Portnox Clear saves our team at least a month of working on implementing an On-prem radius solution.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Didn't have anything to say except the pricing.

Saas SaaS-based Radius and SCEP provider.

  ### 4. good to use

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

ease of use and the support team very helpful

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

One thing I’ve found challenging with Portnox is the initial setup and configuration — it can be a bit complex, especially for teams new to NAC solutions. More streamlined onboarding or improved documentation would really help.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portnox helps us enforce strong network access control across both on-premises and remote environments. It provides clear visibility into all devices connecting to our network, ensures endpoint compliance with security policies, and reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

  ### 5. Great Product and works as designed.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenneth W. | IT Security Manager, Banking, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

The most helpful component of portnox is the extensive documentation on intigrating the solution into your network. We found getting the test case setup was verify easy to do and within 30 minutes the account was stood up and we had a working Radius based wifi setup and working.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Although there is a view of all devices, it may list out divices, but if we wanted to see what devices was plugged into a specific switchport it is difficult to see that infomration.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portnox is funtioning as our NAC solution for wired and wireless connections. It authenticates the device to the network and ensures only authorized devices are allowed to connect.

  ### 6. Portnox: A CLEAR Winner!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Portnox CLEAR was so easy to install and both the Proof of Concept and Support team have been readily available at all stages. The fact it can be rolled out in a phased approach, even on a switch port by switch port basis, made onboarding simple and stress free (unlike other post-authentication solutions where it's always a scary time when you hit that enable button!). The dynamic VLAN assignment feature is also fantastic, meaning we no longer have concern with users moving devices and plugging into a network socket configured for a different VLAN. Portnox will simply identify and authenticate the device, before telling the switch which VLAN to put it on. Another great experience for us was when we initially started using the product, the email alerts that trigger when untrusted devices attempt a connection did not contain which site the device was connected to and only includes the device itself. Therefore, multiple teams may end up logging into Portnox to identify the device, when if the email included at least the site it came from, it would save the wider team a lot of time. We put in a feature request for this and within a few months the email alerts where updated! It was also very easy to integrate into our switch environment (Aruba) as there are plenty of guides / documentation for the various vendors.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

There are a couple of minor nuances to Portnox that initially makes it harder to understand how the system hangs together. The conecepts of accounts, groups and policies all make sense once you have been through them a couple of times, but at first glance, the relationship between them isn't obvious (particularly as to which should be configured first). This is probably just to do with the layout within the GUI more than anything else, but once you work past that it is fine.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portnox of course is solving the issue of untrusted devices being connected to our network. We previously deployed post-authentication NAC which worked most of the time, but you were never confident it would pick up everything. Portnox and the pre-authentication method ensures devices are not even allowed onto the network without being trusted.

  ### 7. it's good Service

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2025

IOT Security part is best.that is the advantage of the Portnox.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

I have to feel Password manage method is not reliable

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it's good for the NOC part.monitering and security management

  ### 8. Best option for RADUIS services

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derrek K. | Solution Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

The service just works. it has all the features that we were looking for and each component or configuration that we put in place just worked. We really didn't need to go thru a lot of difficulty or complex test/issue resolution cycles. This made it an easy to implement solution for us.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

The pricing structure is a bit confusing and may be high for very small organizations.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us ensure that only validated devices are able to connect to our wired and wireless networks.

  ### 9. Review of Portnox CORE and CLEAR

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Olusegun R. | Pre-Sales Security Consultant, Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

The ease of use and deployment of Portnox CORE and Portnox CLEAR.
For Portnox CORE - Integration with various networking gears to be able give full visibility into all connected devices across an infrastructure, agentless approach to Network Access Control, fast roll-out.

