"Speed up your PhD thesis with Seekfast"
What do you like best about SeekFast?

Hello

I am a PhD student in the department of philosophy. I have thousands of pages of documents to review. Seekfast allowed me to quickly find the concepts in these documents. It lists the documents containing the concepts I'm looking for. I can access these documents with one click. It also supports many document types such as pdf and word. Seekfast will be useful for all social science academics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SeekFast?

In some search results, the part containing the word is given as a paragraph. I find it more useful that you give it in sentence form. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile app for quickly searching through ALL your documents"
What do you like best about SeekFast?

Seekfast works very well as an application and it saves me SO MUCH time looking for information within multiple directories of documents. I used it daily at work to save me a lot of time from manually guessing which file had the info I need, and then manually searching through the document for what I'm looking for.

1: The indexing process is very fast, it'll process a directory and many sub-directories full of files very quickly.

2: There are 16 categories of file types you can filter by

3: The search results are returned in a manner that makes sense. Seekfast will return a list of files matching your search team, below each filename is a list of places in the document where your search term was found, at the top of the list are places where it was found verbatim, following that the list will show results where your search term is used in context, so if you search for "root access" down the list you'll find "root-level access, "access requires root account access", etc.

4: Here's the cool part, if you click on a line from the search results, the app will load that line of text and all it's surrounding text from the document so you can see the greater context. It does this in the app, no need to open the document itself.

5: When you're ready to open the document, just click on the document filename in the search results and it will open in your default application for that filetype. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SeekFast?

The back button isn't mapped to a keyboard shortcut, you have to click the back arrow icon. Not a big deal, but I wish it was the same keyboard shortcut as found in common web browsers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Incredibly fast, user-friendly, and excellent support"
What do you like best about SeekFast?

Among the many different types of searches, I perform using SeekFast are those involving scanned student assignments, word documents, and an ebook library as well as scanned heavy volumes in pdf format. I've had no issues at all. In terms of design, the interface is very clean and intuitive, with no unnecessary toolbars or complex split-screen views (even though some would prefer that on a bigger screen).

Even with 4GB of RAM three-year-old student laptop PC (not from the powerful series), SeekFast runs smoothly and quickly on the minimum requirement. It's incredible how quickly SeekFast reads the documents on HDD, but I found on SSD a lot quicker (27 files in 17.1 seconds). SeekFast seems to work nicely with minimum requirement PC spec. I don't believe any other equivalent tool today could match SeekFast's efficiency and stability.

It's also a good idea to not include a full document viewer in the app because it would significantly slow it down. Searching for information on a computer is much more enjoyable when the PC's default document reader is a lite pdf or document reader. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SeekFast?

I don't think that there is anything to dislike about SeekFast. Even on a 3-year-old Athlon system with 4GB of RAM, the software did not hog memory when searching through 40+ OCR scanned pdfs ranging in size from 2-6MB. Using the same PC, I've encountered troubles with a flashing screen or a temporary "not responding" when using other similar tools. CTRL+ Mouse Scroll allows you to resize the displayed text, which is a lot more convenient. However, I don't know if there is an option to change the interface to dark mode. It will actually benefit the user's eyesight when used for long periods of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SeekFast is a Game-Changer"
What do you like best about SeekFast?

I like the sheer speed for searching hundreds of Microsoft Word files for a string of characters without indexing. Then it has an easy click to go view the find without opening the Word program and then using Word's search feature. It enables me to search over 14,000 index cards of information in seconds. I have downloaded and often bought programs that promised to search my word processing files with the same speed as my old DOS-based program did, but none of them worked. I always had to go open my word processor one a string of characters was found and then do a search withing the filed I opened. With SeekFast, the string of characters is found in seconds, in every location in the folder, and with one click I can view the particular file, scroll until I can see the title, and pull the hard copy from the drawers around my work station. It was inexpense to purchase the full program and the support at SeekFast has been quick, professional, and solved any questions I had about how best to use it. What do you dislike about SeekFast?

There is NOTHING I dislike about this program. I use it every week and multiple times a week. It was the culmination of regular searches for a search engine that does what it does. I had been looking ever since Windows replaced the DOS platform. I had a DOS program that worked beautifully, but as Windows appeared with its more complicated program language, the DOS program became ineffective. SeekFast was the culmination of a 10-year search for a program that does exactly what it does. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
