Not intuitive a lot of the time. Feels old and clunky. **What problems is The EDGE solving and how is that benefiting you?** Use it for inventory management. ### 2. No more digitizer, no more paper plans! **What do you dislike about The EDGE?** Some of the search features within the program could be more intuitive. The built in help feature leaves a lot to be desired for new users. **Recommendations to others considering The EDGE:** Definitely use patience, run dual estimates for a while to find the discrepancies. We found the system works perfectly, and mistakes are usually in due to input error. Be intentional about building an accurate database of products and lookups. This will streamline your project handover process from estimating to operations. It takes longer on the front end, but saves so much time and mistakes later in the process. **What problems is The EDGE solving and how is that benefiting you?** Standardizing our estimates across the company gets the estimating and operations department on the same page. Project handovers are more accurate and less time consuming, leading to few mistakes on the operations side. ### 3. Once you have a general understanding of the program you can fly with it with ease. There are so many different ways to take off a variety of projects. It doesn't just have to be used for estimating, is also a great tool for tracking projects. **What do you dislike about The EDGE?** It's not beginner user-friendly. With any new program, there is a learning curve. However, unless you take training or have someone teach you over a long period of time this is a hard one to understand without some help. Sheet uploading should be one of the easiest tasks and it always takes forever with this program. **Recommendations to others considering The EDGE:** A drag and drop feature would be nice to have for drawings. Updated tutorials online. Also changing the interface to look more updated and user-friendly. Have a way to layer new addendums or bulletins on top of the previous sheets. Its very rare to bid something and not have at least one drawing change throughout the bidding process. **What problems is The EDGE solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest benefits of the edge are having the pre-built conditions and digit take off. We are able to input all drawing into the edge and change them out when a new addendum is added. This a great tool used both in estimating and project management. Also useful for projections and production measure. ### 4. Moving between pages and conditions is super easy and makes me more efficient. This program has a lot of capabilities that we're not currently utilizing. We plan to purchase some training time in order to improve our skills. **What do you dislike about The EDGE?** It's very frustrating that when conditions are linked and they're in multiple scenarios and you changed one detail of a condition, it changes it in all the scenarios. We use the same bidding EDGE file during post-bid reviews and throughout projects. We copy/paste the scenario and rename it. However, changing a detail of that condition messes with all the other conditions it's linked too. **Recommendations to others considering The EDGE:** This is the first real estimating software I've used, so I wasn't sure about it at first. Once I tried it out on some sample projects to learn more about it, I became really comfortable with it and love it now. I can't imagine estimating any other way. **What problems is The EDGE solving and how is that benefiting you?** This software allows us to quickly estimate large projects with relative ease. Our database and templates are already built into a master file, so we just copy/paste into the project folder, rename it and go.
