## About Action1
Action1 is an autonomous endpoint management platform trusted by many Fortune 500 companies. Cloud-native, infinitely scalable, highly secure, and configurable in 5 minutes—it just works and is always free for the first 200 endpoints, with no functional limits. By pioneering autonomous OS and third-party patching with peer-to-peer patch distribution and real-time vulnerability assessment without needing a VPN, it eliminates routine labor, preempts ransomware and security risks, and protects the digital employee experience. In 2025, Action1 was recognized by Inc. 5000 as the fastest-growing private software company in America. The company is founder-led by Alex Vovk and Mike Walters, American entrepreneurs who previously founded Netwrix, a multi-billion-dollar cybersecurity company.

  ### 1. Action1 -Streamlined OS and Third-Party Patch Automation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I use Action1 to rapidly inventory Windows endpoints, identify high-risk and critical vulnerabilities, and automate staged patch deployment for both OS and third-party software. I value Action1 for its rapid cloud onboarding, risk-based Windows patching, and powerful remote remediation tools that reduce MTTR and simplify compliance. It allows my team to run remote remediation scripts, validate fixes, and reduce compliance reports without on-prem infrastructure, which speeds response and reduces operational overhead. With Action1, the initial setup is generally fast and straightforward for Windows environments, enabling endpoint inventory and patching to begin in minutes using lightweight agent deployment.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Action1 handles Windows patching and remediation very well, but mixed-OS environments can be challenging because native macOS and Linux coverage is limited. Integrating deeper, bi-directional PSA/ITSM connectors would streamline enterprise workflows and reduce manual ticketing overhead. Finally, stronger rollback/versioning and more granular canary controls would further reduce risk when deploying patches to legacy or critical systems.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Action1 to rapidly inventory Windows endpoints, identify vulnerabilities, and automate patch deployment. It enables remote remediation, validates fixes, reduces operational overhead, speeds IR response, and simplifies compliance without on-premise infrastructure.

  ### 2. Intuitive Layout Makes Everything Effortless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Action1?**

The layout. Everything is intuitive. Approving updates is easy, the scheduling is easy to do. I can have my computers reboot on a schedule after the updates are applied so they can get the next round of updates and move on. I haven't played with the scripting much because I manually set up each computer before installing Action1. I use Action1 for patch management. Organizing the computers into groups is easy. It's very fun to use.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

I tried to script something and it failed without good information to troubleshoot. It's not that big of a deal but since the first 200 computers are completely free, I can get support if I needed. I can't think of a single feature that I don't like.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have to worry about issuing Microsoft Updates as much anymore. I have my computers run an automation so they download and install patches after hours. No more updating in the middle of the day and impacting the rest of the organization.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

I don't have any negative feed back about Action1.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work for a small MSP with different technology in place. We don't have a large budget for expensive RMM tools, so we are using Action1 for free up to 200 endpoints to manage patching and software updates.

  ### 5. Intuitive UI, But Sync Issues with Vulnerability Detection

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I use Action1 for asset and patch management. I find Action1 valuable because it provides an all-in-one portal where I can view all detected vulnerabilities on my endpoints and track all updates needed, which helps me stay current with my cybersecurity practices. I really like that the user interface is very clean and easy to use. I appreciate anything that's easy to operate in this field, especially for asset and patch management, and the vulnerability detection is great. The initial setup was relatively easy.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Vulnerability detection does not sync correctly with Tenable, Action1 can miss vulnerabilities or updates in the scans sometimes if the registry key is being checked in the wrong place.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1 provides an all-in-one portal for viewing detected vulnerabilities and needed updates on my endpoints, helping keep my cybersecurity practices up to date.

  ### 6. Effortless Device Management, Incredible Value

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I use Action1 to manage the computers at my work. It makes it so much easier to manage updates and unify devices. I really like that it's free for up to 200 endpoints, making it fully free for me. I appreciate the ability to run scripts, monitor progress, and quickly deploy the agent to new devices. The initial setup was very easy; I just clicked it into my GPO and it worked in about 10 minutes.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Mainly it feels clunky to add custom software. If it was more streamlined and got info from the uploaded exe/msi.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Action1 to manage work computers. It streamlines updates, unifies devices, and lets me run scripts, monitor progress, and quickly deploy to new devices. Plus, it's free for up to 200 endpoints.

  ### 7. Effortless Patch Management, Needs Stronger Alerts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris T. | Infrastructure Engineer (Client: Gelato Messina), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account added to their profile

**Incentivized:** This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I find Action1 incredibly easy to use and user-friendly. It's very easy to set up automations and manage patches, which makes the process smooth and efficient. The initial setup of Action1 was very easy, especially since I have used it briefly before. This ease of use makes it a tool I would rate a 10 out of 10 for recommending to a friend or colleague.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

The alerts in Action1 are not as strong as I'd like. I would prefer to create custom alerts rather than rely on pre-scripted ones.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Action1 for automated patch management. It's easy to set up automations and manage patches, making it user-friendly.

