I use Synthesia for creating videos for YouTube tutorials, and it allows me to create videos quickly from a script with customizable avatars. I like that Synthesia is set up for business professionals who value quality and security. The platform's approach to security is impressive, especially when creating a personal avatar as it requires consent using biometrics and a passcode, which is a higher level of security than many other platforms offer. The stock avatars are very high quality, and the lip sync is excellent. I also find that Synthesia’s avatars are of higher quality compared to alternatives like D-ID and Vyond. I mainly use it to produce training-related videos, and the ability to generate AI images and short video snippets saves me a lot of time every week. What do you dislike about Synthesia? As a user, the only thing I dislike about the tool is that, occasionally, the AI-generated voice sounds slightly different in a random sentence or paragraph. I like that I've been learning about Synthesia, and it's becoming a little easier to use each day. I also appreciate the new upgrade that's happening to make things more accessible and straightforward. I noticed improvements compared to when I first started using it, especially with avatars looking more natural and the voice dubbing sounding better and more consistent. What do you dislike about Synthesia? There's still a few things that have to be improved. There are inconsistencies with the voices and the pronunciation of certain words. For some reason, it may pronounce a word very easily within one or two scenes, and then there's a few more scenes with the exact same word being pronounced weird. You have to do certain tricks to get it right because even if you put the pronunciation within the settings, it still is a little finicky, and that can take some time. I did have emotion in my avatar, and I think it was a little bit more exaggerated than I would have wanted. It came off sounding funny for the most part, but it's not as natural as I expected, so I had to rerecord another one. It's great because I just provide the script, attach screen records, and it combines well with customizable characters. I like that I can choose a character that looks like a doctor for my medical app tutorials. The effects for the mockups are a nice touch, too. I think the characters should be improved and look more natural. High in detail, and lip syncing should be improved as well. I like how user-friendly the tool is. I also appreciate the selection of avatars, backgrounds, and voices—they feel very realistic and are well-suited for corporate training videos. Whenever I’ve had questions or wanted to learn more about features I wasn’t aware of, I’ve consistently found the Synthesia team helpful. Synthesia has made it possible to create seamless training and how-to videos using simple prompts or text-based scripts, putting this capability into the hands of users who don’t have a huge budget but still need to produce multiple videos when required. I really like the AI content-generated feature, where I can drop a script and it styles it according to my parameters, and even improves it. I find the features and tools easy to navigate and adjust, unlike some other video editing tools like Camtasia. The initial setup was very easy. The subtitles that highlight each word are great, and I love them. I also appreciate using an AI agentic persona because it's convenient for me due to my accent and privacy concerns. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Synthesia? Music selections should be more tailored to the educational style. Also, images should be without watermarks. The subtitles that highlight each word clash with the YouTube subtitles. I don't see too many Asian or Middle Eastern-looking characters. I would like avatars to stand, walk, or move around, and be able to add multiple avatars and voices to one slide. Integration with other tools like Canva would be valuable.
