What do you dislike about Canto?

Canto is a useful DAM solution, but it may have some drawbacks:

Cost: Pricing can become expensive as the team and storage needs grow.

Learning curve: Some advanced features may take time for new users to understand.

Customization: It may not provide the same level of customization as some enterprise-level DAM platforms.

Organization: Managing large libraries can require careful setup of folders, tags, and permissions.

Advanced workflows: Teams with complex approval or automation processes may find some capabilities limited.

Overall: Canto is user-friendly and effective for many teams, but organizations with highly complex workflows or large-scale requirements may need a more advanced DAM solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"DAM Satisfaction"
5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

Being an admin of my employer's Canto account, I'd like to think I'm conscience of the tool as I'm always engaging and involved with the platform. Recently, I logged in and discovered several features were no longer listed in their previous locations. I realized there was a call out box detailing the availability of App Switcher. With a simple click in a new location, I was able to continue my task. I appreciate Canto's ability to keep users informed while upgrading and enhancing the tool. In my opinion, staying informed amidst a consistent enhancement makes for a definite return-user and an improved user engagement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

I have not ever experienced a disconnect or disliking for Canto. Canto offers its users news articles providing platform updates, ongoing enhancements, remarkable online tutorials and a proficient Customer Support team. In addition, users are able to find, organize and share their assets all seamlessly within and outside of the platform. It's all simple and fast. What is there to dislike? "Simple, User-Friendly Platform That Global Teams Adopt Quickly"
4/5
What do you like best about Canto?

The platform is fairly simple and user-friendly. Creating folders and albums, once you are familiar with the system is straightforward. The registration process is simple and all of my global users have picked it up quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

The AI search still needs work. No matter how I refine queries, I still get unrelated content in my results. A search for a specific place, a country, can still come back with images that are obviously not correct. The uploads link process has a major drawback in that it doesn't provide a menu of registered users to select. It's very time-consuming to input first name, last name and email address for every user I send a link to - which can be links to multiple albums in the same folder - but still require a separate uplink created for every album, rather than simply allowing the user to choose the album within that folder. Very time-consuming to create so many links in that fashion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"AI Search and Event Links Make Photo Sharing Fast and Effortless"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I love the AI search feature, which makes it so much quicker to search for photos I need. I also like how we can set up event links to share in event programs, so people can find event photos that would otherwise not reach the student/audience. I also like how we can set upload permissions for our freelance photographers to upload their photos, streamlining the process of receiving and posting them. What do you dislike about Canto?

I found the onboarding and training process to be much longer and more repetitive than necessary. Canto Academy provided a strong foundation for learning the platform, but many of the follow-up meetings covered the same information we had already completed through the Academy.

The number and length of the meetings also felt excessive for a platform that is very user-friendly and intuitive. At times, the facilitation added to the repetition. We were frequently asked if we had questions, and even after indicating that we did not, the same information or question would sometimes be repeated. This made the sessions feel unnecessarily drawn out and, at times, the facilitator seemed impatient with the process.

I understand that some users may benefit from a more hands-on onboarding experience, but a one-size-fits-all approach may not be the most effective. For users who are comfortable with technology and able to learn independently through Canto Academy, I would recommend using the first meeting to assess how much additional support is actually needed. From there, follow-up meetings could be scheduled as needed to address specific questions or areas where additional guidance would be helpful.

A more flexible onboarding process based on the user's experience and comfort level would make the training more efficient while still providing additional support for those who need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Custom Curated Links and Helpful Portals for Sharing Product Info"
4/5
What do you like best about Canto?

For me, it is the ability to custom curated links of materials. Also, the portals have been really helpful in spoon feeding our dealers information on certain products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

I'm a visual person, so not having images on the folders is a bummer. Also, when in a portal, you have to link to files and those don't automatically get a thumbnail image. I have to go searching for the assets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Asset Management with Stellar Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I like that Canto was easy to move to from another platform, which was a big relief. It's intuitive to use, which increased adoption within our team, and it's great that our team can share files securely. Having all our files in one place makes it easy to locate and store them for various clients and needs. Most of our staff can use it as a self-service option, which is super convenient. The support team is outstanding, always available and ready to assist, even for unusual use cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

Our implementation took longer than expected in the vetting and sales process. Some of our use cases, like managing expirations, are not set up in the primary system, though the team helped us find a workaround. We also had issues with duplicate files that resulted in a complete reupload/migration. The sales team advised we could move in 90 days, and when that did not happen, we had to manage and pay for two platforms longer than expected/planned for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Organization with Folders, Albums, and Fast Search"
4/5
What do you like best about Canto?

I like how you can create numerous folders and albums within the app to keep everything organized, and how you can simply type in whatever you need to quickly find what you’re looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

When I upload something, it always goes straight to the bottom of the album. I really wish there was a way to add new files under a specific section within the album instead of having them drop to the end every time. Also, it used to warn me when a file had the same name and ask whether I wanted to upload it as a new file or replace the existing one. It doesn’t do that anymore, and it’s really slowing me down because I have to manually delete the existing files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A game changer for our organization"
5/5
What do you like best about Canto?

Canto DAM has truly been a game changer for our organization. From the moment we implemented this digital asset management system, we noticed a significant improvement in how we handle our digital assets. The AI tools are particularly impressive, streamlining our search processes and enabling us to quickly find the assets we need, The custom portals have enhanced collaboration across teams, allowing for tailored access to specific assets based on individual project needs. We also love the upload links feature, making it effortless to gather and manage incoming files from various sources. Additionally, the ability to easily assign files to folders and albums has transformed our organizational workflow. This functionality not only keeps our assets organized, but also fosters a more efficient and productive environment. I highly recommend this DAM system to any organization looking to optimize their digital assets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canto?

While we have greatly benefited from Canto DAM. One aspect we find lacking is the inability to batch edit file names. A dedicated rename function for multiple files does not currently exist, and having this feature would significantly enhance our efficiency, especially when managing large volumes of assets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Julie Neumeister of Canto

Hi Madeline — thanks for your thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear how much Canto has improved your workflow, from custom portals to upload links. It’s great to know these features are making collaboration and asset management easier for your team. We appreciate your feedback on batch renaming and understand how valuable that would be for efficiency. We’ll share this with our team as we continue improving the platform. Let us know if there’s anything else we can do to support you!
