The overall capacity for data management is impressive. Freeing up internal server space has definitely made our IT admin smile more. Being able to share every discipline’s work in one place has also reduced the excessive emails we used to send while searching for drawings. I believe the user experience within the platform could be more user-friendly and, ideally, simplified over time. I often find myself hopping through several layers of settings (project, HUB, executive, admin, etc.) just to locate the specific option I want to adjust. With so many different portals to navigate, it can feel overwhelming for new users, so I usually only introduce them to one or two areas at first until they have a solid grasp of the Forma interface. The ability to have our consultants work directly from the files area without downloading project files to their network locations and changing our file structures. I like that Autodesk Forma is simple and powerful, with its AI integration. It's really scaling at a high velocity, which is beneficial for our advanced project management tasks. I have a big concern with Autodesk Forma when it comes to bringing information from BIM 360 projects into the platform. The process isn't smooth, and I think it needs a lot of improvement. Additionally, synchronizing data between two cities, especially when working with public entities, is a bit tricky. There's a need for a more effective method to ensure that information can be accessed and consulted by both the public entity and myself as a supplier and official contractor. I'm the only IT resource for a 115-person general contractor, so what matters most to me is a platform that doesn't require me to babysit it. We don't have dedicated project admins. Once I configured SSO through Entra ID and published our project template, PMs and superintendents stand up and run their own projects without routing everything through me. Docs, Build, and Forms cover what our field and office teams actually do.

Forms has been the standout: superintendents and PMs run daily reports and our Safety Manager runs safety audits, all of which used to live in PlanGrid. Autodesk support and our CSM have been genuinely responsive, which is not something I say about most vendors. When I escalate, I get a real answer instead of a runaround. Mobile is where we feel the most friction. Sheets and other content can be slow to load, syncing isn't consistently reliable, and on-device storage fills up on iPads that live on a jobsite. Those are the complaints that actually reach my desk.

On the admin side, we add users manually, so user lifecycle depends on someone remembering rather than on automation. That's workable at our size but it doesn't scale on its own. I'd also note the naming churn: our field teams learned PlanGrid, then ACC, and now Forma. Autodesk kept the workflows intact through the rebrand, which I appreciate, but every rename costs real time in end-user training and documentation updates.

I really love using Autodesk Forma for its simple interface, which makes project coordination easy. I love that I can have all the tools I need on one platform. It ensures that I am working in real-time on any file, making me more efficient in that aspect. Additionally, I can compare and track issues with others involved, saving us time from searching for information or trying to deduce what changed. It also saves us from chasing to confirm if the problem is understood and executed. The approvals are fantastic: the time for those reviews has been reduced, and they no longer get lost among emails with others. There are some tools I use a lot compared to other modules, and I would like to be able to customize it to keep only what I really use; that way, maybe the price could be lower.

In meetings, when I have several in a row, sometimes it's the same people but with a different topic. It would be very useful if it helped to copy and paste the participants, detecting their names so I don't have to write the user's email one by one, because sometimes there are quite a few people.

Also, in public links for sharing, it would be good to better adjust the time that appears in those links. Moreover, it would be fantastic if the activity indicated if someone downloaded them and from which domain. Today, it can only be seen when shared within Forma, but not when it's public. And if that link is public, it would be nice if, when it expires, it could be reactivated instead of having to create another one, so we don't end up making several and having the links pile up. On-cloud Clash capability with NWC, RVT, and CAD files. Creating the issues from clashes with dot which remembers the viewpoint, section cut properties along with it, and also the capability to tag the additional details like description, person/company to assign the issues to, and status of the issue - open, close, pending, in-review, etc. Dashboard with an overview and the plug-in for Navisworks is very handy and useful, which is real-time. The viewer of ACC can be improved for website and iPad users, providing better navigation capabilities. Markups like circle, cloud, line, arrow were available before on Autodesk viewer which is not there now. Having the markups before creating the issue and then saving that markup while creating the issue would be useful. Once the dot is created for issues, it is tagged to a specific model, and having that capability to change the model tag could be useful, as sometimes, the wrong NWC file/RVT file is tagged and when the individual model is opened, those dots are not available because it was not properly tagged. Creating an issue cannot be reversed from the cloud, and there have been many instances where all the clashes of a file have accidentally been created into one issue, and that causes all the clashes to disappear into one issue. The most helpful aspect of Autodesk Forma is its ability to evaluate design options early using real-time data on factors such as site conditions, sustainability, sunlight, wind, noise, and energy performance, helping teams make better decisions before construction begins. Because it is cloud-based, performance depends on a reliable internet connection, and some users may face a learning curve when adapting to its AI-driven workflows and integrating it with existing BIM processes. Organizations may also need to consider subscription costs, data management practices, and the availability of certain features or integrations based on their Autodesk licensing and project requirements. What I like most about Autodesk Forma is how easy it makes it to explore and compare different design ideas early in a project. What I dislike about Autodesk Forma is that I sometimes feel constrained by the features currently available, especially when I’m trying to do more detailed design or analysis work. Because it’s a newer platform, some workflows don’t feel as flexible or as mature as the software I’m used to. I also often end up switching back and forth between Forma and other Autodesk tools to finish certain tasks, and that context switching can slow my overall workflow down a bit.
