## Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) Reviews
  ### 1. Cost-Effective, Seamless Salesforce Attachment with Amazon S3

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harshit S. | Salesforce Developer, Logistics and Supply Chain, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

What I like most about Amazon S3 is how cost-effective and easy it is to use, especially when dealing with large volumes of files. We use it to store all the attachments coming from Salesforce, and it has helped us significantly reduce our storage costs compared to keeping everything within Salesforce.

We had earlier been using S-Drive, but moving to S3 turned out to be a better decision from a cost and flexibility standpoint. The integration with Salesforce has been smooth, and the whole process feels seamless. Uploading files from Salesforce to S3 is straightforward, and users can easily access and download them whenever needed.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

UI can be improved along with the documentation of integrating AWS with other tools like Salesforce

**What problems is Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon S3 is mainly helping us solve the problem of high storage costs in Salesforce. We handle a large number of files and attachments from customers, and storing them all directly in Salesforce was becoming very expensive.

By moving these files to S3, we can store everything in a much more cost-effective way without worrying about hitting storage limits. At the same time, we haven’t compromised on accessibility. Users can still upload files from Salesforce and download them whenever needed, so the overall experience remains smooth.

It has also helped us keep our Salesforce org lighter and more efficient.

  ### 2. Effortless, Reliable Storage That Lets Us Focus on Building Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeevesh T. | Frontend Developer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

we can store and retrieve any amount of data without worrying about infrastructure, and it just works reliably. It saves a lot of time on storage management and lets me focus more on building features rather than handling infrastructure.I use s3 on daily basis for upload , get data.It very easy to integrate only need to have keys.Implementation is also easy aws provides sdk for the same.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

It doesn’t behave like a traditional file system, which can make certain operations (like renaming or updating files) less straightforward.Pricing also get confusing and sometimes unexpectedly high.

**What problems is Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my case, I’m dealing with multiple projects and a huge volume of images and assets (like VR tours, floor plans, SVGs, etc.), so managing storage locally or on a traditional server would be complex and not scalable.

S3 helps me by:

Providing centralized storage for all project assets
Allowing a structured folder system per project
Enabling fast content delivery using CDN (CloudFront)
Supporting automation workflows like image optimization and processing via backend/Lambda

The biggest benefit for me is that I can scale easily as data grows, ensure high availability of assets, and deliver optimized content quickly to users, which directly improves performance of my applications without worrying about storage limitations or infrastructure management.

  ### 3. Versatile Data Lake Storage for Logs, Backups, ETL, and Archival

It eliminates the need to rely on traditional file servers and offers scalable, durable storage for both structured and unstructured data.

  ### 4. Seamless AWS Integration and Robust Security Make S3 a Standout Choice

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Komal W. | Project Manager, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

S3 integrates well with the broader AWS ecosystem, making it easy to connect storage with compute, analytics, and backup workflows. Features such as versioning, lifecycle policies, and storage classes help us manage data efficiently, control costs, and enforce retention requirements. Access control through IAM policies and bucket-level permissions allows us to apply the principle of least privilege across teams and applications.

Security is another major strength from an admin perspective. S3 supports encryption at rest and in transit, detailed access logging, and integration with monitoring and auditing tools. These capabilities help meet institutional security and compliance requirements while maintaining operational flexibility.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

There are some challenges when using S3 at scale. Cost management requires careful monitoring, especially with data egress, request rates, and long-term storage. From an administrative standpoint, misconfigured permissions or overly permissive policies can pose risks if not governed properly, which makes strong internal controls and regular reviews essential.

**What problems is Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem Amazon S3 solves for us is reliable, scalable storage without the need to manage physical infrastructure. As storage requirements grow over time, S3 allows us to scale seamlessly without capacity planning or hardware procurement. Its high durability and availability give confidence that critical data is protected and accessible when needed.

  ### 5. Solid storage but a bit of a maze to set up

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mariusz S. | IT Admin, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

The best part is definitely the reliability. I use it for storing all my team's project files and honestly, it never goes down. Once it's running, you just forget about it and it works. Also, the speed for uploading and downloading big files is much better than other stuff we tried before. It's great that it scales automatically so I don't have to worry about running out of space.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

The interface is just... too much. If you're not a pro, finding specific settings in the console feels like a puzzle. Also the pricing is super confusing. It's hard to predict how much we're gonna pay at the end of the month because of all those extra fees for data transfer and requests. I wish it was more straightforward for a regular user who just wants to store stuff.

**What problems is Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a big problem with keeping our project backups safe and easy to access for everyone in the company. Before AWS, we used some local drives and it was a mess when someone was working from home. Now, everything is in one place in the cloud. It solved our "where is that file" issue and gave us peace of mind that nothing will get lost if a laptop breaks. It just makes collaboration much smoother for a remote team like ours.

  ### 14. Reliable, Scalable Object Storage for all workloads

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luca P. | Chief Operations Officer DEQUA Studio | Formerly CTO in MarTech, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

Amazon S3 delivers a robust object storage platform designed for virtually unlimited scalability and high durability.