  ### 8. VPN-Free Management Revolutionizes Remote Patching

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** United S.

**Validated Reviewer:** This review contains authentic analysis and has been reviewed by our team

**Incentivized:** This reviewer was offered a nominal gift card as thank you for completing this review.

**Source: G2 invite:** Invitation from G2. This reviewer was offered a nominal gift card as thank you for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I like how Action1 manages automated patch management for both OS and third-party applications without requiring VPN or on-prem hardware. Its peer-to-peer distribution and offline sync make sure even remote devices get updates once reconnected, and it can manage endpoints over the public internet using a lightweight agent. The initial setup of Action1 was relatively simple and convenient.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

I found that Action1 has limited cross-platform support, with a Windows-centric bias. It would be better if there was native support for macOS, Linux servers, and mobile devices like iOS and Android. This would allow the same patch management, vulnerability scanning, and remote access features available for Windows. Also, extending legacy Windows support for compliance-critical use cases would be beneficial.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1’s peer-to-peer distribution and offline sync ensure remote devices get updates. It manages endpoints over the public internet without needing a VPN or on-prem hardware, eliminating workflow friction and vulnerabilities.

  ### 9. Quick Management of Endpoints, but Reports Need Improvement

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I feel that using a script to process multiple devices at once is very effective in advancing the program update work.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

When moving files via remote desktop, currently it is necessary to go through shared folders, which feels cumbersome. I would like to be able to interact directly using copy & paste or drag & drop.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the ability to centrally manage a large number of devices, internal support has become much easier.

At G2, we prefer fresh reviews and we like to follow up with reviewers. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

Ease to install and management a lot of end points. Action1 is so powerful and completely free to use full function up to 200 end points.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

The remote access without instant chat box, while remoting end point, cannot communicate with user. Also, it is not very support to MacOS.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No more schedule with user for most of the patch or core software installation. Save a lot of time and money. Since Action1 so powerful, we can do something within our development team to do some pop up alert to all users.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

Schedule updates according to your preferences

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

If I click on an endpoint category and select several endpoints, and then go to another endpoint category and select an endpoint (pc) to delete it, I have to be very careful because it also deletes the endpoints of the other category

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast Full Inventory
Installation App have never been so easy and fast
Planning Updates
Fast Windows Licensing
Uninstalling Apps

  ### 13. Don't sleep on this gem!

**What do you like best about Action1?**

The third-party patching and vulnerability management are pretty good. I've used Qualys, Automate and Kaseya, so I have a bit of comparative experience.
Detection is precise, and deployments are reliable. After 26 years in tech, I’ve tried many RMM tools that are 2-3 times pricier but don’t perform any better.
The interface is easy to use for any level of sysadmin. The custom automation feature is pretty good if you can script even a little.
Rolling it out is easy, with a ton of options to suite whomever.
The reporting meets the needs of C-Suite type reports.
It's very set it and forget it which I like.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Built-in automations are limited, so get learning to script a little better than you do!
The alerting system also feels underdeveloped and could use enhancement. These aren’t dealbreakers, but they show that the platform is still maturing.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have machines that are used by end-users, as well as VMs that spin up and down, and knowing the patching is sorted is an ease of admin that is great.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I like the simplicity of using Action1. Additionally, I really appreciate the vulnerability control on all workstations. The initial setup was much simpler compared to other software that required a lot of effort.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

After performing the update on a workstation, the dashboard does not update in real-time. The display of the dashboard should be more timely.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Action1 to monitor all network stations and update them quickly without moving. I find that the ease of use and the vulnerability control on all stations are particularly advantageous.

The setup was very easy due to the admin-friendly operation.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I appreciate its automation features and how easy it is to deploy.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Our biggest and most immediate issue is that the remote feature is extremely slow. The input lag is terrible, and it makes using the remote frustrating.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vulnerability mitigation while keeping all of our systems up to date.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I really appreciate the connection and engagement with the community when using Action1, and I'd like to give a special shout-out to Gene for that. The remote access feature is basic but gets the job done when needed, and I find the script library quite useful. Deploying custom scripts using Action1 saves a lot of time for me. I also found the initial setup to be very easy with the GPO deployment method.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

I find that the remote access feature of Action1 could be improved in terms of speed. If it performed better, it might replace other alternatives like ScreenConnect.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1 provides a central portal for managing all patching and updates. Deploying custom scripts saves a lot of time, and while basic, the remote access functionality works when needed.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

The best MDM with free features.

I like the remote screen share feature a lot because our clients haven't been able to remediate some issues, so we used this feature and remediated the vulnerabilities.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

we are missing the remote wipe feature.

