This is a follow up to my original review; we still love the Samsara GPS system for monitoring our technicians and their locations. It's easy to use, responsive, and gives pertinent information about each vehicle. We value safety and Samsara helps us monitor that effectively.

Samsara is extremely user friendly. Everything is easy to understand, and I think customer support is excellent too.

I like having a centralized view of our vehicles and their activities. What I like most about Samsara is how everything is in one place. The GPS tracking is really useful, and I like being able to check vehicle locations, driver activity, and alerts without having to use different systems. The main thing I’d dislike is that there can be quite a lot of information on the screen, so it takes a little time to get used to where everything is. I like how easy Samsara makes it to see where our trucks and equipment are in real time. In transportation and logistics, having accurate locations and vehicle information in one place saves a lot of time and cuts down on phone calls. The biggest downside is that Samsara can sometimes feel like it has more information and features than I need for my day-to-day work. Finding a specific vehicle or piece of information can occasionally take more clicks than expected. Our experience with Samsara has been very positive. From the first day, the platform stood out for its intuitive and modern UI/UX, which allowed users to adapt quickly without the need for extensive training. What we like least about Samsara is that some advanced configurations and reports could offer greater customization flexibility. Additionally, the cost can be high for certain budgets, although the value and functionalities it offers compensate for the investment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like being able to review driver behavior and send coaching when needed, while also recognizing good driving. Before using Samsara, we weren’t able to view driver data in a meaningful way. Within the first three months of implementation, our driving scores increased by approximately 15%, and the metrics were able to self-adjust using AI. By looking at speed, g-forces, and durations, we can see the full picture of driving behavior.

Onboarding wasn’t too difficult overall, although it did take some time to get drivers comfortable with the login and inspection process. The ROI on insurance from having monitoring in place has been huge for us. Driver performance has improved, and we continue to tweak the system as needed to better align with our internal grading measures. The user interface isn’t difficult and feels fairly simple once you get familiar with it.

I appreciate having better visibility into equipment and assets used across different work locations. In construction, machinery and equipment can move between projects, so knowing where assets are and understanding how they are being used can make coordination easier. Getting the most value from asset tracking depends on having the appropriate devices installed and maintaining accurate asset records. My biggest frustration is the limited ability to view a driver’s duty status in relation to their location within Trip History. For log audits, it’s important to be able to verify where a driver was while on-duty/not-driving, fueling, driving, or performing other activities. Trip History currently focuses primarily on driving segments, making it difficult to connect duty-status changes with specific locations and conduct a complete audit. I really like the ETA feature in Samsara. I can calculate the estimated time of arrival directly without having to manually calculate it or call the driver. The proximity feature is also excellent — it lets me check whether the driver has crossed a specific location, which has been very useful for tracking and verification.
