**What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

LS-DYNA's standout strength is its explicit dynamics solver, which excels at simulating extreme, short-duration events like crashes, impacts, and explosions with remarkable accuracy. What makes it truly powerful is its massive parallelization capability — it scales efficiently across hundreds of CPU cores, dramatically cutting down solve times for complex, large-scale models

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

The biggest downside of LS-DYNA is its steep learning curve — it's far from beginner-friendly, and even minor mismatches in card definitions or material parameters can produce completely wrong results without obvious warnings. On top of that, it carries a high licensing cost, making it hard to justify for smaller firms, and much of the advanced knowledge is locked in tribal wisdom among experienced users rather than accessible documentation

**What problems is Ansys LS-DYNA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to solve crash simulations clients designs related to automobile industry 
 .
It's very useful as it works consistently on different designs and configurations

**What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

LS-Dyna is an industry-wide, well-known software for its explicit-domain simulation capabilities, serving industries such as automotive, aerospace, blast and mining, heavy equipment, chemicals, and more. I especially like LS-Dyna’s multiphysics simulation capability, along with the reliability and accuracy of its simulations. It also offers broad support for many element and material types, including options for degradation and failure-propagation behaviors.

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

LS-dyna has wide variety of the material library along with various cards to help stabilizes the solution and achieve the convergence. That also becomes its downside as minute variation or definition mismatch in the cards can results in completely useless results. Unless and until you know how its each parameter works and how to use each card its really difficult to get appropriate results. Its not at all beginner friendly, You can not directly start learning LS-dyna without any prior understanding or training in FEA domain and tools like, ansys, abaqus, nastran or optistruct.

**What problems is Ansys LS-DYNA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Ansys LS-dyna for the virtual simulation and validation of the plastic components used in Automotive and Electrical industries, which saves our cost on physical validation and reduces the cycle time of design validation by implementing multiple iterations in virtual platform. this is huge cost and time saving for our industry.

**What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

I am actively using Ansys LS-DYNA for crashworthiness simulations and impact analysis. It's great for situations when I need to see how materials behave under extreme loads or high-speed conditions. The solver is incredibly robust, handling large deformations and complex contact scenarios without crashing. Additionally, I like the wide range of material models, which gives me options to simulate different mechanical behaviors for composites and metals. The initial setup was easy enough, and installing the solver itself was pretty straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

It takes a while to get comfortable with key word structure and the settings. Very rarely the pre processing can feel a bit clunky too. Better documentation with examples ranging from simple to complex would definitely be of big help. I would like to see more practical tutorials that walk through from start to finish. Besides that I think it would be better if the pre process has better default settings so that I don't have to tweak so many small things to get the stable run.

I use Ansys LS-DYNA for crashworthiness simulations and impact analysis. It helps me understand how a design will hold up in real crash or drop events and test material behavior under extreme loads or high-speed conditions.

**What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

While the Dyna code has evolved, Oasys suite has remained concise and logical to use. It provides Vectayn Ltd the confidence to build stable models and checking prior to submitting the job. Also, it is now easy access to all packages within the suite which provides an all round suite. The Oasys Team listen to our requests and suggestions, incorporating them into next releases. As expectations of analysis have changed, from a bolt on to vehicle programmes to a central process in design development, Oasys Suite has continued to evolve to allow analysts to work efficiently. It is clear that the development team have input from engineers working on live programmes and experiencing what users actually need.

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

No much to be honest. Prices are creeping up and the license term isn't as flexible as once was.

**What problems is Ansys LS-DYNA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The advancements in Reporter to incorporate the legal crash protocols.
Sometimes simple things are most effective. Recently we learnt about Panel positioning in Primer.
Switches for visibility of particles in airbag analyses
The new feature allowing users to state the file size they need when outputting animations will save us time when preparing results for clients

**What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

I have used Mechanical APDL interface of Ansys and LS-Dyna as a solution engine. I could obtain precise results from very difficult non linear dynamic FEA models.

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

I could not find implicit dynamics settings for slow metal forming simulations. I spent really long simulation time for the results from explicit dynamics analysis.

**What problems is Ansys LS-DYNA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I tried to solve mostly roll bending of metal plates into circular geometry, it was impossible without LS-Dyna solver. Because I and other simulation engineers had tried Autodyn and failed

Ansys is a great program for mechanical analysis.Especially meshing and force capabilities is very great and there are a lot of options. Besides, UX is very useful for new users.

Basic modelling tools and material library need to improve

As a engineer I need a lot of mechanical performance calculations.So it would help about to  solving advanced engineering problems

**What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

LS-Prepost which is open source helps you to get used to the software's interface without having a licence and once you have confidence on using one can get a license.

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

The user interface needs to be updated frequently, when compared to the other ansys analysis tools the UI in LS-DYNA looks outdated and sometimes LS-Prepost hangs and the entire work will be gone.

**What problems is Ansys LS-DYNA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ANSYS LS-DYNA is an analysis software which solves physics problems numerically by using the concept of finite elements. It is mostly popular for dynamic problems as it uses explicit solver by default.

Ansys LS-DYNA allows you to simulate and analyse various  complex problems it has easy to use interface with so much detailing wich makes it easier  for the user to do enhanced problems.

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

i couldn't say anything wrong with the software because it was so comforting to use, but the user interface could be much more efficient and simplistic design making it even more comfortable for the user.

Ansys LS-DYNA solves complex crash analysis problems for engineers. It is used to simulate the 3D Model designed for understanding its characteristics which when crashed.

**What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

The best thing about Ls-Dyna as a solver and modeller is that you can use any other CAE modelling software whichever may be available to you or according to your ease. Solver

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

If basic modelling tools can be improved it would be great. I understand that it is meant to be used as a solver but it would encourage students to try it at the very least because there is not a lot of online content available.

**Recommendations to others considering Ansys LS-DYNA:**

One of the best solvers but I would recommend using Hypermesh for modelling purpose from my personal experience. It allows you multiple tools to make your work easier.

**What problems is Ansys LS-DYNA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were working with another team to develop better safety standards for Formula Student vehicles. The idea was to understand and develop an impact attenuator used in Formula Student vehicles.

**What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

I did my final year thesis in Ansys LS-Dyna. Ansys was a user friendly software and every tool was easily accessible. The large variety of analysis tools have us upperhand in our project.

**What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?**

Since I had a very good experience I would say there is nothing really to improve from my point of view. The user interface could be much better when compared to other softwares

**What problems is Ansys LS-DYNA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For my final year thesis I did crash simulation of a bumper it was very helpfull, And that made me productive now, I could easily simulate any crash now using ansys
