You do not need to maintain a separate VM or Virtual Appliance or even physical appliance with the service needed to maintain and take care of it. The other main advantage is the ability in real-time to see every device attempting to connect. This is helpful during audits to demonstrate authorized devices from unauthorized to an auditor. Lastly, Portnox aligned with the organization's compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, GLBA, and GDPR. **What do you dislike about Portnox?** The main issues with our Portnox solution has been intermittent authentication problems. Things like RADIUS timeouts, mysterious workstation auth issues, and guest wi-fi connection issues. Additionally, there's been a struggle with integration with our network firewalls mainly about configuring guest captive portal wireless with Fortinet. **What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?** One problem the Portnox is solving is to provide a comprehensive compliance-based solution that fits well with our regulations, but also provides a functional secure perimeter around our network. If an employee or user tries to connect their phone to it and gets MAC address bypass denied and I look at alerts and confirm their device is not one I want to worry about. The platform includes certificate management and we were able to integrate it into WorkspaceOne so we are able to revoke certs as part of our workflow shoudl the need arise. Presales was a good experience, with knowledgeable individuals rather than pushy reps and a fully functional pilot program. **What do you dislike about Portnox?** Some errors are difficult to pinpoint, possibly because we are using WorkspaceOne for cert deployment, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of experience with that on the Portnox side. Troubleshooting requires four different parties (Internal network, internal endpoint, Portnox, WS1) to coordinate and collaborate. **What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a higher level of auth for WiFi. We had a slightly unusual requirement that computers themselves be authorized, as we have many kiosks for workers that don't have identity accounts to tie in with MS Entra. Thus, we needed cert-based auth that would work for kiosks as well as standard user devices like laptops. Portnox SCEP and RADIUS combine for the perfect solution that allows us to do this. We will eventually roll out NAC on our wired ports and have already seen it function so have faith that we have the right product for long term goals. ### 16.
