I am able to do a lot of the work needed but there are a few areas which need improved.  I am not able to go fully away from LogmeIn.com because there is still one thing it does which dameware doesn't.  Otherwise its a near perfect product.

Evaluate this product, you will never be disappointed.

It allows me to see details of an endpoint, and even solve problems without fully connecting to that endpoint.  I am able to kill rogue services remotely, sometimes before the user has issues, vastly improving ITSM.

**What do you like best about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

The central server mode was easy for admin of the system.  Users could be quickly added by Active Directory group or by single users.  The service could be installed remotely without any presence directly at the machine.  As long as the PC name was know and an admin account was used, a connection was made.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

The PCs that could be connected MUST be on the same LAN.  We needed to support machines at a subcontractor but could not utilize DMRC for the remote connection.  File transfer with DMRC is not a simple task either.

**What problems is SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a solution to provide remote support to machines on the factory floor and development labs scattered across North America, Europe, and Asia, all from our office in the US.

uncomplicated  way to connect systems to analyze the issues in end user machine or devices even if the user is not around the machine.
Files shared via dameware is easy and  can be reversed post the session.  
It also Provides chatting support snippets facilities during sessions.

The connection would be most terrible if the bandwidth is comparatively shallow. Multiscreen remote session needs to be improved  such as in single screen per slide.

The most valuable part of this software is the layout which is similar to rdcman. It offers most of the same features and capabilities as other software on the market.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

There are some glaring drawbacks to this software. If your license runs out, the software becomes unusable. The ability to add machines is somewhat cumbersome, and there is no way to add notes to entries for better support. The benefits were roughly the same as other complementary products but were ultimately not better in every way

**Recommendations to others considering SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support:**

Unless you are willing to shell out for multiple licenses and support to get the whole gamut of uses, there are better options. RDCMan, while discontinued, as long as you use safe practices, it is okay to use. Another option would be Remote Desktop Manager which has a free and paid version. Microsoft also has one in the store that allows you to import any current configuration files and has a wide array of settings.

It helped with the remote support of users both on and off-campus. It also allowed remote connections to servers and other items that may have needed troubleshooting. The benefits of this software were roughly 50/50 and ultimately depended on the user of the software.

Remote installs often fail when intsalling the software through the Dameware management client.

**Recommendations to others considering SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support:**

I install Dameware Mini Remote Control on all of our company computers as a maintenance tool.  It allows system admins to log in remotely while a standard user is still using the computer.  Dameware Mini Remote enables our system admins to troubleshoot any issues quickly without leaving their offices.  DameWare Mini Remote Control also serves as a great backup to Windows Remote Desktop Protocol.  I use both on a near-daily basis while solving problems for end-users.

**What problems is SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have workstations at multiple remote work sites.  Dameware allows us (the IT Dept) to quickly solve issues on these remote workstations without physically driving to them.  With the Dameware Mini Remote Control software, any of our system admins can efficiently perform maintenance tasks.  Simple system maintenance is important for employee productivity and our company's bottom line.

There are many solutions available in this area, so whether this is the right fit depends on licensing and requirements. Especially today, with tool fatigue and a push towards consolidation, a standalone tool like this might not endure.

**What do you like best about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

Value.  Pricing is based on concurrent use, at about $550 per year, per concurrent tech.  We can support over 100 computers with two licenses, that's very cheap.

The remote control works well, you can also get a remote command prompt, and of course file transfer is supported.  Dual screen support also works pretty well.

We can generate install codes for 1 or many computers, allow end-users to install from a link we send in their email.

We can organize the computers in groups, which helps a lot if you are supporting a lot of computers.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

Multi-factor authentication has been mandated.  Each tech has to deal with getting a code sent to them every time they want to get into the console to select a computer to remote into.  Offering that as a feature is fine, but mandating it, for me to get to my computers, is unacceptable.

**What problems is SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use VNC to support about 300 domain computers.  But we have well over 100 non-domain computers that we can reach only via the internet.  Other products get pretty expensive, or they don't allow for a non-browser based solution.   Dameware is pretty flawless at accessing these non-domain computers (once you get the agent installed on every computer you need to access of course).

