## TutorTrac Reviews
  ### 1. Very bad software

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2022

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

I like best how using this software presents new problems every week. It gives me something to complain about with my coworkers. Commiserating about new bugs can really bring people together.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

This software is constantly causing problems with various bugs. For example:
(1) Clients scheduling overlapping appointments
(2) Clients having appointments with negative time
(3) Walk-in appointments not being recorded in the system
(4) Reduplicated information in clients' profiles (e.g. the client has the same class listed two, three, or more times as different classes)
(5) Appointments can have an end time that occurs before their start time, meaning they can also have a negative duration.
(6) Appointments can have a duration exceeding 24 hours.
(7) Service frequently (at least once per week) stops working altogether.
(8) Routine failure to send out client reports (appt notes) to the student and their professor.
The list goes on.

In addition to these many bugs, the UI has serious problems. These include:
(1) Using a 24-hour clock or 12-hour clock depending on where you look in the software.
(2) Inconsistently displaying the duration of appointments in decimals of an hour or in minutes.
(3) Displaying appointments from different schedules on the same schedule.
(4) This might be the biggest one: displaying available appointments to clients as a giant list instead of as a calendar.
(5) Tabbing through fields while doing data entry sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't.
(6) Searching by a client's full name doesn't work. It doesn't search for middle names at all.
(7) There's no easy way to edit walk-in appointments after they've been saved.
Again, I could add a dozen or more items to this list.

This is easily one of the worst pieces of software I have ever used. It's embarrassing to constantly be explaining to our clients (the students at our school) why the software isn't working.

**Recommendations to others considering TutorTrac:**

Dissolve your firm and either change careers or go to school for education in software development.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TutorTrac is a worse alternative to the software we previously used for scheduling tutoring appointments. I have realized the benefits of our previous software and really appreciate what we've lost.

  ### 2. A decent tracking system and calender misisng a few tweaks.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

Calendars are easy to use and edit. There are sections for appointments, profiles, reports, tracking, etc.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

It lags frequently. Frequent bugs. Lack of color classifications (customizations) for calendars. Mobile layout isn't the best. Report generator could have explanations and less confusing. Needs a more modern design.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is the basis of my work - used daily to track workers and students. Reports are useful.

  ### 3. Easy to maintain and expand!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2019

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

There is a lot of flexibility with things like authentication, center setup and user/course feed file setup. The product is very low maintenance and support for the product is prompt and useful. The product integrates will with our Starfish instance as there is an add-on that allows us to export data into Starfish. This has been very helpful in running both systems in parity.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

The aesthetics of the product could use an update as it's a little behind with how the menu's operate but overall it's still very usable. Readability in the logs for troubleshooting purposes could also be improved a little bit.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our math and writing center uses this product for setting up tutoring sessions alongside Starfish and we've found that Tutortrac better handles the situation where one tutor allows students to drop in without an appointment and be tutored in a group environment as Starfish is unable to handle that particular scenario.

  ### 4. Simplified Scheduling

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2019

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

Simplified scheduling as opposed to having students contact individual staff members to set up appointments or routing everything through a front desk. Since it's added to student's outlook calendar (often integrated with their phone) many of them receive a reminder, and we have fewer no-shows.

One-way integration with outlook allows tutortrac appointments to appear on outlook calendars nearly instantaneously.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

*only* one way integration with outlook. For professional staff members who use outlook for other types of meetings, it does not block/remove tutortrac availability if another outlook meeting conflicts. The staff member needs to closely monitor their calendar to avoid double-booking

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lessened workload for staff. Front desk is no longer bogged down with scheduling appointments which frees up time for other projects

More convenient scheduling for students - they can make an appointment online at any time, rather than waiting until business hours to call or talk to the front desk staff.

  ### 5. Difficult to make edits, backdate and correct mistakes

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ruth L. | Manager of Development, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2019

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

I like the grid design to enter my hours and learning objectives

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

The software made it difficult to backdate and edit. It was also difficult to register students and classes, specially if the students didn’t belong to my class section specifically.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking attendance and overall performance of student groups por historically difficult courses.