For example, if any employee loses their laptop, we want to wipe the entire laptop's details so no data will be lost/theft

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1 helps us easily manage and monitor all our endpoints from one place. It saves time by allowing remote software updates, patching, and troubleshooting without needing to access each device manually. The automation features reduce routine IT work and improve overall security. It also helps us quickly respond to vulnerabilities and keep systems compliant. The cloud-based dashboard is simple to use and gives a clear view of device health. Overall, it makes endpoint management faster, easier, and more reliable.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

Action1 stands out for its effortless 5-minute setup, dependable automated patching for both the OS and third-party applications, and a cloud-native architecture that doesn’t require a VPN. I also appreciate the built-in remote desktop, and many users place real value on the generous free tier covering the first 200 endpoints.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

While it works excellently on Windows, the Mac and Linux support still feels less mature by comparison. It also doesn’t include mobile device management (MDM) for smartphones, and the reporting tools could go further by offering deeper, more granular customization—especially for highly complex enterprise environments.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps safeguard sensitive client financial models and critical debt syndication data. Action1 completely eliminates the headache of manual security updates. By automating OS and third-party patching across our devices, we stay secure without sacrificing valuable consulting hours. It gives real peace of mind.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

The patching process is the strong point of Action1. You can plan, deploy and automate as well as document every issues that cannot be fixed by any patch (no longer supported software,...)

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

The remote desktop feature is basic. You can remote connect and do some stuff but it is a far cry from dedicated software such as teamviewer, anydesk and co.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automation and patching. When you have multiple endpoints to manage, it is a time-saver software. The possibility to add custom scripts to further improve the automation makes it a powerful tool.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

This platform is very straightforward and doesn't try to be everything—it focuses solely on patch management and does it well. There are no real barriers to entry; it's easy to implement and features a robust API, which makes integrating it with other tools in my stack simple.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

I understand the reasoning behind making it cloud-based, but for organizations with very strict network policies, or even for government use, I believe Action 1 should consider offering a self-hosted option in the future. Additionally, I find the user interface can be somewhat confusing at times.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves me time when it comes to patch management for my small business, especially since we lack manpower.

It acts as a single point where I can patch and resolve potential issues, allowing me to make several security-minded decisions in one spot. The ability to manage a customer nearly from tip to tail stands out to me. Additionally, I found the initial setup to be very easy.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

I have had machines go offline and not come back online despite them being turned on. I tried to access a Mac but was not able to.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1 is my single point for patching and resolving issues, allowing me to make several security decisions in one place.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

I really find Action1 fast, especially compared to waiting for Intune, and that's a big plus for me. Running scripts remotely is another aspect I appreciate; the potential it offers to manage an endpoint is significant. The initial setup of Action1 was very easy—just create an account and install an agent. Simple.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

It doesn't give a lot of information when updates fail. I can't figure out the reasons when there happens to be delays.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Action1 for updates, software installs, remote access, vulnerability scans, and inventory. It solves limited access issues and handles regular automation.

I find Action1 to be a very robust system that is straightforward to use, which is great for a small non-profit like ours. The cost is right for us, making it even more appealing. The initial setup was very easy, which really helped us transition smoothly when we moved to a serverless infrastructure and needed a cloud-based solution.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

I would love to see a community platform where people can readily share scripts/projects/usage of data sources in the system.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1 helps me with patching machines, connecting to remote devices, interacting with UAC prompts, and managing assets.

At G2, we prefer fresh reviews and we like to follow up with reviewers. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

The platform not only allows me to automate patch management, but also provides valuable insight into what is happening with my devices. The fact that it is free for up to 200 devices makes it ideal for my small, independent school.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

As I am using it for not a long time, I cannot find anything yet, maybe except failing to deploy new software through the platform. So fat, it didn't work in most cases and I would love to kow why.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1 solves my biggest time consumer - patch management. IT would take me ages and physical presence to first check, what needs patching, then swithc the devices on and finally pushing patches to all of them. Now, with automation scheduled and timeout set to a couple of days I know the patches will be applied even to laptops.

The patch management automation saves a lot of time, vulnerability reporting is easy and fast, as well as remediation. The UI is great to use
It also doesnt interfere with existing solutions we already use in House

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

The only dislikeable thing is that it is solely cloud based, but at least you can choose to use an EU based for it

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having deatiled reports about vulnerabilities from our whole inventory, always ready, accurate and easily available.

