Gini is a Munich-based AI company that turns invoices, bills, and other documents into ready-to-use payment data inside banking, insurance, and finance apps. Its flagship product, Gini Pay Photo Payment (known in Germany as "Fotoüberweisung"), lets people pay an invoice by taking a photo or sharing a PDF, screenshot, or QR code with their banking app. Gini's AI extracts the recipient, IBAN, amount, and payment reference and pre-fills the bank transfer in about 1.7 seconds.
Gini powers photo payment in more than 90% of Germany's top retail banks, including Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, Sparkasse, DKB, comdirect, Consorsbank and the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken, as well as UniCredit Bank Austria. In 2025, 7.2 million monthly active users scanned and paid more than 194 million documents with Gini, with 98%+ extraction accuracy.
Gini products:
- Gini Pay Photo Payment (SDK + API): pay simply ginious any file by taking a photo, PDF, screenshot, and many QR payment codes (EPC, Giro, SPC, SPD, UPC, ...) for iOS and Android banking apps, with useful extensions like Return Assistant, Cash Discount Calculator, and 9 supported document languages.
- Gini Pay Cross-Border Module (SDK + API): photo payment for international SWIFT transfers. From a photo, PDF, or screenshot of a foreign invoice, Gini extracts 20+ payment fields, including recipient address, IBAN or account number, BIC, and 14 country-specific routing codes (ABA, Sort Code, CNAPS, IFSC, ...), and pre-fills the transfer form. The Bank SDK adds a full UX module and AI-supported validation before submission and ISO 20022 (pain.001) output.
- Gini Pay Connect: lets health insurance and other third-party apps capture any invoice document and hand it over to the user's banking app to pay seamlessly.
- SEPA Request-to-Pay: pushes payment requests directly into the customer's banking app, for e-commerce and billing.
- Gini Smart OCR+: AI-based OCR and data extraction for more than 50 invoice fields, including e-invoices (XRechnung, ZUGFeRD), for accounting, expense, and ERP software.
- Mobile Capture and Smart Claims Folder: in-app scanning of medical bills, receipts, and claim documents for insurers.
