The industry is evolving rapidly, and having access to this resource offers an extra layer of data to help identify bad actors before a booking is made. One of the most critical aspects is detecting insurance fraud, particularly when a trucking company is double-brokering or leasing carriers without providing the primary tier of insurance, which introduces significant risk and is fraudulent. Insurance companies should perform more thorough due diligence to fully understand who they are insuring and to monitor trucking companies' VINs and driver ratings, ultimately helping to reduce risks for both their own sector and the broader trucking industry. ELD tracking information is essential for monitoring both truck and driver activity, which is vital for insurance purposes and the transportation industry as a whole. Recently, FMCSA systems have been exploited in increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes, enabling malicious actors to take over an MC and leave everyone at risk. Currently, CarrierOk is unable to fully address this issue, as it would require the FMCSA to implement stricter identification checks and more robust procedures for verifying ownership changes and insurance VINs when granting authority or tracking equipment changes. Collecting IP addresses could serve as an additional layer of defense. It is also essential to raise awareness among insurance companies, which may unknowingly provide coverage to these fraudsters without conducting thorough due diligence. Not sure if this is possible, but it would be a great feature to add a filter on the "Newly Added MCs" list to exclude formation companies. Many of these groups set up spoofed emails and phone numbers for their clients, making it easy to unintentionally send marketing to a third party instead of the actual carrier or broker. Right now, we have to manually filter each report to separate legitimate contacts from formation services. Adding a filter to remove these would help make outreach more efficient and accurate. There is nothing I dislike about Carrier OK, if I had to share one area of opportunity for them would be to find a way to de-thrown C411 Freight Guard Reports as the best way to identify double brokers. If there was a way for CarrierOK to become the aggregator of all these types of reports from multiple platforms, bringing them into one location, it would be an industry game changer. Other attractive attributes are the availability and reasonable costs many other platforms limit availability to specific entities in the industry. Carrier OK affords the opportunity for the smaller independent businesses to have access to the same information and materials that that larger companies pay significant subscriptions from other platforms. We have found little to no downsides to utilizing Carrier OK I find it a vital asset to each of our departments success. from the freight brokerage being able to validate carriers before onboarding without being associated with the likes of Highway or MCP which have no opportunity to look further into something on a carriers account that may be questionable such as an incorrect filing with the FMCSA by a Safety and Compliance service provider that enters something incorrectly for a carrier client. Other platforms risk rate the carrier for up to 6 months utilizing Carrier OK you can verify and validate the carrier and offer opportunity to an otherwise mistakenly high risk company and move forward with a legitimate and non high risk client. Carrier ok is a very easily searchable and flexible up to date database that we can rely on more than even the source or root platform of the DOT.
