HeyGen is good for creating a digital twin. The avatar likeness and voice cloning are strong, and that is where the product works best for me. If you need a realistic on-camera version of yourself without filming every video, it does that job well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I used HeyGen and its free HyperFrames for faceless YouTube creation. It is supposed to be simple to use with an agent, but the UI changes constantly and the avatar results add unnecessary gestures. I lost count of how many times I had to reconnect HyperFrames, and it took hours to generate a simple motion graphic. The output often had crooked line charts and graphs that I could not use. For programmatic motion graphics, an open-source option like Remotion (remotion-dev/remotion on GitHub) run through Claude Code is free, takes a fraction of the time, and is much faster to edit.