For Portnox CLEAR - The conditional access into SaaS applications is very good and the application and services inventory based on the agent-based deployment is also very good

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Portnox CORE - The heavy reliance on WMI and remote registry as a source of authenticating devices based on vulnerabilities that can be explored using these services makes it difficult to convince customers to authenticate devices using these methods. The time it takes to detect rogue systems on the network could be longer if devices are connected to remote branches, pre-authentication options are very limited, and managing guest on a Wired network is extremely difficult and cumbersome. No integration to vulnerability or patching solutions eg. Intune, SCCM, Mobile device management solutions. Integration into Endpoint detection and response solutions is very basic, just checking of relevant services there is no direct integration into those solutions to understand the current state of the device from an EDR perspective

Portnox CLEAR - The ability to integrate with other radius servers for authentication and authorization will be a good addon, there is almost no reporting feature on Portnox CLEAR which makes it very difficult to show the value to upper management, There is no overall compliance score for all devices connected on the network to show if there has been improvements in terms of device compliance to show some sort of improvements over some time. The fallback for when a Radius server is down is not essentially scalable, there has to be other means of authenticating devices if the cloud radius is down, the local radius should be able to take up the full functionality of cloud radius server. Direct Integration into NextGen AVs and EDR via APIs is very key, the current integration seems obscure and you cannot ascertain what criteria it is using to be able to determine if a device is updated or has the correct agent versions. Remediation based on ingestions from alerts from other solutions is extremely limited and Role-based and Multi-tenancy configuration on the solution is extremely limited

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portnox solves network access control and also applies to zero network implementation. We have been able to deploy the solution to a couple of organizations and they are seeing the benefit as it fits into their cyber security maturity program.

  ### 10. Cloud RADIUS requirement met! Fast and efficent onboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ted L. | Senior Principal IT Technologist and Security Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Our company needed a cloud RADIUS solution for our internal Wi-Fi as we moved away from on-prem hardware. I researched some solutions, but Portnox allowed a free trial and free onboarding assistance before committing to the product.

They have great documentation on setting it up on your own if you're so inclined, but their onboarding team was responsive, friendly, and followed up continually to make sure our needs were being met. They even were kind enough to extend our trial when some other high priority items arose, and we had to shelve the trial for a while.

The experience with their team and helpfulness in onboarding and finding the right license package for our size sold us on the product.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

There's not much I dislike about the product. It took a bit for me to understand how to navigate around in their platform, but once I figured out the flow of settings, it made sense.

I have not found a way to control the daily email log notification regularity (we get them daily and wish we could turn this off) but it's possible I'm missing the setting somewhere.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 13. Portnox for 802.1x Wireless Radius as a Service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Portnox is easy to use and their implementation team is knowledgeable and walks you through setup step by step. It's great for a distributed organization and works well for our wireless 802.1x implementation (Certs on devices). Anytime we had a question, support was able to help quickly and thoroughly.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

So far, nothing. It does everything it advertises to do and does it well with great support.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a globally distributed organization that had no NAC in place. Portnox helped us to get 802.1x Wireless NAC in place using their Radius as a service and we have since standardized on SSIDs around the globe and distributed machine certs through intune policies so all our machines auto-connect to our business wireless network without issue and securely.

  ### 14. A breath of fresh air in the 802.1x field

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

I cant even begin to express how easy this was to impliment and how well it works. After using two leading competitors products in the field, this was so easy to impliment and maintain. We had been plauged with outages from one product. The other was just a management nightmare. Changing to Portnox fixed all of these problems. If you are on the fence, just do it. You will love the product. It integrated perfectly with all of our MDM products. It works with Azure perfectly as well. The customer support during implementation and demo was top notch as well.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

I have zero downsides so far with Portnox.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

802.1x in a 100% cloud infrastructure environment.

TACACS-as-a-service pricing model per admin user can become costly if you have multiple 3rd party managed service provider team members to account for.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NAC, PKI RADIUS Guest WiFi
Saves us using Cisco ISE in an on-prem deployment

  ### 17. quick and not dirty

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Chemicals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

great price, service for the implementation already included, nice support, Interface is simple and intuitive, offline radius server (as proxy) is available with an easy template

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

there is a lack of ready templates for the common switch manufacturers on different software versions. Sometimes we need a lot of attempts for the implementation. I would have liked more experience instead of trial and error.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easier and faster to implement than e.g. a windows radius. The solution is also easy to expandable worldwide. The settings can be easily adjusted to different normal needs

