I enjoy using Samsara because it makes it easy to keep track of our drivers and know where everyone is, as well as where they have been throughout the day. Having access to real-time location information makes it much easier to provide accurate ETA estimates, coordinate operations, and improve overall efficiency.

The user interface is intuitive and very easy to navigate, which also makes onboarding new users simple and straightforward. Samsara integrates well with our existing systems and has been easy to incorporate into our day-to-day operations without creating unnecessary complications.

The automated features are phenomenal and help eliminate a lot of manual work while giving us better visibility into our fleet and operations. I also appreciate the safety features, which help encourage safer driving habits and protect both our drivers and others on the road.

From a cost standpoint, I believe Samsara provides excellent value for the price, especially considering the number of tools and capabilities included. Their customer support has also been great whenever assistance is needed. I like Samsara's ease of use and the great interface, with little to no problems with its software. I find the fault code feature very helpful as it shows the fault code when a vehicle gets a check engine light and provides more info to give to the mechanic shop, helping to avoid downtime by addressing problems right away. Samsara is really useful for industries like ours—trucking and logistics. With Samsara, we can check our trucks’ and trailers’ locations in real time and use that to help navigate and manage them. The safety features are also really good: we can monitor drivers and see whether they are following the rules or not. I use Samsara about five times a week to monitor trucks delivering building materials to job sites. In the Assets section under Overview, I can quickly check fuel levels in our trucks and review route history. With live GPS, I’m also able to help my drivers when they’re trying to find job sites. We also use the Documents section to upload jobsite photos of our material drops, which has saved us in situations where materials were stolen after we delivered them. I only use a limited set of resources in Samsara, and with what I use, there isn’t really anything I dislike. One feature I wish it had—or maybe it already does and I just don’t know about it—is traffic. I like having a clearer picture of where our vehicles are and how they are being used throughout the day. It makes coordinating transport activities easier, especially when several vehicles are assigned to different destinations. Samsara can detect or report behaviours such as speeding, mobile device use, following distance, forward-collision risk, seat-belt issues, and other driving events. It moves from reactive investigation toward proactive prevention. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The major disadvantage of Samsara are incorrect detections, worker concerns about monitoring and privacy, alert fatigue, and administrative effort required to review events and complete coaching. What I like the most is that Samsara acts as my eyes and ears on the road because I cannot be with every driver all of the time. It helps to prevent false auto liability claims for us and also paints a true picture of events of all incidents. I love the video retrieval function as well as the coaching functions. The only downside to Samsara that I have noticed for me is the calibration. Sometimes a driver will wipe his mouth and it detects that he is smoking. Or he has his hat pulled down too far and it detects obstruction or drowsy because it can't see his eyes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best thing about Samsara is the live HOS reports and the live tracking feature, which help us monitor our loads and drivers. What I like most is how much useful information I can get out of Samsara without having to build everything myself. As a transportation analytics and finance manager, I used to spend a lot of time pulling data from different systems and stitching it together in spreadsheets. With Samsara’s AI tools, we built a single KPI dashboard on the platform that covers utilization, maintenance, and safety. Leadership now receives an automated weekly KPI report for our hub trucks and our full maintenance pool, so no one has to compile it by hand.

The trip data is just as valuable in day-to-day work. When we test a new route, we can quickly see how many hours the run took and how many miles it covered, then decide whether we need to adjust the schedule or change the unload process. Drivers also upload photo evidence directly into Samsara, which gives us one consistent record to reference when questions come up. We connect Samsara to our data warehouse, so the data feeds our existing reporting instead of living in a separate tool. The data connection to our warehouse can be fragile. When a sync job fails, reports that depend on it come up blank until the job is fixed. Some AI-generated numbers, like utilization and assignment time, still need checking against our own figures before we can fully trust them. The maintenance module is powerful but takes time to learn, and better training materials would help teams adopt it without duplicating work they already do. I really appreciate how easy it is to access and use. The live feed it provides is amazing, especially for communicating with our customers. The pricing feels fair, and the ROI has definitely been worth it—there’s nothing better than being able to pinpoint a delivery. Even our older drivers can use it without issues. I’m also a huge advocate of AI (I’m constantly using Claude 24/7), so I like the AI approach as well. Overall, it’s very simple and user-friendly, and the customer support is excellent. I reached out once a couple of months back, and they had everything fixed for me within an hour or two. I have not fully dove into the integration as I feel the browser version is more than enough for what we use it for but if I ever implement into a full stack with Claude and a CRM It would be nice.