We solve the usual range of problems you see in Windows 7 and Windows 10.  Being able to work with the employee via remote access is very helpful.  They can stay in their chair, you can teach them, show them, or just work on some issue when they aren't even there.

The software is easy to install and configure. Connects using DNS Name or IP Address. Offers option for authentication. Can configure so that the remote user can authorize the remote connection. Can be used to connect to remote sites too.

While using an old version, I was unable to get control of the remote keyboard and mouse. Had to upgrade to latest version to address the issue.

Using Remote Control, help us in working on users machine to address their issue without the need to visit their office. Even remote users who are in working in different office spread across the city. The user is able to see what is going on and can authorize actions being taken on this machine.

I like that you can integrate DameWare Remote Everywhere with the Solarwinds Service Desk, making it easier for techs and users to communicate with each other.  Once it's integrated, you simply press a button and DameWare Remote Everywhere puts a link in the ticket for the user to join a session.  The user doesn't have to run through a number of steps to connect - it's all automatic - saving time and hassle.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

It's not an easily navigatable interface like Zoho Assist is - however, that's because it has so much to offer.  It's kinda like looking at a plane's cockpit.  There's a bit of a learning curve to it.

**What problems is SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to have users easily access remote software without them having to do the bulk of the work in getting logged in.  I've had users waiting on ME to join the session because I'd forget how fast they're able to log in.  With other software I've used, I've had to wait for a few minutes for the software to load and for the user to give me rights to their session.

I like the ability to install the client remotely, or manually.  There is great documentation and great support behind this product as well!  I can't recommend SolarWinds for all your support tools!

I wish that the software was backwards compatible.    You can only remote to a computer running the same version as the host.

DameWare allows you to view and experience everything that the end user is seeing and "feeling"!  It saves so much time not having to run around to different office to assist for a couple of clicks!  I have saved so much time by using the product, like another set of hands!

Functionality is very good which is very usefull for remote operation. But only the cons is login to host machine is very difficult..

Unable to simple login to Host pc through VPN because of high rate of refresh into login page. Each time it is refreshing and again reset back to previous state. So can you stop the refresh command and make just as like simple windows Remote Desktop.

**What do you like best about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

I love it's completeness. You can connect many different ways, mirror driver, MRC viewer, RDP, VNC, etc. You can change the authentication method to match your needs as well. Have a domain computer? Use the domain account with permissions to connect and go. Need to log in as a local admin on a domain machine? Change the domain to the computer name, enter the credentials and go. You can save these different connections as well, making it easy to customize a particular connection and revisit it. Most importantly, you can see the UAC prompt and enter elevated credentials when necessary.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

I really dislike how it renders sometimes. If the user has their desktop zoomed in, instead of making it full screen on my side, it carries over into the next screen. I have to adjust it. And heaven help me if the user has multiple screens at different resolutions and I have to move back and forth. I usually end up connecting to the main monitor and asking the user to drag windows over as I need them.

**Recommendations to others considering SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support:**

If you have any DNS issues, it can be difficult to resolve the hostname. That's not a problem with Dameware so I didn't mention it anywhere else. But if you're like most organizations and have phantom DNS issues from time to time, the more prevalent and frequent they are, the more likely you are to have trouble. The more consistent your end users desktop resolution is, also the more consistent your Dameware experience will be.

**What problems is SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can remote into any machine in the organization using this client. Our users don't have to do anything on their side to initiate the remote session, so we don't have the pain of walking them through that before we even begin troubleshooting their actual problems. The program and connection are usually very responsive and I love that I can see the UAC prompt. Some remote tools block that and it makes it difficult to get the job done.

it's definitely the best remote connection program I've ever used. very successful both on computers and mobile devices. I've never had a negative experience.

We give this application provincial support to users of both our computers. as well as out-of-office staff to help the problems experienced by using the mobile support module. We prevent loss of time. Our business continuity has increased. we do not need additional support staff outside the office as we connect and support them remotely. In this way, we reduced our cost.

