I mostly use the activity log to confirm that my agents are on track and also doing what they are saying. And the ease of installation. **What do you dislike about ActivTrak?** The price gets a bit too high for small businesses (my primary customers) to be able to afford. The free version works great in those cases, except for the limitations to exporting data. **Recommendations to others considering ActivTrak:** The free version can be a great resource to small business owners looking to keep an eye on one or two employees. The biggest feature withheld from the free version is the ability to export data. **What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?** It gives proof of an employee's activity online. Not only what sites they're on and how long they've been on them, but what applications they're using too. Plus the screenshots, I love the screenshots. ### 5. They make it super easy to add new users automatically without human intervention, but no way to cancel or remove users without human intervention and 30 days notice, super sketchy. **Recommendations to others considering ActivTrak:** Stay away and find a less shady business partner **What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?** No benefits. Employees just spent more time trying to beat the system. It breeds an environment of mistrust. Employee turnover increased as we installed the software. ### 6. Even IT guys can't detect that it's there running. It gives great reports on computer usage and you can customize software and websites to what you consider "work-related" and "time wasters". It is an eye opener to see how employee use their time. The screenshots have been essential in documenting an employee's wanton wrongdoing and using it as proof for their dismissal. **What do you dislike about ActivTrak?** Frankly, it is uncomfortable to me that you can spy on employees to this degree. While we tell employees that all computer usage and traffic is monitored I don't think they understand the level of spying that ActivTrak gives management. It is essentially the same as having management looking over their shoulder 24/7. **Recommendations to others considering ActivTrak:** The software is super easy to install but don't lose the installer or you'll never be able to remove it. You can rename the installer something like dotnet-update.exe and users won't even know what you're installing. **What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use ActivTrak primarily to know percentage of the day employees are productive vs. wasting time. However, we've used the screenshot trail to investigate accusations of wrongdoing too. ### 30. With ActivTrak, we had the perfect balance of being able to track our employees actions through out the day, without digging into their personal lives, as we can have ActivTrak disable its self outside of office hours. Ultimately we liked the fact that we could hold our employees accountable without invading their privacy. **What do you dislike about ActivTrak?** That I can not classify websites that have received less than 5 minutes of usage. I think the 5 minute threshold should be lowered, as I now have hundreds of sites that I can't classify in my database. **Recommendations to others considering ActivTrak:** Check out the trial. The trial is ultimately what sold me on the product, as I was quickly able to see it included everything that I needed to properly manage my employees both in house and remotely.