Updating Software with basically no interaction

Not having to worry about so many CVEs, because they have a self maintained CVE List

  ### 39. Patching Endpoints Made Easy: My Hands-On Experience with Action1

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon F. | Technology Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through Google using a business email account

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Action1?**

What I find most helpful about Action1 is that the first 200 endpoints are free. As the Technology Director for a small nonprofit private school, I have to be very mindful of our budget. I was specifically searching for a free solution for patching computers, and that's when I discovered Action1. Since I manage fewer than 150 devices, the platform is completely free for my needs and I use it daily, whether it's patching endpoints, upgrading devices to Windows 11, or using the remote desktop feature. Setting it up was also very straightforward—I was able to deploy the agent to all my devices using Group Policy. For small organizations like mine, Action1 has truly been a lifesaver.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Although I don't have many macOS devices in my network, I do have a few, and while I can use Action1 to patch my Macs, I find it less robust compared to patching my Windows machines. The remote desktop feature does function, but its capabilities are quite limited. For example, I can't transfer files from my computer to the target device through Action1, so I have to rely on another program for that task. Additionally, if the target device uses a second monitor, I can't simply scroll between screens; instead, I have to click a button to switch views. One more issue is that Action1 logs me out more frequently and sooner than I would prefer.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1 is helping me patch my computers on my network as they were extremely far behind on updates. It's also assisting me with moving my Windows 10 devices to Windows 11. Since I have less than 200 endpoints, all of this is being done for free so its also helping me save money. Lastly, being able to do all of this remotely has been a huge help. I'm a one man team so touching every device is time consuming. Action1 allows me to save some walking and do it from my office without breaking a sweat.

**Official Response from Kimberly Gonzales:**

> Hi Brandon,

We're happy to hear that Action1 has been instrumental in helping you patch your computers and upgrade your Windows devices. We appreciate your feedback about the limitations you've experienced with patching macOS devices and the remote desktop feature. We're continuously working to improve our platform, and your input will be taken into consideration as we strive to enhance the user experience for all our customers.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

For me there are 3 strong points that make Action1 particularly attractive:
- Simplicity: Onboarding devices is incredibly simple, either single devices or Active Directory bulk can be done in minutes
- Easy to use: Everything you need is laid out in clear visualisations and dashboards, vulnerabilities/missing updates etc
- Powerful: The scheduled tasks, scripting, and modularity aspects makes it easy to extend the existing functionality specific to your needs

All features are available for free forever for the first 200 endpoints.
Any features that you need you can request to be put on the public backlog, which they are actively working on, e.g. recent addition of Mac support is a big plus.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Lacking some of the more advanced/fine-grain features that products like Intune offer. Most likely can achieve somewhat similar results through the scripting aspects though.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Almost all of our endpoints are remote, Action1 is cloud-based allowing us to manage our devices remotely.
- Cost saving
- Automated patching/scheduled reporting of our environment

**Official Response from Kimberly Gonzales:**

> Hi Ben,

Thank you for your review! We're thrilled to hear that you find Action1 simple, easy to use, and powerful. Our goal is to provide a user-friendly experience with robust functionality. We appreciate your feedback and are continuously working to add more features.

  ### 47. Does with near zero footprint what a massive and outdated WSUS eco system does, only better!

**What do you like best about Action1?**

I am impressed by how Action One, with its lightweight agent, is able to handle all software updates—from the operating system to Adobe, drivers, and even VMware tools. On top of that, it also provides remote control and remote reboot capabilities, all within such a streamlined package. The operational overhead for this is almost zero. Implementation is a breeze so long as one keeps the customised install binary at hand. Customer support: i cannot judge this as the product thus far never required any support. I used this product every day and due to use having complex interdependencies a value the ability to mix and match automation and manual selection.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Honestly, i cannot think of any downsides. WSUS no longer is an option for us and other products are just as bloated or unwieldy.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Action1 takes the headache out of Patch management because for us both automation and manual selection are equally important. We manage endpoints spread over a vast area, some literally out of reach, physically.

At G2, we prefer fresh reviews and we like to follow up with reviewers. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

Its very user friendly and the simple interface makes life easier. The best features i like are that is a very quick and easy to remote access a device and to literally check the A-Z of a device, from updates to installed software and vulnerabilities.

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Sometimes the reports dont turn out the way i like them. I need to play about with it more to get the result i am after.

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were looking for a solution to solve patching and help with remote desktop. As we are a charity, we did not have the budget for high priced solutions. Action1 has saveed us money and provided a good solution

**Official Response from Kimberly Gonzales:**

> Hi Usman,

We're glad to hear that you find Action1 user-friendly and that it has been beneficial for your organization's budget. We appreciate your feedback about the reports and will take it into consideration for future improvements.

**What do you like best about Action1?**

Great selection of software to update, it's granular so you can choose what gets updated when. Also like how easy it is to use, appreciate the 200 free device count as a business startup

**What do you dislike about Action1?**

Found it tricky at times to manually add software to update however still easier to manage than intune

**What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a startup it's helping me use enterprise level patching without breaking the bank and having to worry about committing to a system at a pre-revenue phase.