It is a great alternative to Windows Remote Asstiance. You can transfer files with this program as well.

I work from one location, but service other location up to 3.5 hours away. So it allows me to fix software issues remotely. We have some computers that are out of compliance. They create security vulnerabilities for our network so this allows me to fix them from my office.

**What do you like best about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

I like the ease of use, the ease of setup/deployment.  Unattended access allows for admin elevation, so do the shell interface.  It supports multiple monitors, file transfer, etc.  Lots of the same features as other, much higher priced options and works just as well, if not better.  Plus, the price per technician is great!

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

It has a web based admin console and software based console for management.  We have 2 technician licenses, one for me and one for our help desk guy.  If I'm logged in, as myself, to the web console and my local install of the software console at the same time, he cannot login.  I get that they don't want people sharing accounts.  But limit the number of sessions 1 account can have open at a time and allow the one user to login into both the web based and local console at the same time.  I normally wouldn't complain, but this is how they recommend to set it up.

Other than this one issue, the software is great.

Dameware has made my life a lot easier, especially since we started supporting more and more users to work from home.  The ability to log on with unattended access agent installed on PC's, initiating a session from a web portal or sending remote links to users gives you a lot of very useful options to connect to their device and has been invaluable.

With the application, it is good to connect directly to user screens.
it can also be connected in viewer mode.
This is also a good feature as you can do file transfers while the application is running. these files are stored in their own private folder. you can change if you want.
you can install the agent of the program on a remote computer and access the inventory information on that device.
cpu shows temperature, harddisk shows data density. shows the intensity of work in the CPU.

We have been supporting the end user in our company for 9 years. The management screen and use is extremely successful. I did not see a problem.

It is very easy to connect to computers to check system errors, manage your domain, servers and computers. Easily locate OUs, computers, servers and Workstations. Edit registry, check processes, Schedules, Events..etc. You can create calls to System tools to manage remote computers.

Sometimes the services on the remote machines crash and the remote connection fails, you need to uninstall and install the services again and some times is a bit difficult. You can not deploy the services or remote command to Ous or to a bunch of computers/servers, it need to be done one by one.

Test it! It's very good and useful.

DameWare Mini Remote Control is a easy to use software with many (hidden) great features, like the msi builder for software distribution for local clients. The Software also connects to your local AD, so finding Hostnames / User is very easy.

Definitly the UI, the software / symbols are not very intuitive and sometimes, i've to search for functions to long.

They have a demo version and some good resources. It doesn't take to much time to "go live" for basic functions.

Unlike a lot of other remote control software, I have never had problems with DameWare failing to render the screen of a remote system, failing to allow control, or being sluggish and causing screen tearing and artifacts. I don't know what they did with their MRC driver but DameWare Just Works.

If you are using AD authentication, you will not be able to remote into computers that are not joined to the domain. It's a minor nuisance but one to be aware of.

Do it! If you're looking for rock solid, always dependable remote support software, you can't go wrong with DameWare

The ability to seamlessly remote onto user PC's with little to no connectivity problems. It is reflective of the user's workstation and has no limit of accessibility. All the shortcuts and functions are easy to use and manageable.

Sometimes, when you've initiated a remote session with a user and somehow get disconnected, it still assumes you're on the PC. Although, this is not a large problem, it causes a latency between getting connected. It has a waiting period where it assumes it;s asking you to share a session and then allows you access.

It's a great product with few flaws. The MRC Mirror Driver allows several different options and the control panel is expertly laid out for optimization.

I am extremely impressed at the integration of ADS. Its basically a one stop shop where remote activity is concerned. also impressed at the upload folder and how it handles sharing.

Not much to dislike but for security and monitoring purposes, would be nice if we had an option to disable the connection notification from an administrators stand point. Also, an update to the UI would also be appreciated.

That you can logon to a computer in different (trusted) domains remotely without a user being there, as long as the PC is on and at logon you can log on as a local admin and do your stuff.

We're running an old version.  There's no upgrade path and its incredibly expensive software.

Buy it, you won't regret it.  Unless cost is a factor.

