Kiosk Development, Managed WordPress Provider and Website Designer/Host, E-Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Nice looking layouts. But there are not really enough choices to avoid customizing them further.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

The cost. Why do we have to pay for this if I only have a small list? I also dislike how difficult it is to get the layouts to look really nice if you try to alter them in any way.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's "fair" as a newsletter solution but Mailchimp is far better.

  ### 31. Better products out there

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

It is a way to get your message out through email.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Over priced. There are better products available.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

better price plan and user friendly product

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting my message out through email.

  ### 32. One of the worst choices out there

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

It used to be great for automated campaigns, but they have been dinged repeatedly for spam and blocked by a lot of email servers.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Nothing gets through anymore. Too much user abuse (people uploading purchased email lists) destroyed the platform. They should have had more oversight and qualitative analytics.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Keep looking around and be on the look out for platforms that identify problem emails in advance.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was list management and campaign generation.

  ### 33. Look elsehwere

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

This is a cheap offering, so if you're on a very tight budget it's ok.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Pretty much everything. Very limited templates, and no automation options.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Look at more all encompassing products like sharpspring, hubspot or other moderately priced marketing automation platforms.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Email marketing.

  ### 34. Many Other Tools Do What They Do, But Better

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

The only things I like about this tool is that is pretty user friendly/easy to use. and the cost is low. You don't have to guess where things are - the tabs are self explanatory. I think many people try Constant Contact because of the price tag and option to try the software for 60 days, free. There are a variety of templates you can pick from, but none have anything to amazing design-wise in my opinion. They are pretty responsive at getting back to you if you do have a problem and also always willing to help/discuss terms of your contract if you are looking for a better rate/different features, etc.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Yjere are many things I dislike about Constant Contact. The wizzywig has issues and constantly adds code/changes colors/fonts etc which makes a tool that is supposed to save time, more time consuming. There is also limited space so depending on the size of your marketing list, this tool may not be a good choice. The other marketing automation tools out there do a better job with reporting a list segmentation - this tool is so basic. It's probably best for a newsletter being sent to a smaller list, at a small company.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

I recommend HubSpot if you like a user-friendly tool with more reporting and options for better target marketing.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They don't really practice Inbound Marketing best practices. You can basically scrub your lists using this tool while many others doc you/will cancel your contract if your deliverability is bad. I see this being an issue with compliance and GDPR and the new laws and regulations surrounding email marketing - especially in the EU.

  ### 35. Marketing

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Mails are easy to send out withgood templates

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Customer support contact for initial learning

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Email

  ### 36. Difficult to customize

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Easy to use for simple sends. No html knowledge required.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Cannot customize html without over complicating things. Reporting on custom html is lacking too

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Interacting with customers

  ### 37. Catered to smaller organizations

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

It served well when have an email database of about 40. It’s simple if you don’t need to get too creative.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

There’s no real function to A/B test emails against one another. You can’t personalize emails to the recipient (ex. Include their first name, include loyalty points). Also, the site would sometimes revert the email and not save what you were doing.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Great if you’re running a small business.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Promoting sales

  ### 38. Many better options

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Morgan Y. | Marketing Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

It gets the job done. There are not many bells and whistles.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

It's clunky. There are far better options available.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

Compare to other products.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When a user unsubscribes from one constant contact vendor, it unsubscribes from all other vendors that use Constant Contact.

  ### 39. Constant Contact - High Cost, Bad Support,Full of obstacles

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cengiz K. | CIO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I do not see any upside at Constant Contact.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

First, it is too expensive and has only 2 plans. You can not resize your plan as to your needs.

**Recommendations to others considering Constant Contact:**

They have ordinary email marketing tools, pop-ups, sign-up forms. And they have an e-commerce service but very primitive.
And be careful before enrolment because I tried to cancel my account over too many phone calls. After hours I could succeed to cancel. Enrolment is very easy but cancellation is too hard.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They have ordinary email marketing tools, pop-ups, sign-up forms. And they have an e-commerce service but very primitive.

  ### 40. Well-known application but limited features

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

The interface for designing emails was relatively straightforward, with standard drag-and-drop usability and reliable appearance.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Reporting and tracking functions are not useful. Overall reports can be created, but the really useful information - about individual users and their actions - can not be viewed in any kind of aggregate way. (You can click through each individual recipient's record, but you can't download or compile useful information over time.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it as a blast-email system for news, action alerts, and fundraising appeals.

  ### 41. CC is Clunky

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I guess a good thing is that it's simple but that's also it's downfall.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

It's super clunky and there's a lot you can't do. It's hard to format paragraphs and place photos.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sending out quarterly emails.

