As a teacher, you need a platform to teach students, to assess students, and to communicate with parents. Seesaw is that tool. Yes, there are a plethora of tools for older students, but when it comes to the littles, tools are limited. That's ok, you don't need anything other than Seesaw! Easy enough for kindergarteners to use independently, and deep enough for high schoolers, Seesaw is the tool you need! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is little to dislike about Seesaw. They were one of the first educational companies to respond during the COVID crisis, modifying their entire platform to accommodate learning from home within a week of the shut-down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Seesaw is incredibly user friendly for even our youngest students. We have our preschoolers using the platform with relative ease. I'm amazed that they've created a tool that students who are not yet reading can navigate effectively to document their learning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish we could use just Seesaw and move away from other LMS, but Seesaw lacks a good option for word processing. Students can attach notes, or you can link a Google doc, but Google Classroom is much, much easier for engaging students in the writing process. Edits, revisions, multiple drafts, etc aren't easy to navigate through in Seesaw. If this feature could be worked in as seamlessly as it's worked into Google Classroom, Seesaw could be our one & only LMS. There are also occasional weird glitches with Seesaw & Google - a link that is set to "Anyone can view" for some reason requires logging in with Google when accessed through Seesaw - things like that which can derail a kindergarten class but are minor in the grand scheme of things! This semester due to the pandemic, my daughter’s classroom used Seesaw to send school work and creative materials to her teacher. The first time using the Seesaw app we found it to be user friendly. What I like best is that you can upload work and type in notes or captions in the same image or document area. This saves a lot of time than having to upload an image or document then the caption second. I am so thankful for this platform as it has taught my daughter to improve her math skills through the block tools that are used and learning science application. As far as dislikes, I don’t like that there is no history section as of what was already sent to the teacher. Sometimes I have sent things twice if I wasn’t sure that I sent it before. I also wish there was more of a communication between parents and maybe a parents chat section so that play dates could be scheduled. That would have been nice. Something like a sharing of work or art content between kids and parents could monitor that section as well as communicate with one another.I also notice that when you are working on the mobile app and say you have your child to some writing or math/drawing work it's very hard to use your fingers. I think it's because the screen is so small so a stylus is definitely needed for this portion if you are working from the mobile app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how easy and simple it is to set up a Seesaw site, share access to learners and collaborators, and manage how all users engage and access the site. It's not a full functioned tool like some solutions that we use, but it gets the job done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My only issue with Seesaw has been how it handles some links posted on the sites. Some video links don't play or freeze. Also, it's not as easy with Seesaw to save your progress in projects and move to other tasks. I have had many users lose their projects as they navigated to different sites while progress. As a parent, I love being able to see my child's work, and to leave comments for them to read. Lots of great options to share different formats - pictures, annotations, videos with audio, etc. Teachers are able to approve content before it officially posts. I also love being able to see weekly teacher newsletters in one place, rather than having to search my email! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only difficult thing is that when teachers add content, it adds in by date created, not date added, so it's sometimes hard to scroll back and find out what was newly added since you last looked at the app or site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The format is similar to Facebook which most people have so it’s relatable. The option I have to approve or delete comments. I like how i can private message parents. The ability for students to post their work and she’s with class if they want to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don’t like that adding a caption (which is what I usually do when posting a reminder That includes a graphic or photo ) it is not behind the ...bubble on the phone version which is a pain to access. The process to add students to their own accounts is complicated and could be easier Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The workflow and the various ways to review and approve students work. I have 3 groups of students and use activity, folders and the students as ways to review and approve work Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's too easy to send back work without comments. SeeSaw should fix this or at least put up a 'Are you Sure' notification. I've learned now to comment first before hitting the send back button Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like how you can quickly and easily communicate with parents about the work that the children are doing as well as communicating about important information directly.
The parents are able to look at the work their children are doing and comment and like the work they have done.
You can create assignments quickly and easily. Once you have created an assignment you can assign the assignment to any class you are linked to all at once. You also are able to schedule when the activity appears and what folders it is stored in.
All of the assignments you create are stored automatically for easy reuse and editing. You can also create a school wide database of assignments you want to share to all for cross curriculum collaboration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If I want to assign work to multiple classes at once there is not an easy way to post work to all of them at once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Seesaw has a very easy to use and easy to train interface for all levels of learners. It's a bare bones LMS-like system that can easily facilitate simple learning tasks. Our facilitators have a relatively simple time distributing learning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Seesaw definitely has it's limitations and we see some end user issues from time to time. Our biggest issue has been with users losing submissions or posts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They have an app and also a web version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While on quarantine the school of my children started actively using SeeSaw for remote education. Let me say this way: I manage of a company with 300 employees, yet I never felt so helpless, confused and frustrated as when I tried to manage education for three 8 year old children. Thank god they are triplets and two of them are in the same class, so at least some things could be shared - otherwise I probably would go crazy.
You can never understand which assignments are due, where the info is being sent (is in journal? in the child's inbox? in parent's notification?). Every time a child needs to submit the work they did, they cannot figure out and call you. Uploading a photo takes 4-5 clicks and you cannot upload multiple pictures at once.
During the last 1.5 months judging by the amount of my worktime wasted - the SeeSaw is on the top of the list "Things with negative impact" Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform is very easy to navigate through. Instructors can easily input assignments for students to do, and it shows when they are completed so it’s easy to track. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It’s not attached to canvas, which is the learning platform for students at the moment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I absolutely LOVE that is 100% elementary age kid appropriate. With a chromebook my child was able to complete all of her school task completely independent, from sign in to submit! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
From time to time there would be elements that were pretty different to manipulate. In those cases were were able to use the conveniently located comment box to send a direct message to her teacher. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that teachers can post assignments and time limits on Seesaw. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not like how challenging it is to download pictures or screenshots. About 80% of the work I do is shown by pictures or screenshots. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Parents want to celebrate their children's achievements at each stage, so it is important to keep them aware of their children's progress throughout the school year. With the Seesaw application, students can store and publish their best work to share with their parents. Teachers, on the other hand, can provide concrete examples of their students' strengths and areas to improve their parents during parent-teacher meetings. The improvements in the Activities section make it easy to share activities with your classes, save voice instructions and find other activities provided by teachers in the library. So far nothing, I have been using it for about two years and it has only brought positive things to my life. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of use for smaller children and their ability to navigate it somewhat well without a lot of guidance. Allows children to draw or record videos and they can upload their own videos and pictures. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The options for file uploading was lackluster. Wish their was more customization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like about SeeSaw is that I get to review and comments on my child's school work, they use this application in school. For working parents it's a great tool to view what your child is doing in school and you can see their projects and videos. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I just started using this application and as of right not I don't have any dislikes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The thing that I like best about SeeSaw is that there are so many activities already created that you can edit if you would like or push right out to your students, all created by other teachers! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike that you cannot create a button to add to your activity that once clicked, will say directions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