Allows for less time wasted on solving IT related issues - like all remote control software.  This software seems more flexible than many others I've used (like logmein).  Allows for a number of different ways to connect.  Latest version allows for Mac support as well, which is very nice.

Remote onto the target PC and view the current screen (instead of RDP in a new instance). Installs application on target PC without prior setup. Has tools to ping target PCs for basic network  troubleshooting. I also really like that we can remote onto PCs outside of our organizations network by sending a remote desktop authorizations through email or instant messaging. This feature has allowed us to support remote users outside of our network.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

Has no real configuration setting so that i have to set the view controls every time i log in and use the software. I also dislike that even though I have a solid connection to the target PC, the remote connection fails or takes an extended amount of time for a successful session to start.  Restarting the target PC does help most of the time but it becomes moot when your trying to see the error that the user is trying to show you.

Great product for remote desktop services. I can remote onto any PC or server with this even if the target PC does not have Dameware loaded or running

This is a great remote access tool for enterprise environments. It is more secure than Windows Remote Desktop. Works great with AD as well, which is very handy in an enterprise environment like a school district with schools that are miles apart. Mouse and keyboard controls flow seamlessly between your local machine and the machine you are remoted into. When trying to remote into a system that doesn't have the client software, it gives you the option to push the client software out to the machine so that you can get in to help the customer.

When trying to copy text from your local machine and paste to the remote machine, the option doesn't always work.

In our school district, it is rare that we have a tech in every school at any given time. A lot of the time, problems that users call in with are fixable over the phone, but other times, it requires a more hands-on approach and Dameware makes this very simple. Just request the IP address from the user, and you're in!

DameWare works great.  You can save IPs to reconnect later.   It works great, has a lot of options.  One problem I have with windows RDC is if a user has 2 screens, It can be a little clunky.  DameWare handles multiple displays like a champ.

I can't think of a bad feature of this software.

**What do you like best about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

This is a great tool for the small to medium business. For the act of obtaining a remote desktop connection of a PC on the network ... it's simple and works without frills. If the Dameware agent is not installed on the target machine... the technician console will push it out silently as long as you have the appropriate authority. We also use it as a quick way for users to find their PC number or IP by clicking on the icon in the system tray. 

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

It is a no-frills solution and priced as such. However there are a few small things that i have to tweak within the technician console before 1st use. The little thing that niggles me the most is you have to go in to the global settings - default host properties .. and tick the 'Show Remote Cursor'... I am not sure why you wouldn't want this set as default as you cannot see where you are clicking otherwise? 
Also when you connect to a machine it saves the connection settings, with the machine name automatically. This makes it easy to find and connect next time. But it's quicker sometimes to just type in the machines number and connect - this means that you end up with a large list of previously connected machines which also duplicate. I haven't found a way to turn this off as yet?
But these are small things really - i really rate this little tool really

If you need a cost effective tool to remote assist users - great.!!

We needed a cost effective & quick to implement tool to replace an ailing VNC solution that we were using that really wasn't fit for purpose. The VNC solution had many flaws.. one of which was you could end up fighting the user for control of the mouse or keyboard... Dameware has a great option to block any mouse and keyboard input from the user when you are connected.
As i say there are many more complex systems that can give you remote support facility along with all kinds of asset management or estate scanning  but we didnt require any frills and Dameware was the right tool for the right price.

DameWare allows me to remote into clients' computer machines and completely gain computer control, while also allowing the user to observe my actions on their end. I like the feature of "locking" the end-user's controls and thus preventing them from accidentally interrupting any processes that I am running on their computer. I also like that you can save the IP addresses of the machines that are most used in a visible "favorites" column.

**What do you dislike about SolarWinds DameWare Remote Support?**

Resolution is sometimes distorted, depending on the settings on the end-user's monitor. Although not a critical problem, scrolling up/down and left/right constantly could be time consuming and annoying.

I would definitely recommend DameWare for your business purposes.

I like that Dameware is very easy to configure and use.  Most of the options are able to be found without the need to click through multiple menus.  A lot of the necessary features are located on the hot bar.  The software supports smart cards.