  ### 42. CONSTANT CONTACT'S SUPPORT IS P A T H E T I C !

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

NOTHING HONESTLY. TONS OF OTHER PROVIDERS OUR THERE WITH BETTER SERVICE.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

SUPPORT IS NOW ALL BUT NON-EXISTENT UNLESS YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO THE SAME HORRIBLE HOLD MUSIC FOR OVER AN HOUR. THEY LIE ABOUT HOLD TIMES...CURRENTLY ON HOLD FOR 48 MINUTES...WAS TOLD MY WAIT WOULD BE 7 MINUTES OR LESS. WHAT A JOKE. THIS IS COMMONPLACE NOW. A ONCE SOLID COMPANY IS FLUSHING ITSELF DOWN THE TOILET.
LIMITATIONS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE WHEN IT COMES TO DESIGN.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AGAIN....SEE ABOVE. THEY DON'T SOLVE ISSUES, THEY CREATE THEM.

**Official Response from RJ McLaughlin:**

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** A J. | Realtor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I like its simplicity and fact that you can upload contacts into the database

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

The exporting feature for the CRM Databased

Keeping in contact with my clients and database

**Official Response from RJ McLaughlin:**

  ### 44. Not Ideal

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer B. | Director of Client Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I like being able to see when clients have opened their email.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Not enough templates, not enough free graphics. Customer support is not helpful when problems arise, feedback is not taken when offered. Tracking is if-y, they will unsubscribe or not deliver to contacts and you get no notification.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem it solves is customers not being able to say "I didn't get that".

  ### 45. Constant Contact falls short in all areas

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

The best part of constant contact is being able to let them choose the best time to send.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Most everything about the program is outdated and not user-friendly.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Constant contact creates more problems than it solves. The only benefit is the auto send feature.

  ### 46. Just "OK" for what is it. Missing Outlook data base interface

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey G. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Design features. I can make anything look really good.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

The Outlook interface - a key selling point - is busted.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'd rather not have to send emails and concern myself with unsubscribers

Your screen shot confirm does not work. Ctrl Print to pictures directory did not work

  ### 47. Constant contact cannot get my email automations to work correctly despite hours on the phone.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

nothing so far, i have not had a positive experience and am in search of a new company to handle my automations.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

inconsistent customer service/support that does not care to solve your problem. Their only job - the ONLY thing I'm paying them for - is to send automated emails to my subscribers. They constantly say "we're working on it, give us four business hours" and then nobody calls back, and when I do get ahold of someone it's as though i'm describing the problem anew. it is crazy making and a huge waste of time.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

they have created more problems for me, not solved any.

**Official Response from RJ McLaughlin:**

> Thank you for taking the time to review Constant Contact, we're sorry to hear about your recent experience with our support team. If you could, please send us more information about your experience, including your account name and a link to this review, to social_support[at]constantcontact[dot]com. We look forward to helping you with this issue.

  ### 48. Limited with increasing price

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

It used to be an inexpensive option.....

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

But over the past two years the price continues to increase very frequently. You cannot send emails based on local times unless you create multiple distribution lists which requires duplicating campaigns and then you need to manually merge the metrics after the fact. Updating contact lists seems easy, but if you have users on your unsubscribe, although the system recognizes these emails, they still charge you as having users (even though they are duplicates) so you need to be aware of this and download your user list, cross reference with what you'd like to add and only add who's not in the system. SUPER MANUAL AND VERY TIME CONSUMING.

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't see this company as a problem solver

  ### 49. My contacts were deleted for No Reason!

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

I like the various options that are offered with Constant contact and that its pretty user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Customer Service is not the best. Many of my contacts were deleted recently for unknown reasons and apparently there is no backup by Constant contact! This is completely unacceptable!!!!

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mass email communication

  ### 50. Could be better

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony W. | Marketing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Constant Contact?**

Too clunky for our use and the support team doesn't listen very well.

**What do you dislike about Constant Contact?**

Honestly most things as it's a bit overvalued

**What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me stay in touch with my audience and send out updates, promos, or announcements without needing a full marketing team.

**Official Response from RJ McLaughlin:**

> Thanks for your review Anthony! I'm sorry to hear that your experience has been clunky and difficult, especially with our support team. We have an award-winning support team, and if you'd like to give our team another chance, we'd be more than happy to help improve your experience. If you'd like additional help, send an email to social_support[at]constantcontact[dot]com with your account name and email and we'll ensure you get assistance.