  ### 6. User Friendly, Basic Scheduling App

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kellyn M. | Peer Mentor, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2018

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

After scheduling your first few appointments in TutorTrac, it becomes fairly natural. I love that you (as the counselor, advisor, mentor, supervisor, etc) can schedule 1:1 appointments, schedule open/walk-in availability, block out time you are unavailable, and schedule group appointments. I also love that you can subscribe to text reminders for your appointments, which I usually get the night before the appointment(s) and when you schedule/cancel/change appointments - you also automatically get them via email. The people meeting with you (be it people you counsel, advise, mentor, supervise, etc) can also subscribe to those text messages. I like that it tells you when someone has checked-in at the lobby, so you don't have to keep "poking your head out" looking for your meeting, and it keeps a record of those sign-ins.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

I wish there was a way to interact with the people you meet with within the app - a way to send them and for them to send you announcements, documents/attachments, or messages - without having to include it in the little blurb when you schedule the appointment. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing, I think there could be a lot done to upgrade the appearance of the site. I also wish there was a way for us, as the "schedulers" (I serve as a mentor) to host a homepage for our (mentees) to visit and interact with, and a way for us to view the portal as a (mentee) rather than a (mentor).

**Recommendations to others considering TutorTrac:**

Make sure that you and the people you are scheduling appointments with subscribe to text message reminders for your meetings, and require they arrive 5 - 15 minutes before the meeting begins so they have time to check in.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to schedule appointments for the University Center of Academic Excellence.

  ### 7. Good for college

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2019

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

Simple to schedule appointments and categorize everything with different subjects. Made it easier than having to write everything down.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

It can be glitchy. Had times where an appointment was scheduled on one end and never showed up on our end.

**Recommendations to others considering TutorTrac:**

After a couple uses it becomes very simple to use.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used it to schedule appts at Hood College

  ### 8. Gets the job done

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa W. | Marketing Coordinator, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

Allows tutees to make appointments, sends email notifications, does what it needs to.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

It's not very pretty, the code system is weird, it can be finicky, it's not the most user-friendly.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our students are able to make appointments online. It's fairly hassle-free.

  ### 9. Manage your students, manage your tutors with simple software

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chelsea K. | Regional Director of Development, Western Region, College of Literature, Science and the Arts, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2018

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

Decent software system to use to manage student appointments for a variety of tutors. Works well with banner and education management systems.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

Can be clunky, difficult to use at times. Software seems somewhat out of date; however, it does the job needed. Can have glitches that cannot be solved by house IT. If system goes down, paper is usually the only backup that can used in place of tutortrac which is not ideal.

**Recommendations to others considering TutorTrac:**

If you have a good amount of tutors, you need a software system to manage. Good for systems of higher education because it is able to pull information from banner instead of having to continuously look up student information. Shows number of missed appointments and reminds students about upcoming--however, when it has a glitch the whole system gets thrown off track and it is hard to have IT fix the problem.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps not only manages students but also tutors--gives a good snapshot of availability. Helps with appointment reminders for individual and group appointments. Keeps track of tutoring lessons; grades can be pulled from other systems to help tutors/.

  ### 10. Easy to autogenerate reports

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samantha O. | Academic Advisor, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2018

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

We have often used it to maintain monthly payroll reports, and keep track of various appointments, inter departmental events, and managing the students in general. It is very easy to use, customize and has great notification features! I love that you can set up the notifications to be sent on your phone or even link your emails. It is also easy to manage group profiles on it and keep track of weekly schedules.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

Does not work well on chrome or edge. I often have to use it on Firefox. It also takes a lot of time to load and actually generate the reports.
It also crashes sometimes.

**Recommendations to others considering TutorTrac:**

highly recommend tutoring management organizations and universities to incorporate this into their workforce.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped us in keeping track of the appointments and manage the student-employees working for us. Good tool to manage the reports, payroll, and events. Overall, it is a great tool for the education management field.

  ### 11. Scheduling Employee Tutoring

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Relations and Communications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2018

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

Tutortrac really helps us organize one on one employee trainings for our interns, assistants and new software developers and testers. This way we pair up older and more experienced employees with newer ones so that we propagate skills and help each other gain new knowledge.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

TutorTrac's GUI is a bit outdated. It could be improved and made more user-friendly.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use tutortrac for scheduling tutors, employee training, and to keep track of who has sessions with who.

  ### 12. scheduling tutors

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about TutorTrac?**

Its a great tool to schedule tutors, so they get updates on their scheduled tutor timings.

**What do you dislike about TutorTrac?**

It needs to be a little more user friendly. It took me a while to get used to the interface.

**Recommendations to others considering TutorTrac:**

A few more tutorials within the software will make it easier for the users to get familiar with it.

**What problems is TutorTrac solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using it to schedule tutors and keep track of their timings.
