The free plan of Better Stack is a great value and includes a lot of features that their competitors only includes in their paid plans. The platform is really easy to use and the integrations are great. I love the fact that you can connect your custom domain even on the free tier. Great to track my self-hosted apps. It is really easy to set up Better Stack Logs within my JavaScript/TypeScript/Java projects using React/Next.js and React/Spring Boot either for the frontend and backend. The documentation really helps even for junior developers and trainees.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to reset a source token. When a token is leaked, I have to delete the source (and all logs) and create a new source.

I use Better Stack for the simple stuff, such as being notified when my websites go down. I'm a solo developer, so I don't have a time of people that have to be notified. It's just me, which means I need to know when a site goes down, and why, so that I can look into it and get the site back up. I bought Better Stack because I was tired of finding out that a site went down from my customers who notified me on social media. Now I can find out before them, look into the cause, and fix it.

I just started using the logs features, now that I have upgraded to my own VPS. I'm glad that Better Stack already has such robust features. It was easy to set up. Within a few minutes I can already see that people are trying to log-in to my server with my root ID and random passwords. Now I'm curious what I can do to prevent this. The interface is great! Super easy to filter data, set things up, get to the problem, go to the end of the tail, etc. I find it very intuitive and easy to use.

The ability to click on elements within the actual log and then build filters from that is very very handy. Makes it super easy to explore possible patterns and hunches without having to make a huge investment in setting up filters.

Configuring sources was ridiculously easy. Probably because I was "cheating" and went through the vercel integration😄 but it was a few clicks and boom, logs-a-flowing.

I can't really think of anything I "dislike". I wish there was a bit less latency, but that is a networking issue AND it's faster than other solutions I've tried. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It binds together things that are logically aligned but seldomly found in a single tool. You can do monitoring and incident management in the same place in a very, very integrated fashion. You can alot schedules for oncall rotations and you can do so in sharable calendars.

As for the log/metrics part of betterstack I've only yet tried the free tier but I'm quite comfortable in saying that it's better than cloudwatch and at least on the standarts of something like elastic/opensearch or datadog. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The initial setup can be a bit complex for newcomers who are not familiar with the intricacies of monitoring and logging systems. Got it running for 3 of our applications in about an hour. The status page option is great. You can also add your own domain if you like. The application is very intuitive to use, you will not need help and support for basic stuff. There are tons of options to configure if you need it. The free plan is generous.