  ### 18. Phenomenal product & service team from sales to implementation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared P. | Director of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Being a cloud-forward company it was incredibly valuable to have 802.1x RADIUS authentication over the cloud in our network. This has allowed us to completely lock down our employee WiFi, LAN, and IoT network behind Portnox using InTune management to deploy the SCEP certificate. The transition was seamless too. Once InTune reported that all recently checked in machines had the new certificate we were able to easily turn off our old SSID's and force all traffic through our RADIUS backed SSID's without a hitch.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

So far I haven't found much I don't like. The product is simple to use but offers complexity when you want to build it in. The user interface is clean. Support is easy to get a hold of. Everything just works.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portnox has allowed us to remove all static passwords on our network devices securing our network behind certificate based authentication.

  ### 19. Portnox Powerhouse

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Portnox is a powerhouse of a NAC solution that integrates seemlessly with our Azure AD/Microsoft Intune environment. It is easy to implement and the ability to control NAC via Intune groups has been a game changer for us. Having visibilty to authentication alerts provides all the details you require to troubleshoot. We use Portnox every day. I haven't personally needed to contact customer support, but have heard they are helpful.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Sometimes when deleting devices within Portnox, a stale record will remain. Make sure to search for the device name again to ensure all records are cleared.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NAC groups synced via MS Intune. Visibility to authentication attempts across our network.

  ### 20. Vital Piece of the Security Puzzle

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Portnox has an easy to understand interface and easy to use. The support team has been great over the 4 years we have been with them and is always responsive and effective. Once the system it is up and running, there is very little "maintenance" that needs to be done. It has been a great addition to our security profile.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

The only issues we've had with Portnox is when we tried to upgrate to the cloud platform, but that actually wasn't the fault of Portnox but our current switch environment didnt support the necessary configuration.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prevents all non-organiztioaln devices from connecting physically and wirelessly

  ### 21. Easy to use and 100% cloud - exactly what we were looking for

**Reviewed by:** Andy M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

This is the perfect solution for us. We are transitioning our environment to 100% cloud using Intune to manage all our endpoints. This enabled us to rapidly remove legacy and complex on-prem NAC and PKI solutions.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

The interface is dull and not the easiest to use.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing us to secure access to our wired and wireless networks without needing any VPN tunnels or server infrastructure. A must as we move to primarily cloud/SaaS solutions.

  ### 29. Portnox CLEAR - An Infrastructure Engineer's review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Craig D. | Technical Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Portnox CLEAR has helped my company to secure 5 sites around the UK and Northern Ireland from unauthorised access to the LAN and WAN. Using Microsoft Intune to deliver 802.1x certificates to enrolled devices, each device is authenticated, at switch port or wireless access point level, to a Cloud RADIUS server provided by Portnox. This ensures only company owned, MDM enrolled and compliant devices can access the company network and resources. As it

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

The web based user interface isn't as user friendly as it could be. Some time spent developing the aesthetic and function of each part of the Portnox CLEAR product would give a much better UX.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company's network infrastructure was open to connections from any device, company owned or BYOD, leaving our network vulnerable to attack at any one of our five sites, from internal or external bad actors. Portnox CLEAR has eliminated the surface of these attack vectors to ensure only company owned, compliant or approved devices have access to any wired or wireless connection to our company network.

  ### 30. It works very well - our systems have been properly separated from our partner company's

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe F. | IT Support, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

We are able to use a shared space with confidence that our data is safe. It allows us to have another company in our office without worrying that our data is being accessed.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

We had a few issues of licenses not automatically freeing up but otherwise no problems at all! The setup did not take long at all but, because the system is quite complex, it required a lot of testing.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have two companies in one office, using the same network ports. We have used Portnox to give the other company access to our network, but not our data. This keeps us safe and secure.

Portnox does not require appliances, agent software, 802.1X or changes to existing networking infrastructure such as mirror or span ports.