The architecture is built around the concept of buckets and objects: buckets act as logical containers, while objects can be any type of file up to 5TB in size, each uniquely identified by a key. S3’s elastic scalability means there’s no need to provision storage in advance; capacity grows or shrinks automatically based on usage.

The durability and availability metrics are industry-leading. S3 is engineered for 99.999999999% (11 nines ) durability and 99.99% availability, with data automatically replicated across multiple geographically separated availability zones within a region. This level of redundancy ensures data integrity and resilience against localized failures.

Security features are comprehensive. S3 supports server-side encryption (SSE-S3, SSE-C, SSE-KMS), bucket and object-level access controls, and integrates with AWS’s broader security suite, including CloudTrail for audit logging and IAM for fine-grained permissions. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit by default.

The API-first design is a major strength. S3 provides REST and SOAP interfaces, making it easy to integrate with custom applications, third-party tools, and other AWS services. Features like versioning, lifecycle management, and event notifications enable sophisticated data governance and automation scenarios.

Storage classes offer cost and performance optimization for diverse workloads. S3 Standard is ideal for frequently accessed data, while Standard-IA, One Zone-IA, Intelligent-Tiering, Glacier, and Glacier Deep Archive address infrequent access, archival, and compliance needs with different pricing and retrieval characteristics. Lifecycle policies can automate transitions between these classes based on rules or object age.

Integration with the AWS ecosystem is seamless. S3 works natively with services like Lambda (for event-driven compute), Athena (for serverless querying), and Redshift Spectrum (for analytics), enabling a unified data lake architecture.

The global infrastructure is extensive, with S3 available in 24 AWS regions, allowing data residency and latency optimization for users worldwide. S3 Outposts extends these capabilities to on-premises environments for hybrid scenarios.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

The pricing model can become complex, especially for organizations with unpredictable access patterns or high data egress. While storage costs are competitive, additional charges for data retrieval, API requests, and cross-region replication can add up quickly if not closely monitored or optimized. Intelligent-Tiering helps automate cost savings, but understanding the nuances of each class is essential to avoid unnecessary expenses.

The user interface in the AWS Management Console, while functional, can feel overwhelming for newcomers due to the breadth of configuration options and nested settings. Navigating permissions, bucket policies, and lifecycle rules requires a solid understanding of AWS’s security model.

For workloads requiring traditional file system semantics (like POSIX compliance or low-latency random access), S3’s object storage paradigm may introduce challenges.
Tools like Amazon Mountpoint bridge this gap, but performance and cost trade-offs must be considered, as S3 operates on whole objects rather than file blocks.

Some advanced features, like cross-region replication or event-driven automation, require additional setup and integration with other AWS services, which can increase operational complexity.

**What problems is Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

S3 has addressed the challenge of scalable, reliable, and secure storage for a wide range of data types and workloads. It provides a single, unified platform for storing everything from application assets and user uploads to analytics datasets, backups, and long-term archives. The pay-as-you-go model eliminates the need for upfront hardware investment and capacity planning, supporting rapid growth and fluctuating demand.

The ability to automate data lifecycle management ensures that storage costs remain optimized over time, with infrequently accessed data seamlessly transitioning to lower-cost tiers. Data protection is enhanced through built-in versioning, replication, and encryption, reducing the risk of data loss or unauthorized access.

Integration with the broader AWS ecosystem enables event-driven processing, real-time analytics, and serverless architectures, supporting modern application patterns without the need for complex infrastructure management.
S3’s global reach and high availability have made it possible to support distributed teams and users, ensuring fast, reliable access to data from anywhere.

The service’s compliance certifications and audit capabilities simplify regulatory requirements for sensitive workloads.

✅ In summary, Amazon S3 has become the backbone for cloud-native storage, offering unmatched scalability, durability, and integration capabilities for organizations of all sizes and industries.

Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) can be used as a centralized data lake. We are working on a web application developement for a client. And the web application performance need to be monitored in real-time by analyzing logs and user events. Logs and events from various sources (web servers, applications, databases) are pushed continuously to S3 bucket by using Amazon Kinesis Data Firehose. On the other hand, S3 event notification triggers an AWS Lambda function everytime new log data is uploaded to S3 bucket. AWS Lambda processes the log data to filter, transform and enrich in real time, such as extracting IP addresses, URLs, reputation, categorizing event types etc. The processed log data and user events are then stored in S3 Glacier for long-term archiving. By using Amazon S3, we have implemented real-time monitoring which benefits both operational insights.

S3 is considered highly relaible and amazon ensures 99.999999999 that is 11 9's durability of whatever objects that are stored in it. S3 provides variety of storage options and we can select those as per our business requirements. The more expensive the storage class is less is the latency and time required for fetch or access the objects.
I used Amazon S3 integrating it with Aws IAM and gitlab. With the help of CI script in gitlab I accessed the object stored in my S3. I have also used S3 in multiple project where need high avaibility. S3 manages this high avaibility by storing copies of data in multiple regions and making it available when one of it is down. According to me S3 is one of the most important service and is widely used by multiple organisations.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)?**

There is nothing significant to dislike aboyt AWS S3, however, writing compressed parquet files takes lesser time than other file formats which restricts the specturm of file types to choose from to work with S3.
