It is not particularly suited for purposes like programming one off cabinet designs or 3 axis machining; instead it seems focused on high volume production runs. **What problems is VisualCAM solving and how is that benefiting you?** It possesses all the functionalities to manage CNC machines without incurring excessive costs. This is advantageous, for my business as it enables us to improve our manufacturing capabilities without straining our finances. ### 2. I need to mention that because they seems to work hardly on it. So clear solutions and you probably learn so fast. They gave you a jump start for sure. Program is user friendly and fully suitable with SolidWorks. I used 2018 version and it was great. It works very fast if you compare with other add-ons to SolidWorks. **What do you dislike about VisualCAM?** They're no so many users around. If you have a problem you probably talked with MecSoft. **Recommendations to others considering VisualCAM:** My experience was pretty good. As a user of SolidWorks, that wasn't hard to learn. I can reccomend it. I don't know about price but user interface was very useful for first time users. I'm pretty sure that advanced users are feeling comfortable too. **What problems is VisualCAM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Students came to our firm to teach free. Just showed how it works in 3 days. ### 4. In Turkey we used a demo from Desita ( distributor in Turkey ). We found quite helpful tutorials on internet especially on youtube. MecSoftCorporation works really great. You should check their channel if you want to jump start! I need to add that program is easy to use. **What do you dislike about VisualCAM?** Company works great but user amount is less. If your problem still continues after watching videos you need to call them. But they're helping for sure. (Tested in Turkey :) ) **Recommendations to others considering VisualCAM:** Price is not expensive. Finding tutorial is easy but users are less. Program fully integrated with SolidWorks (2011 to 2019) and SolidWorks gave them Gold Certificate. **What problems is VisualCAM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Worked on project at University. ### 5. The nesting module was given away for free in an update a few years ago. There is very little learning curve, as features are straightforward and consistent. Software is not overly complex. Knowledge based machining is a very handy feature, allowing you to reuse common cutting strategies. Using knowledge bases, toolpath geometry can be automatically assigned by layer, color, or type, which can reduce programming time. Customer support is helpful and timely. **What do you dislike about VisualCAM?** Program is very buggy. Crashes are all too common when posting code or modifying geometry. Network license is lost very frequently. CAD features are clunky at best, and cause the program to crash without warning at worst. Some features seem to work intermittently (trim and extend are hit or miss for me). Screen picks must be very precise, which can slow the user down quite a bit. The nesting module is useless for all but the simplest of jobs. Feature recognition only works for solid models, and gives mixed results. **Recommendations to others considering VisualCAM:** If you value low cost, ease of use, and good customer support over advanced features, automation, and lack of frustration, VisualCAM is a good choice for you. My company has used VisualCAM for many years to program one-off cabinet designs utilizing mostly 2.5 axis toolpaths. The program is ill-fitted for our use, but the low cost keeps us coming back. This CAM software is best suited for high-volume production runs or 3 axis machining. **What problems is VisualCAM solving and how is that benefiting you?** VisualCAM gives my company a cost effective way to generate programs for our CNC router. With CNC technology, we are able to produce complex cabinet designs quickly and accurately.