  ### 32. review on portnox

Enforces security policies and protocols to protect against cyber threats
Integrates with other security solutions and tools
Offers flexible deployment options, including cloud, virtual, and physical appliances
Provides real-time monitoring and reporting capabilities
Offers a user-friendly interface and easy-to-use features

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

May require some configuration and setup to work optimally
Can be expensive, depending on the size of the organization and the level of functionality required
May require additional training or expertise to use effectively
Some features may be more complex than necessary for smaller organizations with simpler network environments

  ### 33. Easy deploy. Great NAC.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachary S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

SaaS based product. Deploy was ridiculously easy. The support was great.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Some documentation is outdated. I wish they would update it.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simple NAC for a company that has little to no on prem presence.

  ### 34. Excellent product with great onboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Cloud Product with no on-prem services required

Easy to set up with great onboarding assistance

Actually does what it promises

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Nothing, great experience, the fact we have also been able to remove our radius server is an added bonus as well as the legacy Portnox server by moving to the Cloud service is a bonus.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Stops unverified users connecting to our wired and wireless networks

  ### 35. Great RADIUS Service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Travis F. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Ease of setup, advanced configuration options, and security features

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Different instances require different logins. It would be nice to have 1 login that shows all my company's RADIUS solutions rather than logging into each one specifically.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cert-based authentication has elevated our employee's experience tremendously and improved our security posture. We no longer have complex keys (that employees ended up writing down) or have to manage key rotation, and we have given our employees the same work experience for wired or wireless connectivity, improving productivity and lowering frustration.

  ### 36. Takes the complexity out of multi-site RADIUS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

First, working with Portnox support from the beginning was a great experience. They answered all my questions and have been there from PoC to now. The product is easy to use, pretty much set and forget when it's going. I'm using this across three sites in US, UK, and China, and having centralized management is fantastic. Most importantly, it does the job by only allowing devices on the network per my requirements.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Portnox Clear (Radius as a Service) works great, but be sure you run the latest firmware on your switches; otherwise, some RADIUS settings may not be available. The only issue I've had is with some older switches; newer ones work great.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a solid NAC solution. We tried other hardware appliances that were so-so or even caused network issues when they blocked devices they shouldn't have. I also needed easy-to-view logging; the user interface makes it very simple.

  ### 37. Making secure WiFi authentication as easy as 123

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kiril T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Within an hour we established a fully functional and easy to manage certificate based WiFi authentication solution which works flawlessly.
Any other vendor we tried either couldn't provide a solution in the topology we wanted or didn't have the right compliance certificates.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Sometimes there's a weird behavior when enrolling new users into the system.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Securing a LAN WiFi network and preventing unmanaged device from connecting to it.

  ### 38. Simple cloud based NAC solution. Easy to deploy

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

Cloud based solution, easy to deploy. Simple and reliable. No hardware needed and scalable. Works with hardware vendors.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

Lack of advance features. WebGUI can be buggy. Still need a lot of improven to compete with market leaders.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to deploy a simple NAC solution in a short period. Portnox did it well with simeple implementation.

  ### 39. Great NAC for simple cases

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2023

Easy to use compared to other NACs. The GUI is really intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

The support when I have a problem with new switch integration

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy SNMP, Fingerprint, SSH/telnet and domain checks - this is for the core solution
Great cloud management - this is for the CLEAR solution

  ### 40. "Best nac tool for your organization"

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sonali G. | Cloud AI intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Portnox?**

It is extremely easy to set-up. You don't find a whole lot of that with others tools along with all the features. Easy interface with the ability to manage remote devices. The application control to kill unwanted ones and along with alerts and reports it generates add extra security options. The server can manage several ports simultaneously.

**What do you dislike about Portnox?**

The refresh rates of the pages could be improved. Customisation for specified solutions needs working with the pricing model. Strategy for integration with other tools can be improvised because most organisations need that support.

**What problems is Portnox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a switch monitoring tool that helps with your network requiremnets. It is faster and more efficient which is a great quality for a nac tool. With this you know exactly who enters or messing with your network.

  ### 41. Overall Great Product

**Reviewed by:** Sameer K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2023

Solving the purpose of NAC with End Point Security along with the features of RADIUS/TACACS in the cloud.
