# What are the best strategic planning software for large organizations aligning teams around annual goals?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Aligning a small team around annual goals takes a meeting and a shared document. Doing it across a large organization, with dozens of departments each interpreting the strategy differently, needs software built for that translation. We compared the best strategic planning software for large organizations, using the <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/strategic-planning-and-execution">Strategic Planning and Execution category</a>.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">These platforms come up most for this scale:</p><ul>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/cascade-strategy-cascade/reviews"><strong>Cascade</strong></a>: The highest-rated platform here, reviewers cite cascading goal visibility, letting leadership see how department-level plans connect back to the annual strategy.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/workboard/reviews"><strong>WorkBoard</strong></a>: Reviewers in large enterprises cite OKR alignment tools that keep individual team goals traceable back to company-wide objectives.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/achieveit/reviews"><strong>AchieveIt</strong></a>: Reviewers cite strong plan tracking and accountability reporting, useful for organizations that need to show progress to a board or executive committee.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/workfront/reviews"><strong>Workfront</strong></a>: A much larger review base, but reviewers position it more as an enterprise work management tool than as a strategic planning specialist.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/bsc-designer/reviews"><strong>BSC Designer</strong></a>: Reviewers cite balanced scorecard methodology specifically, a narrower fit for organizations already using that framework.</li>
</ul><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">For organizations running annual planning across more than a dozen departments, has cascading actually kept department goals aligned through the year, or does drift creep back in by Q3?</p>

&lt;p&gt;I’d expect the real test to be how often teams revisit and update goals after annual planning. If cascading only works at launch but departments stop reconciling changes through the year, alignment can still drift pretty quickly.&lt;/p&gt;
